I am also a multiconsole owner and have been very disappointed with the state of PSN (and retail PS3 games too). Sony has really dropped the ball this generation and the excuse that it came out a year later than 360 won’t cut it forever. How long will we have to be patient and just wait a little longer for the good stuff when some of us paid $200 more for the PS3 than the 360?

The problem Sony has is that the average consumer looking to buy a console TODAY doesn’t care when the PS3 came out - they’re just going to objectively compare what they get with each system and PS3 comes up short hands down. Fewer games (and more importantly fewer good games), less robust features, and inferior online.

While the Thursday updates have shown improvement the past few weeks it is still abysmally behind what the competition is offering every day. I’ve already downloaded and played all of these demos so there is little incentive to download them again on the much slower PSN servers - meaning I’ll get the 360 retail version instead. That’s bad for Sony.

Sony should save Thursday updates for PS1 and new downloadable games, but release demos and trailers as soon as they are available.

I don’t understand the blind loyalty from some of you. This is business - pure and simple. When these companies give me a compelling reason to purchase product I do so. I didn’t buy a PS3 because Sony made it. I bought it so I could buy any game I wanted in a store and not be in a situation where I didn’t have the system and couldn’t play. The problem is the games still aren’t there and the competition was in much better shape with releases at this stage in it’s cycle.

there are no complaints on 360s blog about needing games.all u can say is games on the way 4 sony…a real gamer knows and plays both console …so why hat-on me for telling sony down fall …games never get set back 4 360…THE TRUTH IS THE TRUTH

I am also getting the stuck download problem! The problem isn’t the speed (1+MB/sec) but after a certain percentage, the download just stops and won’t start regardless of how many times you pause/unpause the download. Come on Sony!

Well I would still be a multiconsole owner but my launch 360 crashed too many times for me to keep it. Thats why I support the PS3 as much as I do, because I got screwed by M$.

maybe you should go to the store and look at the shelves. there are several games out RIGHT NOW THAT ARE GREAT AND EXCLUSIVE TO THE PS3. but oh no, you guys are just using the same “bash” all the time. maybe you should look around before saying there are no games. I have 5 games and 1 more coming this weekend. I haven’t beat any of them. I am fine with the game selection right now.

yes, I am sorry that the PS3 isn’t filled with FPS like another console is. I guess that’s why you hate on it so much. Look, the PS3 has more variety. We don’t have 4700 shooters. We like all types of games. Go on back to the 360 and play all your shooters.

halo 3’s ending was terrible, worst than halo 2’s ending which wasnt that bad. They killed the ending. This is going to affect the score.

Why would halo take GOTY? It never has and never will. Bioshock has a higher chance of taking it.

@104 - no I’m not contradicting myself. I simply naively believed Sony’s promises regarding online offerings (games/features) steady game releases. Based on past history, I thought it was safe to assume the PS3 would have a lot of good games by now. I guess I learned my lesson and will wait before buying another Sony console near launch in future generations.

Also, your later comment about variety is laughable. You do realize that the console you refer to as the “shooter” console has more RPG’s (and J-RPG’s at that) than the PS3 don’t you? For the record, it also has more sports games, driving games, RTS games, and arcade/casual games.

Ironically enough, the PS3 has an unusually large percentage of shooting games released and/or announced at this point. Aren’t you contradicting yourself when you derisively term the 360 a shooter console and then praise Resistance and Warhawk as your favorite games in an earlier post???

I guess not. go back to 2000 and read some of the articles from the media. then read the articles from this year from the media about the PS3. wow….boy those sound exactly the same.(zero games, hard to develop for, competition easier to develop for, competition has more games).

and we all see how that turned out. Where is the Dreamcast now?

you obviously haven’t played a single game on the PS3…so why even speak about it’s games? have you played Warhawk? obviously not. Heavenly Sword? obviously not. Motorstorm? obviously not. NG:S? obviously not. Oblivion? it’s better on the PS3.

why don’t you sell your PS3? you clearly state there are no games…so why keep it?

Are the PLAYSTATION Store network issues being looked into? Every Thursday it’s usually the same thing, a ton of people are downloading stuff and things get really slow. I’m just wondering if there’s even anything being done about it because I’ve been trying to download LocoRoco for the past hour and a half.

i played the couple of demos in ps3 nothing good but r.f.o.m. and if anything eles was good alrady was on 360 ,… now dont u feel like a nut…..thats my whole point the 10 games sony has ther is no demo..who cares if ps3 software is better ther not using it thats why i play my 360…if u had a choice u would 2

Even if Jessica Alba changed her name to Xbox 360, I would choose a PS3. The 360 has nothing to offer that the PS3 doesn’t outshine. Viva Pinata? Give me LBP. Halo? RFOM, Haze, and Killzone 2 are more than enough. Xbox Live? The PSN guys are actually polite.

great store update from SCEA, personally i can’t even remember what was on the UK one apart from loco. now downloading skate and stuntman. buying loco over the weekend from UK sometime i guess. you guys have the best store!! thank you sony america, if only sony europe were as giving as you. oh and i wonder what happened to the motorstorm vehicle pack this week? you guys had them 2 weeks ago and it’s a UK developed game.

no trouble with freezing downloads so far, maybe everyone was trying to grab them all at once, usually i wait until the weekend before hitting the US store but skate made me drop in early

happy gaming people. still waiting for my local shop to get the warhawk blu-ray.

Argh! Another great US PSN update, another lackluster EU (which Australia is somehow part of) update. Lets summarise:
Last week US: 2 games, 5 demos, countless trailers
Last week EU: 1 trailer
This week US: 4 demos, 1 expensive screensaver
This week EU: 1 expensive screensaver and some perviously pulled PS1 games.

I can’t take it… need… games… argh!

There’s some solace in the fact Locoroco is AU$5. Possibly the first time in history a Sony released product is cheaper in Oz than the US. Wohoo! Take that US. Are you jealous?
