can someone from sony please say sometime about the discontinuing the 60gb version? you guys are really losing customer everyminute today. This is very misleding and we have several sources to think that the news is true, so please someone just say something….

This blog has turned to Sony hating people because of the decision they’ve made. That’s crazy. Would like to see the faces at Sony who are reading all of these comments… I’m disappointed myself…. I myself will benefit from the price drop, but a lot won’t, hoping that they would have gotten the chance to purchase it later on down the road for 499. Watch the Wii take over on Amazon now…..
This has to be the most asinine thing I have ever heard. I can’t believe the Sony executive are that disconnected form there client base to realize how pissed off everyone is going to be. They say price doesn’t drive the market are you F’ing stupid price has always driven the market unless you are the gas companies but that another topic. You are not the only game out there for are business get a freaking clue.
If the rumors are true concerning the drop across all SKU for MS it’s going to be an ugly x-mas for all of Sony gaming systems. Yes games are part of the bigger picture but it doesn’t matter how killer Killzone 2 looks your not going to get the masses to shell out $600.
Sony, think back to VHS vs. Beta you got you @ss handed to you then and its going to happen again.

Denied but clearly true. No other reason for it. Especially when they haven’t announced a 80GB version in Europe – its just the package made to clear out stock before it comes in…making it look like a good deal despite the fact most places here are already selling the PS3 for £399 due to lack of sales.
Sony the time is running, if noone from sony say something before the COB ( close of business day) you can consider yourself dead.
This was suposse to be a great weekend for the ps3, and now everything turn out like this ( will be one of the worst ), im just in shock…… sony is killing his own brand….

Wow! This is some crazy stuff to be honest. First time we’ve pretty much gone through something like this. I’m really hoping this whole 60GB model being discontinued is a mistake. I’m glad to see that there is finally some false about all this. Thanks for the link!!
If you read the full interview with Reeves the overall picture is even worse. He clearly says the difference in price between a 60 GB and 80GB drive is just a few Euro cents…so why is the 80GB model $100 dearer in the US?

Well, I’ve got to chime in out of curiosity – I’ve held out on a ps3 purchase specifically due to BC issues with ps2 games (I refrained from a ps2 purchase once ps3 bc was announced). Now as I understand games like Ico and Okami are wonky on ps3 in US – and with the possibility of less dedication to bc in future models my hesitance to invest in a ps3 will continue. I may end up just falling back to the ps2 (like many others seem to be doing if one judges by sales numbers) and sit out on this gen for the forseeable future.
That said, Sony definitely had the most intriguing presentation this year – home looks good (love the varied architecture) and creative game design like littlebigplanet, echochrome, patapon, locoroco and the like are definitely what is tempting me towards their system (if only the psp games could eventually come to the console in some form).
The summer discounts look like a clearance to me – 2 controllers in a package esp. I’d expect a fall/xmas model with a new rumble controller and revised hardware specs, hopefully with perfect bc and I’m sold! (wink)
Yes, please provide more demos for upcoming games on the PS Store. Sony has to push for these demos to be released on time.

Many people are confused as to when the Open Beta for Home will be released. At E3 ‘07, Phil Harrison said it will be released in July, then he said the Open Beta will be released in Fall 2007. Which is correct? Could you please announce this or at least send out emails confirming the actual date of release for Home Open Beta? Or at least the correct month. Please.
Also, I believe you are struggling in sales with the PS3. This may seem scary but if you reduced the PS3’s price by $200 (from $599 to $399, and I mean the 80GB model because the 60GB model will become obsolete), you would sell PS3s at about a rate of 1,000% more than you are now. I GUARANTEE IT! Please consider this! Because if you sell more PS3s, then game developers will develop more exclusive titles for PS3 which in turn will boost PS3 sales again because in order to play the game, they’ll need to purchase a PS3 and this will also rack in money for you at SCE. I know you will not do this but I have to try to convince you. This is why the Wii is outselling PS3 by like 4 to 1.
Let me start out by saying – Sony, thank you for putting some content up on PSN! The trailers are great but I sure would like to see your whole press conference as well as some more of the trailers from E3. I have yet to find an HD SOCOM trailer, a new Ratchet & Clank gameplay video or demo for that matter (I know Insomniac built one for E3 – source: Full Moon Show), maybe an Uncharted demo, or any demos really.
One thing I feel XBOX does really well around E3 is provide content to 360 owners. They released 6 demos – Blue Dragon, Ace Combat 6, Harry Potter, The Bigs, NCAA Football, and Stuntman. They also broadcasted their entire press conference in HD, though it looked like it was sponsored by IGN. They put up a total of 70 videos and demos from E3 alone since Tuesday.
What Sony did do right from all the podcasts I listen to and the articles I have read is delivered in a big way at their press conference. I have been watching Microsoft’s press conference and am left a bit underwhelmed overall. The content they released is good, though I have to say that the 360 versions of trailers I could compare looked better overall.
I am not sure if this is because of the way the video is transcoded or if developers are having trouble programming the PS3 or are too limited by 256 megs of ram (compared to the 360’s 512 megs). My guess is that they haven’t optimized the way they work with the SPU’s in the PS3 but what do I know.
I am very excited about Home and the ability to join and launch games from within Home, I just hope this type of environment doesn’t intimidate people. I have never been a fan of Second Life type of games and I am a bit concerned this set up may turn some people away.
LittleBigPlanet looks fantastic and they made the levels look pretty easy to modify.
Unreal Tournament 3 looked fantastic as did COD4 (though I feel the 360 version looked a bit better, smoother animations, less tearing, etc). I am REALLY looking forward to the Rumble sixaxis
I am really happy to see Sony become more community oriented and actually getting involved with the consumer. We aren’t all kids anymore and are actually interested in the industry and how we can help mold the games and services we love. Keep it up Sony, I am more excited than ever to own my PS3!!

