• #94 Sollus: Are you serious ? Sony is going to lose hundreds of millions without the previously rumored price cut this holidays and you want them to just delay everything for 12 months because that’s ok for you ?
I wonder if you are a Microsoft employee in disguise here. The only one getting a revenue out of Sony mis-management with delays and no price cuts is Bill Gates and Microsoft that will sell more than they ever expected, that’s the point.
Sony is killing the PS3. No price cuts in the next 4 weeks for the holidays and maybe the PS3 at just $399 in April 2008 it’s more than just disappointing, it’s frustrating potential customers. Many won’t bother and will keep buying/playing with the old PS2, some will assemble an HTPC for watching HDTV movies, many won’t bother buying a BD or HD-DVD player at all, the majority will simply buy a cheap DVD/DiVX with HDMI 1080i upscaling for their new HDTV displays and that’s it.

Sony could have managed to earn billions this holiday if only the group managers had a bit of understanding to grasp the current market situation and average Joe frustration as well as general ignorance about all that’s HDTV related.

• Is the TGS finished??? As i am still waiting for something interesting, all i have heard so far are the same old stuff from E3 and that Home has been delayed. What hapened to the new IP’s, new games for 2008, if you ask me this was a major anti-climax to what has been an average 6months for Sony.
Boring, boring, boring, and pls if i see another R&C video i’m not buying it, you can over-advertise a product you know,

• “”The rumble feature on the DualShock 3 is the same as DualShock 2.” The controller does not feature any new advanced form of rumbling”.. WHY???.. also don’t like the 15 hour LESS battery life..

• The top suits at SONY Copr just think that the PS brand is just as strong as it used to be.

Its completely laughable, those douchebags just want to squeeze as much money out of the brand as they and they seem to think that consumers are so blind enough to do so.

I hear there’s perhaps going to be a another event later this month where they’re going to unveil Wardevil and Heavy Rain, I could be wrong though.

About the rumble, I think the new touchsense is restricted to Sony for now. Remember when Microsoft wanted to sue Immersion? I believe its because Microsoft didnt like the sound of Sony aquireing a new rumble technology to compete with their own. It would be a definite advantage.

• …oh and on a finishing note. I Seriously hope that Sony corp doesnt ignore Europe like it HAS BEING THIS WHOLE F-ing time.

Sony has been putting a large wet dump so far on Europe to such a degree that Microsoft sees the opprtunity and are now making it their top priority.

I wonder Sony will realize that this how most people see this thing… as one large race for victory. People arent as dense as they used to be to not see it.

My honest thoughts are that SCE is probably a huge mess right now, especially after Kutaragi’s “departure”.

• Jesus you freaks have problems.

No one here needs to argue over anything, there is no need, nor infliction to begin such dispute. Yet you keep at it, like rabid dogs hungry for meat, looking to pick every last piece until there is nothing left but a shambled skeleton. It is demeaning and sick to think that this recreational space is being used so you idiots can argue over what you want. Like children you sit and bicker about who’s got the bigger hard on for a console manufacturer, when it never mattered, you are all a number or notch under a respective belt. You’re a statistic, just a useless body to represent a corporate invisible face. Oh, did that hurt? Probably not, because you’re too numb from the raw idiocy it requires to b*tch as hard as you all do, at each others expense nonetheless, and don’t try to give me that whole “but Sony lied to me!” bulls**t, because it’s a tired argument. Why don’t you just accept reality, that it doesn’t f***ing matter. Play the damn video games.

Play them.

Because that is what they are for. Play all of them, support the industry, or go the hell away, play volleyball, get laid, do whatever, I don’t care! I am just so sick of the hostile environment this has become. At this rate, they mine as well just shut this big box (of damaging PR from children) down because it isn’t doing them any good at all. They listened to you (you got your damn rumble right?? Even I complained about how we aren’t getting it til spring in the US AND UK, but I still am GLAD WE ARE GETTING IT!) Regardless it showed that Sony listened to us, and responded in kind, and we know in game XMB should be arriving soon, so there you go? What more do you want? Oh, that’s right, Home.

Lemme hit ya with a little thing about Home.

See, here’s the thing, I predicted this whole shindig getting delayed about a month or two back. In the progress they had been feeding us was never confirmed, they never touched the public beta stage they were supposed to, and even Phil Harrison said in a few interviews after E3 that most of those cool new features wouldn’t be in the initial release, which caused and outrage, particularly on here, so in order to finish it TO YOUR STANDARDS, it has been pushed back to finish development and have proper polish time, so that we don’t get a box full of lies. Or glitches. Gotta love a box of glitches. Plus they said the fall PUBLIC BETA is still coming, so by the end of october, or late november, we will have Home, it just won’t be in final form. So stop complaining about that too.

