My name is Greg Phillips and I’m a line producer here at SCEA. For the past seven years, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with Insomniac Games on everything from Spyro the Dragon 2 and 3, also as a tester to every Ratchet & Clank game and most recently Resistance: Fall of Man.
I wanted to let you know that registration for the first inaugural national Resistance: Fall of Man tournament starts today. This is something we’re really fired up about. It’s time to start identifing some of the best ROFM players in the US. Click here for tourney details. The folks in our legal department have asked me to remind everyone that you must be 18 to participate and a US resident. Space is limited, so get in there quick if you meet all of the requirements.
A big thanks to Insomniac Games, Global Gaming League, GameStop and GamePlay HD for helping us make this happen. While those of us that work for SCE and Insomniac are ineligible to compete, you can find various Insomniacs online every first and third Friday of the month from 5-6pm PST for Resistance Fridays. The players differ from week to week, with everyone from the studio including Insomniac head honcho Ted Price joining in the fun. The next Resistance Friday is, coincidentally, this Friday, June 22nd. Also, check back on this blog soon for an update on the map pack and global server.
And, finally, as E3 draws closer, I’ll have an update to share on Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, featuring a sneak peak at what we will be showing at E3. As a hint, this level, along with Kerchu City, was briefly shown in our first trailer back in March.

Cool – good to see this up – I’d love it if you guys post replays of the matches on your site / playstation.com / have them downloadable over the PSN (the last one being the best if possible).
Commentators would be cool too… pref developers. I’d love to hear how the pvp space has evolved from your initial thoughts on how the game would be like.
Anyhow, any news on PSN downloads for the actual game?

Resistance is a great FPS offline but also online, members our site PS3focus.nl having a lot of battles. Also the off PS magazine in the Netherlands had a own clan on Socom…they stopt and made the clan agian for RFOM. there are a lott of clan battles here in the Netherlands with that kicking ass online part off RFOM.
I also cant wait for the E3, I hope this blog will explode with info and gamemovies….
But I have a question
THERE IS A RUMOUR THAT UNREAL 3 WILL BE TIME EXCLUSIVE FOR THE ps3 AND THE PC…IS THAT TRUE??

No, I don’t think so, Unreal Tournament III will come for three consoles at the same time as mentioned by Epic games in Gamepro magazine. I wish it was though, I guess because of the successs of Gears of War, they decided to also release it on the 360.

Is there a chance that we will be able to spectate some of the matches?

self.confessed.cynic: More info on the maps is coming soon. Very soon. Please be patient just a little bit longer.
Godofwar55555: Suggestion noted on the count down timer. Personally, I think count down timers need to be saved for special occasions. GTA IV and GoW: Chains of Olympus are two recent examples of this. And the Simpsons game, as the timing was oddly approapriate following the GTA IV count down timer.

E3 is a special occasion, during what other time of the year do all three console manufacturers make announcements about new games, when are games that have been in development for years finally shown (Killzone 2) and release dates for the biggest games are announced. That is not a special occasion, are you kidding.

Nice to see that the US gets it’s first official Resistance tourney. In South-East Asia, there already was one back in March, but the prizes weren’t as good as these been offered, but then there is a huge difference in the userbase. I’m hoping that once Home comes out, there’ll be some worldwide tournaments for games like MotorStorm, F1 and Resistance. Is this something that is being considered Sony?

I’m gonna say this now, as I cannot compete due to my Canadianess: Taggers from the back and shotgun users will win. Hands down. You’ll see the interview after the final 1v1 and the interviewer will say,”What weapon do you think is the best in your opinion? Winner: “Well, the bullseye is good to get quick kills, as well as the shotgun, and the 40 mm grenade are good weapons to rely on.”

GREAT! Just 1 problem..
-I play in both worlds, both are good, but only one fullfills.. the 360 world! it offers a better online experience. It succeds because of one simple thing: EVERYONE has a voice comunicator headset! This is such a simple BASIC thing to bring ppl together, i have 360 friends all around the world and ive met some interesting ppl.
Ive played 100 fall of man online games with a bluetooth headset and ive never heard a single voice besides my own.
SO FOR PEATS SAKE SONY!…get headsets out there already…How long is it gonna take? till home comes? a year? Is there even an ability to voice chat over fall of man????
So whats the problem?
Lackluster online experinces creates uncontrollable feeling of NOT CARING about this tournament.
The worst thing about all this is i want to care.
So im gonna go play team slayer and wait for LAIR, HEAVENLY SWORD, and the headsets!
Have fun and good luck for those who join the tourney /:-:\
