Wright All-Star 2

The annual MLB All Star Game, also popularly known as the Midsummer Classic, is an opportunity for baseball fans to see the game’s biggest superstars and most valuable players compete on a national stage.

The night before the game, New York Met’s All-Star Third Baseman and MLB 07 The Show cover athlete David Wright delivered an MVP performance of his own at the Childrens Unit at the UCSF Hospital. Wright surprised the children by showing up to sign autographs, talk a little baseball, and play MLB 07 with them.

The day was also highlighted by PlayStation’s donation of some PS3’s, PS2’s, PSP’s, an assortment of games, and a couple of 32″ Bravia TV’s to the unit’s All-Star room.

And although Wrights National League Team lost the MLB All-Star Game 5-4, the picture above and below show he won a lot of new fans at UCSF.

Halo 3 will sell millions of copies because of the current install base. I was talking about Hardware sales. People are starting to see that the PS3 is the better console or they allready knew and can afford it now.

  • Hey Patrick, thanks for answering my previous question. Got another for ya! Are you guys going to be packaging the PS3 with any sort of cables other than composite cables? I know that the XBOX 360 has at least a component cable in the box so you are ready to do HD right off the bat. You guys should put an HDMI cable and a component / composite hybrid cable, or just all three separately in the box with the PS3 system. If you did this, there would be many people who would stop complaining about the lack of HDMI in the box when they buy their PS3’s. You put Blu-Ray in the system so you are obviously banking on the fact that people have HDTV’s, so why no HDMI cables? I know cost isn’t an issue because you can find a good HDMI cable on monoprice.com for like 4 bucks.

  • @ anyone who knows about cables

I am trying to see if there are differences between some component cables. Is t here a such thing as having HD Premium Component cables and “regular” component cables? Best Buy has some for 69.99 and they say HD on them, does that make them any better from the component cables that cost as low as 20-40 dollars?

  • @ thechosenfew88

The cables that you are looking at are about the same. Component cables cost more depending on the materals used to make them. Gold conectors and so forth.

Now HDMI has a true advantage over Component cables. The cheapest HDMI is a much better option than the high end Component cables.

Need more details let me know.

  • @40cal

I’m thinking about buying some high end component cables, but I wasn’t sure if there was a difference between component cables themselves. My HDTV did not come with HDMI, highest I think is DVI, and thats video only, still haven’t checked if my TV has an optical audio output. If so, would I be best buying a DVI to HDMI cable instead of components?

  • @ thechosenfew88

I still had my Component cables from my PS2 when I got my PS3. I went out and bought component cables by Monster and could not tell any diff.

The monster cables where too big so I took them back to Circut City and made the management give me a refund.

I continued to use my PS2 Component cables untill I did my home work on HDMI.

If you want some high quality Component cables for the price Sony makes some PS3 branded ones. I would recomend those. HDMI is always the better choice though.

    Hope this helped

  • @ thechosenfew88

If your TV has an Optical in then yes get the DVI to HDMI

  • @40cal

    Thanks a lot bro.

  • @ thechosenfew88

    Your welcome.

  • @ SONY

I would see like a good idea with the current spike in PS3 sales to get the Heavenly Sword demo on the PSN ASAP.

Your early adaptors want it new customers need it. And it should create more hype for the system. I can only see it as a good marketing move to boost hardware sales more and boots software sales for said title.

Mabey tommorow? It will be Thur. you know. Thanks.

  • About coments 153-159.

This is why the PS3 comes with Composite cables.

  • i need a game to play i don’t care what it is anymore. heck ill even play a license game lol. anything but a sports game

  • I am playing Rainbow 6, The Darkness, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma right now.

  • yesterday was the first non-weekend day to not get a post.

and i want that damn heavenly sword demo.

  • Where art thou. bloggers!? Come back!!!

  • @Goodfella2487

If we get a new post they will come.

  • Umm I know we took a poll for the features we’d like to the site. I think the site is awesome first off…but i think we need to get it a little bit more organized…here we are talking completely off topic from the subject. I think the first 5 comments referred to the subject and then we started talking about PSP,price drops, tekken 6,hdtv cables, etc. Can we get something done about that eventually?

  • Oh! also, can’t our login names be associated with our PSN names? I think that’d be a pretty good way to get buddies on the PSN considering we all have similar thoughts and opinions.

  • @40cal

I know what you were referring to, but you have to understand that there will be many people who have no bought a 360 yet who will do so when Halo 3 comes out. Regardless of the installed base, that game will move systems, just as Halo 2 did when it came out. I see that, yes, the PS3 has picked up steam, and has maintained the #1 position on amazon.com, but it might lose some of that, and I would not attest that the public has recognized the better hardware of the PS3 just yet. After this holiday season, I think we’ll get a very good idea of where the market is going.

  • @deadxbabiesxinc

I think that would be a great idea, instead of having to ask each other what our PSN usernames are on here.( It’d be cool if it showed under our blog names as PSN ID: blah blah blah).

The only problem with so many people getting off topic, is that they don’t have no where else to post their questions. I for one, posted a question about the PSP under here, my guess is, that after a post has been posted weeks ago about a certain topic, for example the new PSP, that it wouldn’t be read as much as the newly updated ones. So people would find it more convenient posting their concerns and questions on the latest post. I at least expressed how nice it was for Sony to do such a thing for these kids, and then I went into the whole questions saga. I understand your complaint though. Having to scroll down so much by the non-topic comments people write like me is kind of annoying….Sorry!

  • Hey, while we have nothing to talk about how about everyone makes an avatar. Click on where your avatar is going to be and follow the directions. Please. Thank you.

but i need great apps to compliment such a great system so please help out the sony fan boys like me. i want to be able to make fun of all my friends that have xbox 360s especially with their very high crash rate of the system

    3. how is peter moore’s move to EA going to affect sony’s relationship with the company?

4.all in all great job at E3 keep up the good work scale down the bad ones hope u take my suggestions to be constructive

    thanks

  • I like it, however, I find it funny that a PR Specialist posted this, if you know what I mean.

Well, anyway, good job Sony, I’m sure they will like the new game systems.

  • IMPORTANT! About the 1.82 Firmware!

There is a bug in the fact that PS2 games video output is always either YUV or RGB Limited, even if RGB FULL is selected !

Basically with 1.82, everything (XMB, PS1, PS3 and BD/DVD movies) can be displayed in RGB (when BD/DVD is set to RGB too, of course) except PS2 games that are still output as YUV with no options to alter that, unfortunately.

This is annoying because the brightness is way too high and the image washed out when playing PS2 games after RGB FULL has been selected and the TV carefully calibrated for RGB FULL.

Also it would be a real plus having an “Upscale type setting” in the “PS menu” when playing PS2 games (normal or fullscreen). Are we supposed to alter the setting every time in the XMB according to the game we want to play? Annoying. The option would be much better directly accessible from the PS menu WHILE playing PS2 games.

    So to sum-up, Sony please:
    – Make an option to change the PS2 games video output to support RGB FULL like everything else so far on the PS3.
    – Add an option in the “PS menu” of PS2 games to alter the Upscale type setting. (normal of fullscreen)

    Thanks!