@rukusa

Yeah, duh. But MS and Nintendo are the same way, they just have better marketing.

• Thanks for links!

Sign J. Mak and keep him happy!

And let him get some rest before he gets started on his next great project… Once Everyday Shooter is polished up for me first though! =)

• @106; i like rumble too but don’t understand the way Sony is handling things, sure call it bad PR maybe you can explain why a five month wait? And now it’s coming back why not improve it? now’s the chance! or is there another pad in the making.. Sure Sony answers to the fan base but only to ad more questions. I know Sony is working on allot of stuff, I know that for years by now, I think Sony has been to open about their plans for now the expectancy is way too high and that’s what hurting them at the moment. Sony is trying to serve Europe better i got the slim on Sept.1 in Holland. But not taking in account the fact that Europe exists out of many countries and regions it’s not ONE like many seem to think. I happen to understand why Sony is having a hard time over here.. Apple has the same problem. just look at the damn iPhone. And Home.. well Sony claimed they wanted to make home for PS2 but where hampered by broadband.. so how is it it’s not ready for PS3? knowing it’s supposed to compete with MS live. Seems to me something has gone very wrong. Also if Sony wanted to sell more systems.. then all they need to do is start selling those pre-paid cards over here.. PSN “store” is pretty useless for Sony the way it is now… all it is is a demo download service, all that bandwidth is given away for free.

• Nice to finaly hear from rumble controller, I didnt buy 3rd(sixaxis) controller because of these rumors of stating dual shock3. Now its official so cant wait :)

Also some neat games where anounched.

oh also!
this is a bit offtopic but I think sony wants to hear suggestions too, expecialy on PSP-PS3 cofunctions.

.:[SUGGESTION]:.

The sitsuation:
Psp has many games, with lack of online multiplayer. But on the otherside it has MANY games with Ad-hoc multiplayer games, but the problem with players usualy is to find a group of 4 with psp and the same game. PS3 however has neat functions that could be used with this suggestion:
– Friendlist
– PSP wireless functions
– Easy access to internet

What function do I suggest:

How about makeing PS3 able to act as ad-hoc signal reciever and sender.
So that you could choose group of players on your friend list (who have psp) and then those players would all be able to
play multiplayer games of psp online with their psp.

This is already somewhat bossible with use of:
– Wifi-max for psp
– Xlink Kai ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XLink_Kai )

So why not make it simple and add this available for PS3 players PSP.
It could be key element to make psp-ps3 connectivity superrior against competitors.

• **FIX

This is alredy somewhat bossible with use of PC trough:
– Wifi-max for psp
– Xlink Kai ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XLink_Kai )

• I was a little underwhelmed by the announcements made. I mean, I own a PSP and a PS3, and I rarely take advantage of the remote play functionality because of the practicality of it all. I mean, wireless hotspots still aren’t that common, at least in my city. And even still, if you’re riding a bus from one area of the city to another, you’re not going to have 100% access to that one hotspot anyway. Add on top of that the fact that wireless sucks the PSP battery dry more so than playing UMD games, and I am a bit of a skeptic.

Now, I like the fact that rumble is added to the PS3 controller. I just wish they would say the truth; that they were still in negotiations with Immersion when the PS3 got released, which prevented rumble from occurring right away. The whole posturing business is just childish, if you ask me – saying that ‘rumble is not needed in this generation’ and blah blah blah.

No new announcements of a value bundle PS3 sitting in the wings didn’t quite sit well with me. Like it or not, the most expensive console typically doesn’t sell the most. I bought my PS3 for $700 CDN, and I know for a fact that there were lots of people balking at the price then. $600 is no different. Now, do I have any regrets with my purchase? No. I’m saying that if Sony wants to attract more than a niche market, they need to have a cheaper console in order to do that.

I have the feeling that this Christmas is all but lost for Sony because of all the delays – it seems that everything’s delayed until Spring. Meanwhile, Microsoft will manage to make inroads with their inferior hardware and cheaper price point because of Halo 3. That doesn’t sit well with me, because I firmly believe that the PS3 is the most well-designed console on the market today, but it doesn’t have the games that people want the most, at least at this point.

Very disappointing…

nothing to say. I’m very very disappointed!

• I just now heard about this excitment. I wonder if the center button piece glows like they show on T.V in dark situations

• One really positive thing taht came out of this though, is that the FFXIII compendium remains PS3 exclusive.

Also hopeing that Bumpy Trot 2 makes its way to western borders!

• Im curious to know how the battery will hold up on the Dual Shock 3? What if in a year the battery doesn’t hold a charge any longer?

• Will the dualshock 3 still have the bluetooth timeout problem?

• @sollus Like everything else in the world, you’ll be SOL and told to buy a new one.

