Secret Agent Clank Update
+ Posted by Frank Simon // Senior Producer, Secret Agent Clank
Hi all. My name is Frank Simon and I’m a senior producer on Secret Agent Clank. I wanted to provide you all with a quick update on the game since we recently introduced it.
Well, I’ve just returned to the states after my most recent trip to TGS and am suffering jet lag that always seems to accompany such trips. Hopefully, this entry will make some sense. As you may have read, we announced Secret Agent Clank, an original PSP title coming out next year from the development team at High Impact Games, at the media cocktail party during TGS. We are finally giving Clank his time in the spotlight!
One cool feature we showed off was Clank-fu, a full action move set for Clank as he takes on the ninjas, guardian robots and other nasties in his pursuit to free Ratchet - who is accused of a crime he didn’t commit. We also showed a new line of gadgets and devices and rhythm gameplay where Clank dodges and weaves through a laser field. One of my favorite sections so far is the boss fight with Jack where the player gets to play as Qwark. It’s about time that the big guy put his money where his mouth is. High Impact has done a great job of listening to the R&C fanbase and letting them play what they have always wanted to play. I’ve included a couple of shots from the stuff we showed for those who weren’t at the show (one above and below).
Look for more on Secret Agent Clank soon!

Sweet!
Is there going to be any connectivity between this and ToD?
And will there be any bonuses if you played SizeMatters and have a save on your mem stick?
Can’t wait…..

Thanks for the update Frank. I cant wait to play as Quark. Everyone at High Impact did such an incredible job bringing us R&C: Size Matters. And it looks like you are well on your way to outshining yourself.
Its Quarktastic!

Very nice. Rather to see something “fresh” like this, instead of “Size Matters 2″

I liked R&C for the PS2, but I wonder is insomniac stretching themselves too thin? Resistance, both PSP R&Cs and now a PS3 R&C. R&C for the PS3 was ok, but I don’t feel the instant greatness the PS2 entries have. I’m still hopeful for it, but don’t let the quality of your games drop just for the chase of the almighty dollar. It’s better to have solid franchise release then to lose your die hard fans due to a myriad of mediocre game. It makes more money in the presence but as fans lose loyalty companies lose too much in the long run.

The video from TGS looked great. I’ve greatly enjoyed all of the previous games in the series, and I’ll surely get this one as well.

Clank FTW!

RedHawk | September 28th, 2007 at 4:57 pm
@ Kinglink
Insomniac dosn’t make the PSP R&Cs High Impact Games does. Insomniac is in no way spreading the selves too thin. R&C for the PS3 was Okay? Have you played the game? I think not, It isn’t out yet. You may have played the Demo but that’s one level.

You guys realize that all of these positive comments will just make the team that much more excited, right?
You’ve been warned

ParthianArcher | September 28th, 2007 at 6:23 pm
I wonder if it will have inter-connectivity to the PS3 R&C.
You know, extra cheats or unlockables, that kind of stuff.

http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?cons1=Wii®1=All&cons2=PS3®2=All&cons3=X360®3=All&align=1
The PS3 has sold as much as the 360 in the same time frame with less games, a much higher price tag and in competition with both the 360 and Wii at the same time while the 360 had nothing to compete with and it still managed only to sell the same as the PS3.

@ Frank Simon that is a warning I could live with. So if all these positive posts get the team excited maybe just maybe we will see more Secret agent blog posts? Or maybe just maybe a demo in my mail box next week? Ok the last one was pushing it but one can dream.

Cool, another awsome ACTION/ADVENTURE original psp title. This + GOW,FF VII, MGS,KH BBS, and more is going to sell ALOT of psp’s. Ratchet and clank are a great series, and hopefully it doesnt die out like jak and daxter.

MrDaBucket | September 28th, 2007 at 9:12 pm
Thanks Frank!
Take your time with this game and do your best to make Clank’s first solo job “one to remember”.
I just bought Size Matters for PSP yesterday night and have been playing through it. I think so far, you’ve done a great job bringing such a [DELETED] good franchise over to the PSP( and you guys at High Impact made it looks sooo good too!).
So while I’m finishing up your first R&C PSP game, I hope you guys do well with this next one.
Can’t wait to see it.
Sincerely, Stephen AKA MrDaBucket AKA MDB

I hope that this game, unlike others for the PS3, isn’t excessively priced for we Canadian Sony players.
On that note Sony guys, when can we expect to see the prices on Sony hardware here in the Great White North come down to reflect the parity of the Canadian and American dollars? Right now, for instance, we’re paying 50% more for the Sixaxis controller. Do you have stock in eBay or something?

I_Love_New_York | September 29th, 2007 at 7:11 pm
I might have to buy a new Slim PSP now with this game and Size Matters, God of War CoO and Crisis Core

Gunwing | September 30th, 2007 at 9:38 am
Yeah the PSP is finaly getting some good games and tons are getting announced the more time goes on. This is in part to the fact that the PSP is now out selling the DS/DS Lite and all other consoles/hadnhelds in Japan as of this week.
Now all we need is for Sony to release some more full length movies on UMD as I hear that those are also selling alot better now too!

I just wanted to say (again) that I love the new PSP. It loads so much faster and is crazy lite. As I have handed to people this week no one thinks its real because of the weight untill they turn it on and still there is some disbelief.
Great job on this hardware design.
Thank you
The video out is also great.

looks awesome I’ll definitely get this, the story seems a bit to close to Daxter though…

just 1 question will EUROPE be getting this R&C demo at the same time as America?

I am happy to see High Impact giving Clank some moves! His combos seem smooth for the most part. And I am very glad he moves much faster than in Size Matters or any other R&C game for that matter.
As for quark, using him will be awesome, not sure if it is announced, but hopefully you can upgrade his blaster
Even though clank has some new weapons, and Tools gives Clank some new powers. Compatible, eh?
Well, either way, I will definitely be picking up this game. Here’s to hoping for a clank/quark team up! (well for this game)
