I love how Sony always gets some humor in their press conference.
Unlike boring Nintendo with their numbers and Microsoft with their 1 year lead, lets see where Sony is in a year time from now compared to their DVD player.
No f1 game was announced this time, which surprised me.
Again great press conference!

Hopefully soon, is very soon. Although, Ninja Gaiden will keep be occupied :D

Lies.

Chuck-FN-Norris | July 12th, 2007 at 5:11 pm
@ Solice “right – because they really make money from you “giving your money” to them when the demo’s FREE. give me a break.”
Demos are a great marketing tool for the promotion of a game, if someone plays it and likes it they may purchase it. Personally I can’t wait until burned games are playable on the PS3. At least I won’t have a reason to complain. Oh no maybe I shouldn’t say that Sony may send me a rootkit.
107
the_culture | July 12th, 2007 at 5:11 pm
Oh, and he mentioned that Killzone 2 demo should be on the PSN in about an hour.

killgtx | July 12th, 2007 at 5:13 pm
O’really?
109
the_culture | July 12th, 2007 at 5:17 pm

Chuck-FN-Norris | July 12th, 2007 at 5:19 pm
@ the_culture Rumor says that GTAIV, and Halo 3 are going to be PS3 exclusives and released next week.
Is this true?
113
bricfa | July 12th, 2007 at 5:22 pm
Sony I just got this Idea…
Now this may sound a little weird, but how about you release some demos of the games showed at e3?
114
Kratos_ate_Snake | July 12th, 2007 at 5:23 pm
No way… thats crazy!
115
the_culture | July 12th, 2007 at 5:24 pm
@108
Depends if this is a running race or flying race.
@110
Halo 3 will remain a 360 exclusive… no real gamer wants that trash. As for GTAIV, 360 can have the exclusive content because MS loves to nickel and dime their customers.
Sadly, GTAIV will not be released next week… but it’s because Sony wants you to spend time with Heavenly Sword and Lair when they’re released.

Nismobeach | July 12th, 2007 at 6:18 pm
Please please please look into doing something about addressing the demo situation. Don’t spoil your successful showing at E3 by forgetting that the customers who buy your games want to sample them as well.

Kaze88 | July 12th, 2007 at 6:24 pm
Nice photos! Now the console war is truly starting, ps3 is back on the battle for real.
Really good games coming on this year, nice one guys, keep it going.

The PSN Swami has returned!
@114
PSN Swami thanks you for your kind words. As a token of his gratitude, he has rewritten the Sony E3 Press Release:
“Santa Monica, CA July 11th, 2007 – Sony Computer Entertainment of America announced today that they will kick Microsoft’s Xbox 360 into the ground with their brilliant lineup this year. With titles like Heavenly Sword, Lair, Ratchet & Clank Future, Home, LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Metal Gear Solid 4, and SOCOM: Confrontation, Xbox 360 gamers will be beating their chests in grief and jealousy.
PlayStation 3 loyalists will also be treated to amazing new titles such as PAIN, EchoChrome, High Velocity Bowling, and Everyday Shooter. PS3 fans will also have more money left over from NOT having to pay for online play, thus allowing gamers to spend that hard-earned cash on games and accessories.
Once PlayStation gamers have awakened from their ecstasy-induced coma, they will be able to enjoy more titles like Grand Theft Auto IV and All-Pro Football 2K8, Army of Two, and Kane & Lynch. After their thumbs have momentarily recuperated, another onslaught of gaming nirvana awaits them with titles like Killzone 2, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII Versus, Folklore, Eight Days, Infamous, Afrika, and Gran Turismo 5.
And if gamers still want more, get ready for the new EyeToy for the PlayStation 3. All this and more await those who were smart enough to select the PlayStation 3 as their platform of choice.”

Never mind about it not being there, the Stuntman demo is really on XBL. Waiting for it to finish. Hopefully its as good as people saying it is. Wish it would go on the PSN before I buy my PS3 this weekend.

