Hey everyone, time for another fantastic PLAYSTATION Store update. First off, you’ll notice that we’ve updated some of the thumbnails in the Store. There are new genres for the Game Demos category. Hopefully, this makes it easier to get to the content you want. Oh, and speaking of content, we’ve heard a lot of folks asking about the NHL Demo and Poker and yes, we’ve got them both this week — and a whole lot more. Check it out.

PS3 needs a revamped PS Store
the one thing that makes me a ps fanboy is their vision.. it seems to me that they are subscribing to “if you build it, they will come”. I like that and i think they’re doing fine all things considered. psp, ps3, psn, ps store.. it’s all a work in progress.. with a vision of the future behind it. For example, take a deeper look at playstation home from a business perspective and you’ll realize that sony isn’t remotely going to let their current entertainment platforms just go the way of sega. All the whining i’ve seen is typical of the instant gratification junkie. I think the sony entertainment platforms are like a good wine.. only going to get better with time.. keep up the hard work sony!
Wait EVERYBODY we are boycotting Capcom until they give us PS3 owners Dead Rising and Lost Planet Remember how we got betrayed?

After the 1.93 update I cant log on to my PSN Store. Only gets a White Store page, were I can see the Abou Us and so on. Nothing works…
Damnit! Whanted to play the fifa demo..

To the people complaining about a Lair demo. It wouldn’t do the game justice for a demo of the game, believe me. For 2, the download time on a demo for lair would be thru the roof crazy… Each level in the game is bordering on 2 gig’s about… Add other mb onto that for menu’s and other such… It’d take you 4 days to dl it and you all would be crying about that too.
Read my review of Lair on my blowsite and or gametrailers… It’s the only 100% honest review you’ll find on the net, that’s for sure.
Lair is so worth the price of admission, to sum it all up.
Why would a 2gb download take me 4 days?
Normally a 1gb download takes me an hour.

how I speed it up is by pausing and resuming the download every minute or so. for some reason I be downloading like @ around 1mbps but then it just stops or goes really really slow. pausing and resuming keeps it @ 1mbps for me…
Depending on where you are your DLing will change. Me, I don’t complain about the lenght of downloading. I get some super fast, others super slow… Most of the time I download something, I wish I had the time it took back, cause the games end up blowing, sucking and clucking all at the same time.
Tonyhawk, anyone? Some of the worst graphics seen this gen. Bar none. It litterally looks like a PS2 game on upscale.
Biggest downfall this gen was the ps2. It is killing PS3 and xbox 360, cause these developers aren’t taking full advantage of either system because they’re making the games on ps2 1st.
It blows.
Anyways, my dowloading time doesn’t effect me. I could care less. Most everyone is crying about them, however.

I’d like to make a mention to all those that keep complaining about the “IN GAME XMB”…well basically i was going through the site and i found this http://uk.playstation.com/games-media/release-calendar/ ….its always been there just never really found a need for it because play.com is my source for release dates….but! if you scroll down the list to Home it mentions that its release is Jul-Sept 2007 – http://uk.playstation.com/games-media/release-calendar/
And by just gathering from all the reports the In-game XMB was rumoured to be released with Home….and its the end of September now….so thought you’d all like to know ^_^
Can I ask one thing? I’m from Europe and all hese things look great but we’re are left with the less popular stuff. I mean we still haven’t got Tekken Dark Ressurection Online, we’re still waiting for the number of PS1 games the US has as well as many demos, videos and add on packs and games such as Piyotama or Blast Factor Advanced Research.
I don’t mean to moan but it get really annoyed when I compare the stores. Also the Hong Kong/Japanese store has even more then both the UK and US, mainly PS1 games.
Please Sony, get your act together and have things put on all stores within a week of other countries!

Btw the in game update should be out the end of this month….because if you check the official release list it mentions that Home is released between Jul-Sept and since its half way through…it should be just around the corner….and because of the rumours about Home and the In Game being released at the same time…it would fit up nicely….but we only just had an update some Home will probably be seperate :P

No, the same problems occur with xbox live when a demo is released, the servers take a huge beating.
When a day or two passes you can then download it no problem, since there arent over a million people trying to download the same thing.

