A New Poll, We Need Your Help
+ Posted by Patrick Seybold // Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media
We’re wrapping up our reader poll today. It’s clear that Heavenly Sword, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Warhawk are highly anticipated games this year, our poll garnered 10,000+ votes! Very impressive. Over the next few weeks, we’ll have the developers who are working on these titles chime in here to talk about them as part of our Inside The Developers Studio series. More to come, but now, on to our next poll…
Over the last few weeks we’ve been receiving and reading a ton of your ideas and thoughts about what sort of features we should be adding to this blog to make it better. We have our own thoughts of course, but given this blog is about you guys and in the spirit of this week’s July 4th holiday, we figured we’ll just put it to a good ol’ fashion vote.
Starting today, on this blog’s sidebar —> vote for the feature(s) you would *most* like to see incorporated here over the next few weeks and we’ll do all that we can to oblige. Also, feel free to leave us suggestions in the comments too — all things will be considered. We know this blog needs some fine tuning, with your help we’ll get it there.

I just recently purchased a PlayStation 3. It goes without saying that I am VERY pleased with my purchase. I also have been an Xbox 360 owner since January of ‘06.
Now, what I would love to see added to the PS3, is in game XMB access. I would like to be able to access my messages, saves, files, ect, during my activities. This is something that I really enjoy on my 360, and would love to see on the PS3.
It would be nice to also have custom soundtracks, and a standardized headset/ voice system for PS3 games as well.
But the one thing I really cannot stress enough is the lack of iPod support, so to speak. Unlike on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 views iPod music tracks, just like a PC; in odd for digit codes. This is due to the AAC format, I believe.
Anyway, I would like for Sony to make it easier for my PS3 to recognize my music and make it easier for me to access what I want and when I want.
Thank you very much!

An effective Q & A between us and Sony. Q & A between game developers would be great as well.
Somewhat regular VIDEO updates on higly anticipated games would be amazing as well. I think that would give a much better idea to the consumers as to where the games are. Seeing the changes is much better than hearing about them.

Anyway, I rambled. It would be nice if this blog was some how linked to the web browser on the PS3….

Off topic: How do I change my avatar? I signed up at Gravatar and made a pic, but it’s not showing up here? Also, is there an account settings page here?

I’m a little confused… Now don’t get me wrong, i love the idea of the site. By all means keep the news coming, its all us owners have to keep us satisfied during the drought that is lack of high quality content. My problem lies with this vote on blog features. What happened to you posting the most wanted PS3 firmware features?!? Where can we vote on that?!? Give me more pertinent and i’ll gladly tell u how to improve the blog. Constructive Criticism.

Apparently not many agree with me, but I chose ranking posts. Although I’m thinking like digg.com.
Why? I figure this will make it easier for you (Sony) to see what we really want.
For example, if someone posted a comment with a request, and it was ranked + alot of times, you’d easily be able to tell this request is something that alot of Playstation Gamers would like to see.

I like people from post 53, they own a xbox 360 and giving good positive feedback on what would may the PS3 even better! I think this is great he has used the xbox 360 knows what he likes and does not like and is willing to Let Sony know. I do not own a xbox 360 so I can not give Sony what I like or dislike about the PS3. Thank you #53 for giving us you honest opinion on what you would like to see good job!!!!!

Do something about the login process. Scrolling all the way to the bottom of post replies to login is annoying. We also have no way to change our password. This is something that needs to be fixed. The email limit that is emposed on emails to you through your “email us” link is very small. This should be fixed as well.

May I just suggest that whatever multimedia additions you make, you check that it still works fine in Yellow Dog Linux? I’m thinking specifically of Flash integration - to my knowledge Adobe havn’t got the linux/ps3 combo supported yet.
I’d be dissapointed not to be able to use all the features of this blog with my ps3 (given it’s now my primary computer).
-by the way… can’t help notice that the GameOS browser has flash support working great. was that directly through Adobe?

How about this for the next POLL?
——————————————————————
What exclusive game trailers would you like to see in PSN Store after E3-2007 that’s NEVER been seen?
1) Metal Gear 4
2) Final Fantasy XIII
3) KillZone
4) Heavely Sword
5) Everything.

