Wright All-Star 2

The annual MLB All Star Game, also popularly known as the Midsummer Classic, is an opportunity for baseball fans to see the game’s biggest superstars and most valuable players compete on a national stage.

The night before the game, New York Met’s All-Star Third Baseman and MLB 07 The Show cover athlete David Wright delivered an MVP performance of his own at the Childrens Unit at the UCSF Hospital. Wright surprised the children by showing up to sign autographs, talk a little baseball, and play MLB 07 with them.

The day was also highlighted by PlayStation’s donation of some PS3’s, PS2’s, PSP’s, an assortment of games, and a couple of 32″ Bravia TV’s to the unit’s All-Star room.

And although Wrights National League Team lost the MLB All-Star Game 5-4, the picture above and below show he won a lot of new fans at UCSF.

You ARE joking right? What is bad about The Show? Even if you think it’s bad it’s still the best baseball game out right now.

@93 - Yes the new PSP will be available in the ‘core’ model and in the two different entertainment packs.

@98 - TGS isn’t until September. Yesterday, in Tokyo was PlayStation Premiere event, which is akin to our Gamers’ Day we had back in May. It centers around news for that specific territory.

Thanks for clarifying that Patrick. I have another question too. Will there be any news on firmware updates in the near future? Got some awesome games coming out, so all I’m really looking forword to now is some firmware update news. Thanks!

Patrick:

Is it still in the plan to make a post here about features in firmware we’ve asked for? Also, is there any firmware news coming soon? I’ve seen leaked pictures of a “select music” icon when you press the PS button, is there any truth to that?

@ thereapersson

It has been shown on IGN, screens of Playstation Premiere coverage of the new PSP models. IGN also provided screen shots of all the different cables that the PSP will support. One of those, were the composite cables, along with component, S-Video, and some other(not sure if it was DVI or VGA).

http://media.psp.ign.com/articles/805/805620/imgs_1.html

I will be going with component ones. Glad they’ve made the video out so universal, and not just stick to just one set of cables.

@Patrick Seybold

Hey, just wondering if you could chime in with your tech crew (Eric Lempel & his peeps working on the PSN) and see if you could dig up some info on the next FW update for the PS3. It may be a timely request, as it would require you to actually probably put up another post and whatnot, but most of us are just eager as heck to see what’s coming up in the next update! These features and things we’ve requested are obviously going to be given to us at one point or another, but there would definitely be some more good hype coming your way around the ‘net if you could just let us in on some neat stuff we can expect. If it’s too soon to have any definitive details on the next FW update, just let us know, and thanks for your time!

I don’t know what to do, Sony… I hate you so much for that fake-out, but you’re still the best company, comparitively… Trust me, when the price drops again and you get BC on non-ee systems to 99+%, you will be the all around best company, no questions asked…

Too bad Universal just doesn’t give in… That would give Bluray the final word, and the PS3 would sell like hotcakes, no pricecut needed.

135

Gravatar

40cal  |  July 17th, 2007 at 10:27 pm

Tekken should be fine. I see no reason why this title will go multi-p. Install base wont be an issue any longer.

136

Gravatar

CitizenInsane27  |  July 17th, 2007 at 10:53 pm

Tekken will not go multi-platform, Namco has always been faithful to the Playstation platforms, as they are the driving force behind the arcade machines the games run on. That won’t be changing this round.

137

Gravatar

Slick  |  July 18th, 2007 at 12:07 am

Did somebody say something about demos?

Oh….anyway…

Regardless of all of the other issues everybody wants to debate about constantly, the most important factor for any platform, a factor that superceeds any hardware spec or special function or price tag, is the games. Games are what sell. Thankfully….they are finally coming…and way more than I expected.

138

Gravatar

Kurse  |  July 18th, 2007 at 4:14 am

Now we are bawling for Tekken 6 to be exclusive?
It is the 6th game in a series that has been re-using animation since 2 and 3.
You wanna play Tekken 6 now? Squint your eyes and play Tekken 5. No, scratch, that and play Tekken 4 or how about 3?
The competition is still trying to win last gen, let THEM pay millions to buy old games. Let the PS3 be the home of fresh new franchises that become the Tekkens of the future….
PS Triple=Forward never Backward.

Dear Sony,
Please start firing people(David Reeves) who can’t keep their mouths shut BEFORE they turn all the positive press you’ve garnered from an event (price cut) against you.

I had about 5 days that I could think to myself “Ya know, this machine is pretty cool. I think Sony finally has their heads in the game.”, let’s aim for a whole month next time! ; )

I can not believe that the PS3 has been number 1 on Amazon for the whole week!!!! Hurray!!! and they sold out ! great system, love blu-ray movies, games are very good. Looking forward to the next system update and doing the home thing.

146

Gravatar

thechosenfew88  |  July 18th, 2007 at 7:28 am

I’m sure its an honor for Sony to see that the Ps3 has been number since last week, and still is up to date.Wii falls in shortly being in seconde, and other Sony products like the slim line PS2(Gray and Black), blu-ray remote, and controller are all in atleast the top 10. To count, 5 products from Sony, 4 from NIntendo, and 1 from a gameon PC. Where you at 360? Its shows a clear indication, that the PS3 will ultimately end up winning this console war, with Wii falling in 2nd place, and the 360 in 3rd. Anyone agrees?? LOL! :-)

147

Gravatar

40cal  |  July 18th, 2007 at 7:39 am

I dont think that Wii will slip for atleast another year or two. Microsoft is done for this year.

149

Gravatar

themaninthebox  |  July 18th, 2007 at 7:54 am

I wouldn’t say that 360 is done for this year. They still have something called Halo 3 coming out, and some games that are really taunting me to pick one up, like Mass Effect (looks hot), BioShock (looks spooky and amazing), and I would love to play Left 4 Dead.

My roommate just moved out, taking his 360 and Wii with him - might be a good thing, might get some work done now.
