PS3 Stress Test

Posted by Dave Karraker // Sr. Director, Corporate Communications

A lot of noise has been made recently about the reliability issues of one of our competitor’s systems. So, not surprisingly, some of our more ambitious PlayStation faithfuls decided to run their own stress test on the PlayStation 3. They put it in a freezer at zero degrees for up to 108 hours and they put it in a sauna at 120 degrees for up to 64 hours — all the while running games and Blu-ray Disc movies on it. Did it fail? Nope. Like the Energizer Bunny, it kept going and going and going. Probably not something you want to try at home, but our thanks to the guys at PS3 Vault for putting our system through the ringer. Check out their full report.

If the PS3 is so indestructible, then why do the demo PS3’s at the stores freeze up? I’m just sayin….

In the 6 months I have had my PS3 it has froze 3 times! My 360 lasted only 5 months before croaking…

I just saw the PlayTV release and noticed it’s only for DVB-T. Is there going to be a DVB-C model for us Cable users! it’s CABLE TV where the high quality HDTV resides… the terrestrial HD streams are quite garbage in comparison…

All i have to say is NINTENDO WII! It’s the best system. i have the Ps2 and i loved it until i got the wii. i could not wait for the ps3 and then i heard about game publishers not producing many games for it. i was disappointed.. I have played both xbox 360 and ps3 and i must say Nintendo is taking you both to school.

My PS3 was working very well until suddenly the fan started going crazy. I hope I’ll be able to transfer the hard drive contents to the new PS3 i’m sure to get when I make my claim.

I’ve heard a few stories about this happening to other people. At least it’s not as bad as the 360.

This is a little of subject but I would like to see the PS3 with its own chat client to bring the online comunity to geather. Like yahoo messenger or aol somthing of that such so u can meet new ppl all over the world and add them as a friend or play a game with them. Righ now u have to know some one eles with a PS3 in order to add them as a friend or chat with them. But if we had a comunity of chat rooms we could meet new ppl.