@ Zefie
I clearly understand where you are coming from. But Sony can also clearly see what people want by how many times people are posting the same request. For example, in game XMB access. So it would be nice to just go ahead and vote for another features, instead of something that we can all see by what people are posting. Something different yuh know…?
*TheChosenFew*
1 question for you Sony.. What is your purpose on this earth?

i don’t care about the poll but i think we need a new banner for the main page. I go to this site for Playstation news, mainly news on the PS3. The current banner is a PSP, i think it should be more sony related not a “PSP”

Interesting options there. I went with screen shots because we need some new media for upcoming games. Speaking of games, where are they?

I love my PSP, not ready to buy a PS3 (at least, until I pay off my MacBook Pro). What bothers me about the PSP is the lack of RPG titles it offers at the moment.
While browsing PSP demos I came across the “Legend of Heroes: Sora no Kiseki FC”. I played the LoH games that have been poorly translated into English but this game is probably the most fun game I’ve played on the PSP yet (even though it’s in Japanese). I think this game would do well in sales and reviews if it was released outside of Japan.

I never got the chance to thank Sony for making the Playstation blog, it’s good to see that Sony is listening to their fans.

I want some blog exclusives here. I mean, you guys are Sony, you can pretty much give out what you want and when. For example, maybe a big E3 run through, with news posts being done by all the developers for the announced titles and updates at E3 for PS consoles. Theoretically you could contact them all now and get their blog posts ready and you post them when their announcement is made. Fresh screens and video straight from the conference would be great, or even a live stream of the sony press event next week.
I appreciate all the work that has been going into the blog lately, and the openness and transparency are bar none to any major company blog I have ever been to, but I really am hoping for some big exclusives.

Oh and I would go nuts for what Microsoft is doing, but with Sony’s stuff on the PSN. Bring home Sony’s E3 please! Please?

I would like to have the option of “Reply to this message” so I don´t have to put the @User or @34.
It could be in a tree shape.
I voted for hires screenshots but overall the Blog is just fine. Like a couple said, its the info what it counts, not the features.
I know E3 must have all of you without any sleep so after that is over, I think you don´t to worry so much about adding features. Besides the reply thing.

Love to get Q&A to SONY and devs!

@92
Rumor control would be a great feature. here are a few that I’ve seen that I’d love clarification on:
- Square Enix expressed that they do not plan to develop any more new titles for PlayStation 3 until the console install base rises to a profit making level.
- a new installment of Parasite Eve is under development for the PS3.
- Sony will release a new “Waggle-Wall” bundle pack for PlayStation 2 in Christmas, for US$99, the Waggle-Wall is a Wii Remote type motion sensing controller, to compete with Wii. Sony has already registered the new controller for patent protection in December 2006.

I have voted for screenshots, but the blog is just fine as is.
I would like to see more insider news here before they came out anywhere else. I would like to see what’s in store for PS3 in next 6-12 months.
Poll ? Why not vote on upcoming firmware features ?
BTW, I liked the suggestion from #38; “request for blog option”, “request for game option”

Quote:”Nevermind features for the blog. Sony should be looking at suggestions about features for its console and games”
Take this blog as a tool for Sony, not a tool for us. Since a majority say they want games or pricecuts, that might be seen as a hint.
You should do a poll on what the readers want on the PS3/PSP!

id rather get imporvment for the ps3!
but basiclly voting on how relevant the blogs are would be good so if some1’s asking for useless update they can just be given a low rating so that you cans ee what is important. An why do people want scrrenshots? why not buy and play?
coley .

The RSS feed is perfect. No real need for desktop widgets or email updates as long as we have the feed. The blog is going great, and i think the layout is perfect.

ittekimasu | July 2nd, 2007 at 2:50 pm
well i would want to get information from here than hearing it on a gaming site, since it kind of confirms it for the rest of us reading this.
also maybe sometype of add on to the ps3 XMB so that we can automatically come here to post/read without having to sign in, more of a novelty this idea but i would probably be more eager to use this feature since were lacking in the games department atm.
this and as mentioned before (dunno how many of us has mentioned this) but will there be any live coverage of the E3 this year? hopefully via playstation store or even from here, i’ve recently read that Microsoft will be doing it again with their live subscription users and while this might be flamed for following them, we’ll have the edge by saying we get our’s for free.
