A lot of noise has been made recently about the reliability issues of one of our competitor’s systems. So, not surprisingly, some of our more ambitious PlayStation faithfuls decided to run their own stress test on the PlayStation 3. They put it in a freezer at zero degrees for up to 108 hours and they put it in a sauna at 120 degrees for up to 64 hours — all the while running games and Blu-ray Disc movies on it. Did it fail? Nope. Like the Energizer Bunny, it kept going and going and going. Probably not something you want to try at home, but our thanks to the guys at PS3 Vault for putting our system through the ringer. I knew it ever since the SMASHMYPS3 video came out, the guy took more than 5 minutes to tke out the top part of the PS3, I mean… that is some something hard to break.

My ps3’s have been running f@h continuously since I purchased them months ago, without a hitch, and I’m confident that like my Betamax they’ll continue to run for many many years to come. I’ve gotten to level 15 on f@h and have the Jade Monkey and Jeweled dagger, does anyone know where the Eye of the Oracle is? Yes I looked in the spenseweed, it’s not there.
You know, it is impossible to deny that there are thousands of 360s failing all over the place. It really is sad.
Sony really needs to use the X360’s failures in its strategy (Even if subliminally). I’ve ran my PS3 for 15 hours straight with no hitch. It’s on about 7 hours a day… whether I’m playing/chatting/watching a movie/downloading/etc.

Can you put up a Blog asking Current PSP owners what colors would they like to see released at the launch of the new PSP here in the US?

But anyway I am glad I won’t have to worry about my PS3 overheating or breaking. You should implement this into your ads, especially since those M$ people are getting so cocky.
Would you guys mind commenting on the recent statements by a Ubisoft Developer claiming that “the PS3 can’t handle AI nearly as well as the 360”
It seems more of the same type of stuff addressed in your “Is the PS3 Really Harder to Develop For?” blog… But it would be nice to get an official response to the attack on the PS3’s capabilities.
It is nice to have something these articles about this can print to balance out the reporting.
I have been very happy with the PS3 hardware since the first day I have owned it. It seems obvious to me that most of the nay sayers simply don’t have one. Hopefully they will realize the quality of the system soon.
Sounds like Sony’s only concerned with the fact that Carvel can now have a PS3 stay in the back freezer and continue folding without failing :P

I think there’s no question that the PS3 is the more reliable console and as a consumer I take pride in my decision to buy this console. I just wish that we had games like BioShock to on the PS3. I’m really tempted to buy the unreliable 360 after playing the BioShock demo. As a loyal PS fan and a gamer I must say these are trying times for me personally.
I’m just having a hard time getting excited about the console anymore. I’m sure that Warhawk will be great. I’ve played it as a beta tester and I loved every minute of it. But it doesn’t have the great single player story that BioShock is promising. I’ve heard it being compared to the original Half Life. The PS3 needs its own system defining game. I just don’t know how long I can hold on for that to happen. I know that I’m going to love GT5 Prologue and that I’ll have a lot of fun with Heavenly Sword, MGS4 and Killzone 2 but the waiting is killing me. I want to play GOOD games NOW. Not in 3 months or 6 months. I’m just so mentally exhausted, I know that sounds ridiculous, but I am. It’s killing me to even consider dropping another $500 on the other console.
As far as gaming is concerned I’m just at the breaking point of buying the lower scored games for the PS3 or just buying the other console.
I’ve had my ps3 running non stop, and i bought it back in march. hell I don’t even bother turning it off anymore.

i stopped using my 360 the first time it broke, if microsoft isnt willing to sell a quality game console worth the 400 im not gonna wait for it to get “fixed” over and over, my fuggin ps1 still works.

I hope this good publicity will help boost sales even more. I can’t count how many of my friends wanted to buy a PS3 after the 360 defective debacle. The only problem holding my friends is the PS price.

The report comes to no suprise to me. Sony no matter if it is the playstation brands, or computers, or stereos, etc… Build their products to last. People gave you guys a lot of flack for coming out a year after m$, but remember they rushed their systems. I handle mail where I work and every day we get at least 2 360’s who need to be sent back to M$ for repairs. Sony you rock

yeaaa like the guy at future shop told me he dont know what they put in the 360 maybe recycling compu part……. that machine !@## if all that can make microsoft spend his money that can be a good thing, sad for player but its their choice lol. SOny put games for psp their no one in psstore :( that soooo sad and every one i speak about ps3 in montreal and when they have they told me that soooo bad and they suggest me to hack my psp but im really not for that soooo DO SOMETHING ……. at least just pu one game ffVII !!!!!!!!!!

Sony is all about Quality and the PS3 is all about Quality it wont die on you like the 360 after a year

The 360 would catch on fire if put through the same trials.. I know because none of my 360s since launch can make it in my chilly room. All this time my launch PS3 folds 24/7 without issue and is available to game on anytime I wish.

Knowing that the PS3 is at least a 10 year system (10 years at retail, even supported longer by me), I know the awesome games are coming.
360 owners had to wait almost 2 years for games like BioShock and Halo 3 to come out (had to wait a over a year for Gears of War). So I know it’s all good in the hood.
From my hands on impressions of Uncharted, Ratchet Future, and Heavenly Sword, the PS3’s first year lineup crushes whatever any other console had in their first year, so I am confident that we haven’t even seen the tip of the iceberg…
