Following up on my entry earlier this week, without walking you through the whole score, I wanted to call out a few tracks that stand out as prime examples of the principal themes contained in the score for LAIR. When you hear the elegant strains of the “Civilization” theme (Asylia theme), you’ll notice hints at the scope and power of the Asylian culture. It is high culture indeed, yet there is a dark side here.
“Crossing at Dawn-Bridge Battle” is an example of some of the more brutal and textural musical colors. Using primitive skin drums and ethnic woodwinds such as the “Makruna” and “Phillistine horn,” the ethnic side of Lair is revealed. This is a world we have only dreamed of, and for me, listening to the score, it comes to life. Musically, we must experience the majesty and scope of this world, and highlight its many sounds.
I could go on for quite a while describing the beauty of, for instance, Karen Han’s incredibly moving Erhu solo on “Mokai theme,” but that’s enough from me for today, so I’ll step back and let you the listener enjoy for yourself the amazing world of LAIR.

FarHad you misspelled your login name. It should be “FartHead”
Anyways, I would understand your frustration at Sony too. I mean, I’d be pissed too if I were a 360 owner and just heard this soundtrack.

@ Loucifer
So you complain about not getting Demos, then get a Demo, then complain that XB 360 has had the Demo longer… am I missing anything?
Honestly, I think everyone here knows how unhappy you are.

Loucifer, go buy your 360 already. Pfft it ain’t like Sony’s gonna beg you to stay.
You’re the one who’s gonna miss out on their future games.

Off topic.
You guys and gals at Sony should buy the rights to M.U.G.E.N.
If you don’t know what that is, it’s a 2D fighting game engine in which people get to create their own fighters, and download sprites of characters from other games like Dragon Ball Z, Street Figther, ad infinitum. There are no limits to the amounts of characters you can have, and it’s a global phenomenon.
Its perfect for the PS3 because characters can be saved on the HDD and you can make a mint off of downloads.
You should REALLY consider it. I know tons of people who LOVE the game, and it would bring a lot of sales to the PS3. Even if you just put the Engine itself on the PSN for download, you can still make a lot of money because it would be great using a console controller and possibly other features that you can’t get on a PC in that game.
Think about it.
It’s perfect for your user centric business model.

Well, when and where can we get the soundtrack separately? iTunes Music Store? PSN Download? CD? What?

Sony, what the heck! Why won’t you release these demos! First Lair, now Ratchet! Why wait?! And what’s with not giving us 3rd party game demos, Xbox Live get’s them! I thought you were listening!

LAIR, the Gameinformer Review.
Score 8
As a fulfillment of childhood dragon-flying fantasies, Lair triumphs through its phenomenally huge conflicts and vicious vertigo-inducing midair duels. Your dragon is like a nuclear bomb in a knife fight, capable of turning the tide in a conflict of thousands. Your score is actually the tonnage of destruction left behind in the wake of your passing. Variety fills up the gameplay experience, from a remarkably well thought out switch-up of mission styles to the evocative orchestral score that weaves its way through the game. This variety extends to the numerous combat moves available in a fight - enough to offer excitement in what is otherwise a relatively simple gameplay mechanic. I’m not a fan of the color palette for the game, filled as it is with so many earthy hues that objects just don’t stand out on the screen at times. While the motion controls for flight are unique, they’re also the weakest aspect of the title - it was several hours into the game before I felt like I had a firm handle on moving around. Even so, Rogue Squadron fans would know that this was a Factor 5 game without seeing the logo - it’s not the longest ride, but you’ll be coming back again and again for those brief flashes of gameplay brilliance. — MILLER
Warhawk next week then LAIR. Cant wait.