No… probably not. It’s being published by Microsoft and sigma sold like 600,000 units worldwide. Tecmo is finished with Sony.. believe me. Sony’s only hope would be if the sales were to skyrocket over the holidays by about 400,000 units and Tecmo allowed the sigma crew to do a remake of it down the line.
So, basically, no. When you see a game on xbox 360 “dead rising” “saints row” “Lost planet” “Mass effect” Bank on it being there and only there. Sony missed the ball with all these exclusives and now they’re paying for it.
Sony thought they could get by with their shoddy attempts at certain genres….
Getaway vs GTA — We all know how this went.
NBA vs NBA live & NBA 2k — Again, nobody buys those abysmal nba games. They get live or 2k ones. Quality ones.
Sony banked and relied too much on their 1st pary in house guys and it blew right up in their face.
Unless Sony has someone working on a Zombie game … I’ll forever be upset.
Still not satisfied with this update. Sony! Those PSone classic need to be updated especially all those games like Metal Gear Solid, Twisted Metal, and some Final Fantasy games

I WANT TO EXPERINCE NINJA GAIDEN 2!!! I wont get an xbox 360 for it, that game was awsome.
For those who said there has been nothing but sports demos released lately. I just noticed it yesterday afternoon myself, but the Stranglehold demo is up. I had to go into the alphabetical view to find it though.
I had no internet connection for a while. Maybe I just missed that week entirely. I’m only mentioning it because I haven’t heard anything about it, good or bad.
lower the price for the poker game! i want it but im not spending $10 for it. maybe $4.99 or $5.99.
I know it’s outta place, but I’ve been trying to play Lair on my 1080i TV but it looks really dark when the dragon is facing up or towards the sun. I’ve tried everything possible to fix it but nothing has worked. Is the game supposed to look like that? It hurts my eyes waaaay too much to play. And on another note, the game looks okay but DAMN those bushes scattered all over the mountains look REALLY bad. They seriously look 2-D sprites. I was really suprised at how bad they looked, they stand out so much in the levels because of it.
What about Playstation Store in Poland? We’re in Europe too. Don’t treat as like third world :/

@284 – Agreed. I bought Stacked for PS2. I honestly think Stacked looks better. And whats with the multi only being up to 6 players? Most tournaments I’ve seen are 9 a table.
It was a good thought, but definitly needs to have more people if it’s going to be any fun or t least for the sake of realism. Definitly not worth $10. I don’t think I spent much more than that on Stacked, and I got a box, disk, and manual.

But, yeah, NG2 will be exclusive at least for a few years, like NG1 was.
And awesome with the demos! I may end up getting the Harry potter game… It’s a HORRIBLE game based on the demo, but it’s great fanservice… They mention botruckles and S.P.E.W and a lot of other things left out of the movies (Peeves!) so I’d get it just for that reason… At least a good rental.
Why can’t Sony work on a global store?
Valve are capable of managing global rollouts of games and demos on the Steam Network, I can’t see why such a barrier exists for Sony too. Steam even seems to support different release dates for different regions, but at least content is release to everyone, not the one-region-at-a-time system Sony are currently using.
US site or not, this is the only official blog so it carries the face of the PlayStation brand globally. Let the Euro/AU/NZ/UK regions complain, we not only have the right, but a gaping need express our disappointment, and we have no other viable or official outlets.
The Australian region has the biggest uptake of the PS3 per-capita than any other region world-wide, yet we constantly get shafted with content, not only with Playstation Store content but with retail release dates as well.
Having to wait longer for retail releases is old-ha for us Aussies but for digital distribution I really can’t any additional barriers to entry, which leaves only a few reasons why we get so little, one of them is lack of commitment. To say that the lack of love for PS3 fans down-under stings is an understatement. A few more months of this and I’ll won’t think twice about selling my PS3 for an XBOX360, at least they seem to know how to release content globally.
Well Cameron I would hould off on selling your PS3. You may not know this, hell a lot of people don’t, but M$ is just about ready to pull the plug on that ol XBOX project and not by choice. Why? great Q! Sense its conception suxbox i mean xbox has lost over 5 BILLION DOLLARS. Inversters are just about ready to iduno stop losing money. Which is why those same inversters are saying if xbox dosen’t sale x amount of units buy this holiday season that very well could sell the end. This also could explian why they are hell bent on now and not the future like sony whos sales are slow but steady growing. Suxbox capped is out.

look it up for yourself as I did these things are not hard to find if you know what your looking for. which in this case would be hard numbers and not the that you own both who really cares about that. Numbers don’t lie inversters don’t lie when it could cost them money and i am a few hours away form owning obth just as soon as i get off. this purchase is what led to my invetigation. Xbox is currently doing well in the U.S. thats it and those nubers are falling. doint you know how to read a buisness chart, plan or whatever. M$ only made xbox in the first place b/c the software apps it uses helps M$ hold on to the monopoly which IS being threaten stop playing games and reading opinions and keep up with the market yourself instead of what people tell you.