How do they have such an amazing E3, have killzone deliver… have great games… and then have the whole damn thing overshadowed on the last day by their execs not being ‘with the programme’

The the ceo of sony australia announces a PAL price cut of ‘around 17%’
then a european exec says the $100 cut is just until stocks run out
Then they DON’T announce a PAL price cut.
Then Europe bactracks from it’s ’till stocks last statement’
Then SCEA Pr kicks in and says europe was misquoted…
THEN Kaz hirai confirms it IS till stocks run out….
These people don;t deserve our money, or loyaty… they constantly show themselves up as incompetant… and they held a lot of announcements back.
SONY = in a single day you went from winning E3 to confusing everyone and looking like idtiots again…
Also, take a look on XBox live… look at the huge amount of content from E3… and we got a few first party trailers… not a single demo… not one.

All footages we’ve seen so far are from the 360 version, even the demo was the 360 version.

We need clarification for when RUMBLE will be released and some playable demos SOON. For whatever it’s worth KILLZONE II MUST HAVE A JUMP FUNCTION AND COOKED GRENADES. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT overlook these simple points and you will have a MEGA-HIT on your hands that will make Halo look like a ride at the local carnival. Oh yeah….where are all the multi-colored units for all of us lowly consumers out here. C’mon bring out all the GOOD stuff now and crush the COMPETITION. What are you waiting for!?!?!?!?

Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Hot Shots Golf. So much to get this fall =D
First of all, sony did a very good job. Congrats.
Concerning the games, I really love the lineups
of games to to come in the near furture. I really love the extent of graphical importance to your titles esp. Heavenly sword, R&C and Uncharted. Graphics in games offers immersion and beauty during gameplay.
Killzone2 did delivered esp. in the area of animation, ai and destructible environment. For those moments, every thing semed real; no slide walking, good foot planting and good rag doll physics.
Graphically, the begining of the trailer did match the cg that close. What i saw was the absence of enough polygons to match the cg. If ps3 could do theoretically 2bil polygon on screen, PUSH the polygons to have a polygon rich character to match cg. The best polygon modelling ever seen is the card in GT:hd and GT 5.
Smoke needs to thicken like how gasoline will burn. I love those fire effects from those burning it makes it real.
Then also there is little work to do with the lighting engine;NB: all surfaces do not reflects the same amounts of light in the view of the eye. To date the best lighting seen in a game is in crysis.
Further more, Cloth dynamics and hair system needs to show its head up as the cg showed.
Don’t get me wrong, this game is the best among all console games i’ve ever seen and i will like it to exceed the cg which i belive the ps3 can.
I want a new yard stick set for the other title.We are not kids anymore and are actually interested in the industry and how we can help mold the games we love. Keep it up Sony.
Assasain Creed – A game that can really take a breath away – This game is everything what I exspected
Man, some of these people are so getting carried away with the recent news of the 60GB. Sony is brilliant, they are doing this to get everyone to buy the cheaper 60GB and as soon as they run out of 60’s they will lower the price of the 80’s. People like Shinblade don’t deserve to have a PS3, because of the dumbass response. I’m pretty sure that there is a reason that sony is a multi-billion dollar company.
First of all i must say that I LOVE SONY and all of their products, but I have a complain: Its fabolous to read that price cut of $100, but I live in Mexico and the price of the 60 Gig version its $9600 pesos (price from Walmart), thats around 900 US dollars, so please do something to regulate your prices in Mexico and Latino America, We are Americans too!!!! and i think we are a important part of your users/customers.
I really hope you read this, and if you, please post so we latinoamerican-sony-lovers know that you are really listen to us.

For all of those dissing Sony. You guys are idiots. Go to Microsoft with their 33% rate which is rumoured to be 100%. Have patience Geez! Sony has delivered with everything promised. Sure it takes a while to get it out there. But, first off demos are mostly the devs not Sony. Yes, I want demos too but it’s the devs not Sony. As for the 60 gig thing let’s see what happens from here.
Sony’s launch did not fail. Compare it to the launch numbers of other systems and it’s doing fairly well with 2 games that are must-haves for launch anyway. Sony delivered on trailers and content on PSN. I believe they will deliver on all of their promises. Just have to be real real patient. A quality that most of us don’t seem to have.
Please be patient. Sony thanks for making a great system that has a 1% failure rate. Thanks for this blog which I believe is a great way to listen to us fans. People seem to forget that people clamored for rumble and it is being done. I don’t care about rumble as much but I think it will be nice to have. Maybe Sony is waiting to announce that when they figure out how to implement it. I mean sixaxis plus rumble means death to the battery in the controller.
I think it’s a good thing for them to take their time. Instead of giving us bad service. PSN is what 8 months in it’s debut and yet people say it already must reach the level of Live which has been out longer. 8 months and look at it. It’s good could be better within more time.
Can anyone tell me if they have gotten an external Hard Drive to work with their PS3 or did they have to buy another internal Harddrive?
