coolasj19: wouldn’t be surprised to see the ps2 prices go down a lot really soon… xmas is coming up and the price of this bundle is lower than the price of other bundles… an old ps2 refurb goes for 79 on gamespot right now and i’d guess that you could get one for much cheaper on craigslist or ebay. I’m surprised ps2 isn’t EOS yet. I’d say 6 months to a year more and it should be… 2008 and 2009 will be when the ps3 starts to pick up more and ps2 will be a bargain but without anything new… how long was ps2 out while ps was still selling? meh. — off to apply for sony jobs so i can know what’s going on rather than just guess. heh. :P

on second thought.. is the original playstation even end of life? hmm. anyway… the history of the playstation line is quite interesting - especially some of the issues with n64… If you take that to today and assess that even though the xbox360 has a lot of sales right now — the ps2 is still doing VERY VERY well and that the “dvd” of the 360 could very soon be seen by developers as lacking the storage space needed to really have compelling titles… anyway…

oh happy bday ps2.. — and to add to what i was getting at… from gamasutra - A spokesperson for Sony commented that the PS2’s 7-year run is “a true testament to SCEA’s design and technology strategy to develop its platforms to perform over a 10-year lifecycle.” makes sense to me.

At least one of Sony’s consoles is making them money. Imagine how huge the gaming division losses would be right now were it not for the PS2! PS3 is losing money like theres no tomorrow!

The PS2 actually has like 160 games coming by March of 08. That is crazy. And I read that the library of games is like 1600 or something like that. I still have a whole bunch of PS2 games to play. Devs don’t wanna stop making games for it because the instal base is HUGE. I wouldn’t be suprised if new games were still coming out for it by it’s 9th and 10th year. They shoulda dropped it to $99.99 this x-mas. It woulda sold as much as the 360 hehe. I guess they’re thinking it still has enough push to sell without the drop, probably by next year’s holiday season.

If this is true, why did Sony pull PS2 emulation from the low end PS3’s?

@2 a god of war pack would be amazing, that would sell so well, i really like how sony is still supporting the ps2 even when its competition (xbox and gcube) are dead. The ps3 is an amazing system and its crazy how well its still selling, evan after its 7th bday.

that ceramic white ps2 does look sweet. just like the white ps3 JAPAN is getting on the 11th November!! WITH a dualsock3 controller. where are ours hey?? WHERE! we have to wait until spring 2008 for a dualshock3 even though Prologue AND Motorstorm both now support it.

The Ps2 is what killing the Ps3. We need more Ps3 games less Ps2 support.