I love playstation, and the conference was pretty good. But to be honest, I am sick and tired of pics and trailers of games to come. We have them coming out of our ears. Where are the demos. I’m not asking for them anymore, I am just going to ask where are they. You had over a dozen games playable at the conference, and you have had several games available to play at stores, ie: Devil May Cry and Heavenly Sword. Its disappointing at best. You promised major content would be in the store after the conference but all we get are trailers, thats nice but not necessary, you can get high quality trailers from a dozen sites. Please understand that trailers only work for a short amount of time before they only make people annoyed. Please DON”T HOLD TILL RELEASE!! ie: LAIR. I mean i’m not asking for KillZone here. We have been needing demos for a while. 360 is continuously getting demos of games that PS3 is also getting, but we get no demos. The last demo you gave us was Dynasty Warriors Gundam, it was fun, but NOT WHAT IS NEEDED. Plus the game has been out in japan for a while. I mean come on guys, we have been waiting patiently for GAMES GAMES GAMES, please give us something to take our minds off the wait. And i don’t mean casual games, they are nice and fun for a bit but they make you think, “I bought this power brick to play little DS games. Please remind me about why i bought my Playstation3, AND CHILL WITH THE TRAILERS. They are not special. From now on you should just be saying EXCLUSIVE demo on PS3. Oh and please don’t save it all for home, PLEASE DON’T SAVE EVERY THING FOR HOME!!!
131
indigovenom | July 12th, 2007 at 7:41 pm
DUDE FTW!!! That is what i am talking about!! When can we stop just “looking”. Stuntman is on both systems but it might as well be a 360 exclusive. Demos REALLY help sell games not to mention if they are released early they can help development. You have a high number of downloads for the PSstore not because of great content but because people just want something to download.
132
Kaze88 | July 12th, 2007 at 7:52 pm
@indigovenom
Heavenly sword, Lair and Uncharted are just in a finishing point. right after E3 they will do their finishing touches and fix bugs to get the games finished. So they dont got the time to make demos NOW. After their finished the game they will make the demos to us all to enjoy.
Just quit whining and be patient.
133
indigovenom | July 12th, 2007 at 8:06 pm
NO, first of all you are wrong. I know there are still in development, what game isn’t. But I’ll say this again, THERE ARE DEMOS AT STORES. Here in Japan, the store near me, YAMADA DENKI, HAS A DEVIL MAY CRY 4 DEMO, PLAYABLE. My brother is in Cali, constantly going to the store near him to play Heavenly Sword. They have demos. Every, game reviewing website has said that Sony had over a dozen playable titles. Also, i ‘m not just looking for first party stuff. 360 keeps owning demos of games that we should be getting, ie: BLACKSITE and STUNTMAN. Demos often get relaeased far before development is finished, ie: NINJA GAIDEN. This has always been the case for games. With PS2 i use to run to get the new PSM and OPM to get that demo disc. The METAL GEAR: SONS OF THE PATRIOT demo came out long before the actual game did. So don’t tell me they don’t have time. They all made demos for E3. Hideo will probably have a playable demo before we get one for layer, i mean since he will be playing MGS4 next week, usually after he plays it infront of every one it only takes a month to get the demo. Every company has time to make demos, demos are part of the business, and they help sell games.

also could you add an “edit post” feature to the blog. i’m not a great typist :(
135
the_culture | July 12th, 2007 at 8:18 pm
The PSN Swami has come to calm the swelling masses.
Let me say that the grass is never greener on the other side. Xbox 360 may be getting a lot of demos right now… but if we wait just a little while longer, look at what demos we’ll get: Lair, Heavenly Sword, Devil May Cry 4, Blacksite, and more.
Yeah it sucks to look at “the kids across the street” and all what they have, but it will be our turn soon and those suXbox kiddies will be jealous.

“Has the rumble controller been announced yet? Has anyone seen a Warhawk headset?”
Solace | July 12th, 2007 at 4:51 pm
@dbarrade
“the rumble is still in Rumourland…for now.
ebgames has a picture of the Warhawk bundlethough with a bluetooth headset. i don’t know if that’s an official one, or just something they put together, but go to their web site and do a search for it to see it.”
Rumble was confirmed on G4tv a while ago before the conference. They have an interview with Jack stating that the they came to a settlement with the lawsuit and the rumble controller will be released. when i don’t know.
137
indigovenom | July 12th, 2007 at 8:36 pm
they won’t be jealous about Blacksite, they already have that demo. Also, any other 3rd party title will be on XBL too, probably first. That doesn’t matter to me though. I want first party. Lair comes out in a few weeks, the game is probably finish and its just in mass production now, so…i say again…where is the demo?
138
Clover09 | July 12th, 2007 at 8:56 pm
Any Sony personal that reads this make sure you market these games like hell because these games show what the PS3 is all about and what Playstation stands for.
BTW, all the people complaing take a chill pill we will get demos and we already got lots of content from E3 and you guys should be greatful for that, hell they even gave us a Killzone 2 ans MGS4 trailers. I swear some of you guys remind me of that book “If you give a mouse a cookie” .

For those hoping to have a PS3 price cut in Europe can say goodbye to those hopes. As Sony has announced that it has no plans in cutting the price in Europe, but instead, are going to offer a “starter pack” which includes an extra controller(making it 2 in total), and 2 games, at the current price its at. No extra cost. Why is Sony doing this, is a really question. Doesn’t sound too bad. Atleast if they wasn’t hope for a price cut, now you get some extra stuff for the same price….

