1080p @ 60 fps is a stand all games must follow but a lot of gamers hardly realize this.

I guess you've been watching gt reviews on this very title for last year. It will not be appreciated if it continues to have the same mistakes that dropped the score. There seems to be a glitch with the ball bouncing animation; some bounces doesn't touch the hands before the player throws for a basket. Get more fluidity in the dunking.

Good luck.

I liked NBA '07 but hated the SUPER - SHINY wet look. Also where are the real announcers?!?!? You've got to add real announcers...otherwise I won't be playing '08. C'mon SNE let's do it right. As far as the 1080P and 60 fps I consider this an afterthought: all PS3 games should run like this in some fashion or another. =] WIN THE WAR

Will there be online leagues? My friends and I really liked what xbox and XSN Sports did with their titles. Online leagues, Tournaments, and historical stats. That is where it is at. I'll save the realtime dripping sweat for your mother

Eric,

Thanks so much for taking the time to follow up to the myriad of questions. It's refreshing and extremely promising to witness such participation from Sony.

Admittedly, I'm not a huge basketball fan, but provided the gameplay is solid, your interaction alone has been enough to keep me in high anticipation of NBA 08.

Expanding on my previous post - effectively, I'm wondering what you guys' stance is on motion controls feeling like an afterthought, which is a major criticism on games for both the Wii and the PS3.

And why do you think your current offering dispels this view, and add significantly to gameplay.

I'm still looking for reasons to wave my arms around like an idiot while playing games - because, quite frankly, its fun (as long as it ads to the gameplay).

Great stuff Erich, I'm surprised you stepped up to the plate and answered a heap of hard questions (although I do wonder if your PR guys are starting to hush you for giving away too much stuff wich usually comes out in those exclusive interviews by gaming websites).

Honestly, though - good stuff.

What I find interesting when reading over the interview again is - with sixaxis controls, I imagined them being more of a "you take control of the defensive player and you move the sixaxis in the direction the ball is coming from" rather than tilting the sixaxis - especially when combined with the new, player-following camera angle.

Effectively, what happens there is you have the player on defence marking the other guy who is about to pass – you jerk the sixaxis after he passes, and if you went in the right direction, and your reaction time is low enough, your player grabs the ball. Furthermore, moving – not jerking – the controller in a particular direction would lean the player towards that direction, with the auto-controls taking over. For that you’d need a reset button (such as R1) which resets your current stance, and a fatigue system linked to how fast you jerk the controller, and what that means for the player on screen. But then, this is coming from a non-sports-gamer, so I don’t know if the system would really work.

Can you describe why you went with these sixaxis controls and how it plays? Have you guys done much play testing with people who aren't linked to the game?
