Hi everyone. I’m Felice Standifer, Sr. US Producer for MotorStorm. I understand everyone is rarin’ to go with the MotorStorm updates and believe me, we are too. But right before we were planning to go live with the 1.2 updates with Time Attack mode, a new issue was found on the patch that could result in people not being able to establish a network connection. So, unfortunately, for now we need to continue to run tests and monitor the fix to ensure that it does not occur when the patch goes live. I play Motorstorm religiously and *love* the new Time Attack mode, and I think you will too. Of course, it’s in the best interest for everyone that we resolve this before we release the update. Bear with us, we’ll have it out as quickly as we can and ensure the bug doesn’t cause any problems for future updates. More to come.

@Felice
I absolutely commend you for the honesty…how about for just opening up your mouth!!!! It takes a good man to admit “we screwed up, we feel bad and were workin on it”
Too bad other Sony personel/depts cant say the same…Kudos! Felice…your alright in my book!!!

No announcement about the update for tomorrow then? I was hoping for someone from Sony to post on this blog what goodies we can look forward to in the store this week (Where are the PSone games and demos???). Oh and is it possible for someone to contact SCEH and see if they’re still operational, they haven’t put anything in their store for nearly a month!!!!!

Looks like the bug is still there! I just downloaded the update and now Motorstorm doesn’t even boot up for me! The Playstation 3 logo comes up but then it just goes to black. I noticed the update was only 100kb…and it took like a half second to download. So did I get the bug version or am I doing something wrong?

This patch officialy brings some more life into the title. Too bad the designers couldn’t hold off a month to include this and splite screen.
When Colin McRae DiRt for the ps3 comes out, this game will be long forgotten and laughed at by other developers. Remember Evolution studios, eye candy isn’t everything, just look at the Wii.
The only thing, the developers did right was the online. No wait, you took 3 months to fix a online glitch? Good job at showing the technical prowess of the ps3 with a game that runs at 30 frames per second which was the standard 4 years ago… More frames, more speed. More content, more sales.
This game hurt Sony’s image since this was suppose to be a system seller, but fell short making Sony look bad. Jack, let these guys go, waste of money. Pass motorstorm 2 to another developer.

@ 209:
er… you gotta follow a little proceedure that wasn’t explicitly explained: first, you load motorstorm,
then go to “online”:
then you get prompted to download an update (to motorstorm version 1.2 I believe)… do it. this took me a while, so I assume it was in the order of 10MB++ (or my download rate was Seriously Low).
THEN go to the store, download the time trial thingy.
If you’ve done this in the wrong order, you may need to delete the game data before it’ll all work (bummer!) but I’d try installing 1.2 before just going the chop. never know, it might work…

Oh, and before I forget (not that that’s likely)
I love the time trial!
As far as easily achieved/implimented extensions to the game go, this is a ripper!
Can’t wait to see the next lot of downloadable content… I’ll be surprised if it extends the playability of the game as much as the time trial function. (I was juuust getting tired of motorstorm)
(P.S: Sony – you’re making my girlfriend jelous…)

Can anyone at Sony explain us why the Time Attack update was done in a way so that you can easly install the mode before updating the game to 1.2, hence making Motorstorm unplayable unless you delete the 1.1 patch and download the 1.2 one?
I dont know a single person that managed to get the procedure right. Everyone seems to download the Time Attack mode before updating the game. Did Sony think about this issue at all? Or did they assume people would actually read the item description on the Store?

Thanks for the update guys, I love it.
Please consider the following for the next update:
- Split screen (you already know everyone wants this)
- Personal music selection
- In-car mirror or car position indicators
- Fix (or make adjustable) the AI priority
- Make the level of catch up in single player adjustable
On the mirror:
Personally, you guys were ripped off on the choice of videos sites like gametrailers put up. IMO MotorStorm looks 10x better from inside the car than from outside. The sensation of speed is better, and there appears to be way more mayhem. Unfortunately, on some single player races it’s almost impossible to play that way because of the way the AI is setup. They focus way too much on crashing in to you. Toning back the AI’s suicidal tendencies and/or providing a method of knowing where they’re coming from would make a massive difference.
On the AI and catch up:
The AI seems to put way too much priority on crashing in to you instead of winning the race. Even if you’re coming last, they’ll slow down to crash in to you. I’d prefer the game to be difficult because the AI doesn’t let up than to have it be impossible since they’re suicidal.
The “catch up” also appears to enable the AI to keep pace without boosting, even while you’re boosting (or close enough, that it doesn’t matter).
The combination of these two factors means that it’s not uncommon to be in first place for 2.9 laps and then suddenly have 3-5 vehicles catch up with you and take you out (even if you’ve been boosting madly). If we’re winning, please don’t make the AI cheat. It makes it more frustrating than it does interesting. Especially since not crashing can be quite challenging even without the AI running in to you.
With all that said, MotorStorm is still my favorite game on the PS3. I have 3 races left to win before unlocking the last ticket. But considering the work I’ve done to get this far, it seems I now need an inordinate amount of luck just to finish the single player game.