Gavi | July 12th, 2007 at 9:18 pm
Well if you look at Game’s pricing for the PS3 on their webpage (http://www.game.co.uk/browse.aspx?ref=topnav&cat=11482) . Those two games and extra controller gives a 95 pounds saving to the consumer. I’m sure retailers in Europe will be able to offer more with the bundle like a blu-ray movie, HD cables etc. It’s a great value bundle in my eyes. The two best games out on the platform are in the box.

trailers are for Gametrailers .com, I want something that i will actually keep on PS3
142
BusDriverNeal | July 12th, 2007 at 9:37 pm
nice screen shots but i have one question…
where is info on socom:confrontation????
its like sony doesnt even want the socom franchise anymore.. with the direction that socom 3/ca took, loosing many of its original fanbase i would think that sony would be marketing confrontation a bit more to lure those players back to socom and also into buying a ps3.. where is the love for socom sony????
p.s. a psp socom doesnt count…

GreyWulf | July 12th, 2007 at 10:05 pm
Hey there is a new demo video please are you guys gonna make it available on the Playstation Store?
144
robcam73 | July 12th, 2007 at 10:33 pm
Sony you really take the piss. You drop the price in the US (where it is already only £300) and the Europe you give us 2 extra games and a controller (where is rumble? ). Thanks for not much. Guess we will have to wait for you to drop the price or stick with the Wii :(. Certainly not getting 360 until they sort out their motherboard problems and stop ripping people off with Live (Like that will ever happen).
Come on Sony.I like many others really want a PS3. You and we know it is too expensive here. Be fair to your customers and sopporters (even us Europeans. What do you have against us anyway?)
145
Teknoman | July 12th, 2007 at 10:58 pm
Hopefully we’ll get a Lair demo since that releases in August. That Heavenly Sword E3 build looked playable enough to be consider a demo for E3, And a Ratchet & Clank demo would be nice as well. Stranglehold too.
146
GreyWulf | July 12th, 2007 at 11:46 pm
Are we gonna get more downloads of Killzone on the Playstation store ive seen some other video that was shown at E3 please sony put that on the store?
147
Darkendless | July 13th, 2007 at 12:31 am
SCEE President just revealed that there is in fact NO PRICE DROP. Just when I thought Sony was going to make a turn around and overtake the 360 with the PS3, they drop the ball.
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=26704
Please make the 80GB a limited edition while keeping the 60GB the standard!!!! I do not want to see Playstation fail!
148
GreyWulf | July 13th, 2007 at 12:37 am
Oh well that just means that after they sell out of the million or so units out there that are 60gig they will then drop the price of the 80gig by christmas
After all the only difference is the HDD and 20 gig more does not cost $100 more to put in
149
Delriach | July 13th, 2007 at 12:38 am
heh, news about that 60 gig thing went out quick.

Apollo_Creed | July 13th, 2007 at 12:39 am
Sorry, but I have to say that Europe is getting a piss again. The PS3 is already cheaper in Japan and now also in America, but not in Europe. Instead of a price-cut you put out a starterpack on the market with Resistance, MotorStorm and a second controller for 599 euro’s. What is gonna happen with the normal pack for 599? Is it gonna be replaced by the starterpack?? The response on Sony’s decision in Europe is really bad! If you read the sites and the forums, then you see a lot of dissapointed people, because they expected a price-cut. A lot of people aren’t gonna buy this starterpack and are gonna wait till a real price-cut comes. This isn’t a good situation for Sony in Europe. First there was gonna be a price-cut, but now the price-cut is not gonna happen. The PS3 is now 150 euro’s!!! cheaper in the US then in Europe and a lot of European people aren’t to happy about that. Sony keeps saying that Europe is a important market for Sony, but they are not showing it! First of all Europe got the PS3 a half year later, we get games week till monts later, we get much less content in de PSN store, we got a stripped down backwards compatibilty and now we have to pay more for our PS3. People who want to buy a PS3 now have no choose and the MUST buy 2 games and a controller, while some people don’t like Resistance or MotorStorm or don’t want a second controller. A lot of Europeans aren’t gonna buy a PS3 now. They feel not taking seriously and they feel that they are paying to much compared to the Japanese and the Americans. Europe is really loyal to Playstation, but is seems that it is not appreciated. The 360 and the Wii are very succesfull in Europe. The PS3 is doing ok, but for the most people 599 is to expensive. This starterpack is not gonna increase the sales in Europe, it is gonna decrease the sales in Europe. A lot of people are gonna wait for a real price-cut. A real bad move Sony! You are showing a real real bad message to Europe.