• @115 i’m think thats one of the reasons it took so long…testing takes time

• @100 Heavenly Sword sucked, eh? That must be why it’s got an 80 on Metacritic and it’s one of the best games I’ve played all year.

• I love my ps3, and I didn’t care what the price was. But I just don’t want to see the ps3 turn into the dreamcast… I hate the fact that Halo 3 is launching soo big, perhaps something should be done to counter that? Like make a Huge deal out of Haze, you know to get people to go oh hey look at that! maybe i won’t buy that x-crock to play halo 3 on and maybe i’ll stick with playstation… I guess I’m just sick of hearing all the x-crock fans bashing us “faithful” playstation owners… come on sony defend us here… we back you…

• its been reported that wi continues to sell like hot cakes and thats great. i do not like a monoply..there is room enough for more than one….it just happens that i prefer ps3 AND EACH AND EVERY DAY IT GETS TO BE THE WISEST CHOICE I HAVE MADE….ITS BEEN said many times but i want to say it again….its a games machine that not only plays ps3 but also ps2 games….its a computer…its a blue ray player…you get my drift.

• orbio234: And if Sony doesn’t lower the price for the holidays the PS3 will start looking like a failure.
Sony management wants to sell Cell R&D to Toshiba instead of investing more money to make a better CPU… what will they use for the future PS4 then ? They will have to use either Intel, Sun or AMD CPUs if they won’t have R&D of their own… it’s a really bad move.
Then not lowering PS3 price for the holidays as rumors were suggesting it’s really trying to commit suicide for the group. If Sony managers really expect to have good profits waiting and waiting and waiting with delays after delays, well that is not going to happen.
Sony managers are allowing Bill Gates and Microsoft to do whatever he wants to in market like it never happened before. Microsoft is going to sell too much XBox360 for the holidays due to its lower price, Toshiba and Microsoft will sell many HD-DVD players as well because Sony is not pushing Blu-Ray hard enough to ensure sub-$299 players on the market for the holidays. A $399 PS3 would have helped for sure.

What is going on there at Sony, really ? How many managers got “gifts” from Microsoft like the Paramount CEO, I wonder.. ?!

• Can a Sony employee please confirm if the Dualshock 3 features the new rumble known as ‘TouchSense’ or not? Some press like 1UP and developers are saying it’s different than the Dualshock 2 rumble, and gives more localised feedback, for example getting shot on the left makes it rumble in that general direction. But your SCE corporate communication person Kimberly Otzman says “The rumble feature on the DualShock 3 is the same as DualShock 2.”, which is very disappointing if that’s true. After all, why settle a lawsuit and bring back something old if Immersion has developed a newer version of that technology?

If it’s a case of miscommunication (not surprising from you guys, no offence), then you need to sort this out quickly. The PS3 is knee-deep with bad news, and you can’t even report the good ones correctly.

So PLEASE, just tell us if the rumble is new or not.

Thanks.

• 1up said it had new rumble features because they played a game using it. That Sony rep was probably just some corporate suit who knows nothing.

• All this talk of rumble aside, I’m in the process of playing Bioshock, and I think Sony missed the boat with not getting this title. I will never buy a 360, but it’s just as good if not better on a PC. In my opinion, the PS3 hasn’t come close to getting a title like this in its library – a triple-A title that a lot of gamers would give their eyeteeth for. Heavenly Sword looks interesting, but I don’t think that title and Bioshock are even in the same league when it comes to interest.

For the record, I play Warhawk fairly regularly. It’s a very good game – just not in the same league as Bioshock, unfortunately…

• I am looking forward to Unreal Tournament 3, though…

• Still no response from Sony?

• Okay, I’ve sort of “calm down”‘ed about this. Blew it out of proportion, there was alot of great news at TGS for the PS3 so I cant complain actually.

I could see Sony get serious in the RPG competition if they got around snatching the license for Shadow Hearts. And get support from the original Team.

The game never got enough marketing but it was more noteworthy than FF for its innovative judgement ring system.

Its a shame Sony doesnt see it that way though.

• I think the dualshock 3 is only coming out later so sony has a chance to get rid of all the sixaxes

• I think your right. It makes perfect sense.

• Its also probably why there has been no official announcement.

•

• when will the hdtv tuner, be in the u.s.

• @Patrick

is there any reason for you guys to just call it the “dualschock 3”? because, if you ask me, i prefer for example the name “SixSchock” way more.. (sixaxis you know.. and dual = 2, six = well.. 6..)

ofcourse thats a matter of taste, but i’d like to know why you guys dont give it a new name, but go on on the old controller?

-Qbrain

• why buy a PS3 now when you know you’ll have to get new controllers in 5-6 months

• Cool stuff. Now all you need to do is release the PSP camera in the US.
