Hey everyone. We know you like to hear about updates a few days in advance, so here’s a quick heads up that we have a new System Software update in the works.
Firmware v2.01 is a minor update that will improve the stability of PLAYSTATION 3.
We’ll provide more specifics as the update is about to go live, but we thought we’d give loyal blog readers advance notice!
Please fix REMOTE START so that it actually works in a way that lets us turn off the PS3 (and have it stay off) and then I can start it remotely from anywhere with a wi-fi connection.
CURRENTLY IT DOES NOT DO THIS!!!!!

Fix the upscaler you took away from us, Sony. Why’d you do that in the 1st place? Upscaled games look just like they use to now… That’s real nice of you. I guess the next thing you’re going to do to shaft us early adopters is take it out completely “to be fair to all ps3 owners” You smacks!
Maybe I’ll be able to use remote play without having to have my tv on. (seems I need my HDMI active in order to watch video in remote play)
There’s not going to be anything big, it’s 2.01 not 2.10.

I don;t know if you know about this bug or not but I have seen the following:
1) Start a Remote Connection from your PSP (while the PS3 is in standby mode).
2) Try to watch a video. It halts the connection. Something seems to be happening but even waiting for 30 minutes it doesn’t work.
Now if you do the following it works:
1) Turn on your PS3 and enable remote connection.
2) Connect with your PSP. At this pointit works flawless.
Hopefully you already knew abot this and this new patch will fix it.
Yes, Blu-ray 1.1. It’s the first update to the Blu-ray spec. All players will need to meet it. I think it gives Blu-ray a picture-in-picture feature or something.
I hope this fixes the issues with remote play. Sometimes I can turn the ps3 on, sometimes I can’t. Sometimes it gets the signal 30 minutes later and randomly turns on then attempts to turn itself on 3-4 more times. Video plays if you turn the ps3 on, set it to remote play, then access it from the psp but if you turn the ps3 on with the psp, I tend to have about a 85-90% fail rate when I try to play a video. The screen turns black and then it all just hangs – forever.
Don’t get this post wrong, I am VERY stoked with the things you all are doing, I just want it to work. Keep up the great work Sony!!
fix the timed out glitch!!!!! If you dont know what Im talking about go to the PSN forums (theres alot of people getting this problem)
please fix the instability, I just purchased uncharted and it freezes all the time. My other games play i.e. R & C, but uncharted just freezes when its in a cut scene, I can’t get off the boat level the opening level.

Hoping this includes a fix to the broken PS1/PS2 Upscaling. It currently looks terrible, especially with 480i/1080i output. v1.93 did not have this problem. Thanks for the quick updates otherwise.

I’m on my 3rd uncharted disc and all of them are freezing in one place or another mostly cutscenes. My other PS3 games play very well, i’ve disable the info board and media center and it still unstable.
I would like to be able to remote into my PS3 While It’s already logged in, say in Folding@Home or after you’ve been streaming a movie and lost the connection. It’s like it’s a one shot deal.

Whole East Europe use VPN Internet connection. Without vpn support in PS3 we can’t use PSN or PS Store. Please, Eric Lempel help us.

We all know this is a minor update just to fix the most recent problem some user are having with the latest update(2.0) We are really missing out on the online gaming experience when we have to exit a game just to read a text message from a friend or even chat with them. This is an issue that needs to be corrected asap. All i really want to say is that we really need that IN-GAME XMB!!!!!!
Dont expect in-game XMB or DivX support or anything like that. This is 2.01 which like he said it only minor. So probably fixes to the XMB lag and the problems people have been experiencing. Maybe one tiny new thing chucked in but nothing amazing or of real beneficial.

Fix third-party PS3 controller support in PS2 mode. That would make the PS3 more “stable” in my opinion.
Using a 60GB PS3, in PS2 mode, a Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 (HRAP3) will not function correctly. The system will send random controller inputs to the game at random intervals, usually “up” on the joystick but also various button presses (including the PS Button). This makes playing PS2 games with a PS3 joystick impossible. Since these joysticks work flawlessly on PS3 games and PC games, I have to imagine it’s an incompatibility issue, and the fault lies with the system software (the PS3) rather than the hardware (the joystick).
It would be great if Sony would improve support for large lists of media both on the PS3’s hard drive and on an external drive. The PS3 has supercomputer status, yet has trouble keeping up scrolling through my music. Maybe if it would keep a library cache to speed things up?
Also, it would be great if you could use the same sorting options you get pressing square when browsing media on the PS3’s HDD when you’re browsing an external drive.
Finally, when browsing music on an external USB drive, the music is in alphabetical order by tag title. I don’t know whether the PS3 sorts music by filename or tag’s track number for files on its hard drive, but it doesn’t do this on external media. This is the only reason why I copied all my music to the PS3’s harddrive instead of keeping it all on my external drive, which was my initial plan.

What? I dont understand what would you need VPN support in the PS3.
Do you need the PS3 to connect to your home connection which is inside a VPN?
If the whole east europe has vpn on each house and each server that is weird and unnecesary I guess.
After I did 2.0 system update, my ps3 stoped recognizing any disc i put in the system. I am hoping the update solves it.

Guys…this is a minor release..actually it is to fix the errors that we are all having because of 2.00
(I have the big lag when the infobar is running and the hard reset from remote play..I have had any other issue)
I expect DivX not before the 2.05 or 2.10 release.
Although I could be wrong since is funny how the videos are recognized but the are not playable. Seems like someone put the code to support the files but the codec is not in the folder…hehe

I know that this probably won’t include any fix for the upscaling problem for those of us with TVs that will do 1080i but not 720p. However, could you give us some kind of indication if Sony is working on a resolution to this problem. We have been waiting for nearly a year now without word on if this will be corrected.

Even though I have not had any problems with the 2.00 update, I know others have been and I appreciate you guys fixing this so fast. (And I love the theme editor. I made a Calvin and Hobbes theme. :-D )
Anyhoo, if you guys would update the browser for the latest flash version, I’d appreciate it becuse I can’t even view the videos on this blog on my PS3. (At least Youtube works)
Also, another idea for the browser that I think would be really easy to implement: Variable mouse speeds when using the Sixaxis controller. It seems to take forever to navigate the mouse to objects an a webpage that is like 30 inches wide, so I’d really appreciate it if you gys would let us control the mouse speed.

What’s wrong with the PS1/PS2 upscaler? I frequently play Burnout 3 on my PS3, (love the takedown cam….) but I haven’t noticed any difference in the upscaler since 2.00. (I have a 32in. 1080i LCD) And just so you know, this is not an attack on you, I just wondered what’s going on with it because a few people have mentioned that.

Any change some of this will fix the pauseing issues when the PSN info bar is on? I like haveing it on, but it makes useing the XMB realy a pain in the butt as it keeps pauseing IE you move it and it turns off for some reason makeing it have to log in about every 10 or so seconds.

Hopefully this will fix some of the problems caused by 2.00. I’m tired of my PS3 freezing all the time, plus I can’t even download anything in the background now. It was working perfectly fine before the update too :( But I am glad we got one, love the new stuff you can do with it, I just wished it didn’t have all the bugs with it.
