[...] Greg Phillips | September 27th, 2007 at 1:04 pm Heya Solace, -No save carry over this time out. We didn’t want a feature that forced players to have the PS2 memory card converter (not sure what the name is) to obtain. That said, there may be something that crosses to another game in the RC universe. As for which one, well… It’s a secret -60fps and 720p is the preferred hi-res resolution. However, we do support 1080i so everyone with a HDTV can enjoy RCF:ToD in all it’s hi-def glory. PlayStation.Blog » Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction Goes Gold, Demo Coming!
I just finished the demo but have one issue with this otherwise amazing game. I noticed the screen, on the top and bottom, had small black bars, like a letterbox format. Now i never had this problem with any other game and i can only hope that this is just a demo issue because RFOM didnt have this, and neither did any game on my PS3 or 360 library. I have a Westinghouse 32" SKU series TV and its just amazing (some of the best colours ive seen on an LCD). I know my TV IS NOT THE PROBLEM. My PS3 is set to 1080i (but changes to 720P automatically for games that dont support true 1080 and is running on HDMI 1.3 cables.

I tried all the setting on my PS3 and nothing fixes this issue. Once again this is the only game that does this on my TV.

@Greg Phillips i wait to buy the Japanese version of R&CF since the releases are only about 12 days apart. will the games language change to the systems language(my rfom and rr7 both display and play in english even though they are Japanese versions of the game’s)? I live in japan and i was wondering if i need to import it or not.
no answer?

@HappySpaceInvdr actually that's not true, it depends on how they draw the picture internally. A 1080i picture draws one field every 60th of a second on a 1080i interlaced TV, just like 720p@60fps, except that each field is only one half the full resolution, interlaced with the next field. The effect is to see 1080 lines of resolution at 60fps just not as high quality as 1080p at 60fps.

On a non-interlaced TV this isn't true, because the internal chips may recompose the image and draw a 1080p picture at 30fps instead but 1080i pictures are for 1080i TVs, to be fair, which mine happens to be.

"-60fps and 720p is the preferred hi-res resolution. However, we do support 1080i so everyone with a HDTV can enjoy RCF:ToD in all it’s hi-def glory."

Err, yes... except that in 1080i, you won't get the full benefit of that lovely framerate. An interlaced picture takes twice as long (as progressive scan) to draw a full frame so, at 1080i, the resulting picture will look more like 30fps.

@WebScud

Frame tearing is a side-effect of disabling V-Sync, which in turn is necessary to get the high frame rate this game runs at.
