Hi everyone. As you may have heard, we’re introducing a great solution to get longer battery life from your PSP. The new PSP Extended Life Battery Kit includes a 2200 mAh battery pack that can double the battery life of the new PSP model (PSP 2000). Because the extended-life battery is slightly thicker than the one that comes with the new PSP, we’ve included two custom covers in “Piano Black” and “Ice Silver.” Those of you with the original PSP (PSP 1000) may recall that we offered an extended life battery pack (the stamina battery) previously, and this battery remains compatible with that system as well.
The new battery kit will be available at retailers for $44.99 (MSRP) in mid-December – just in time to get you through your holiday travels and any long delays at the airports…

Woo woo! Here comes the comment spam train rolling into the station. Wow, this post got hit hard didn’t it? I’m glad Jeff isn’t deleting posts, that always throws off the post count so if you tell #4 what you think…it may not be #4 later.

I already have the 2200 mAh battery for my old PSP. Will we be able to order just the old battery door from Sony?
(I don’t know if this has already been asked, but there are too many spammed comments to read all of them…)

When are the official Sony PSP 2000 cases coming out to retail? I’d like to see a hard case to protect my PSP 2000 while traveling.

Nice :) I would like these to be a little cheaper though.
I bought 4 regular batteries for my older “PSP 1000″ awhile ago at a Best Buy price error for 9.99 each. I get plenty of hours out of them so even though i need to carry more I am happy :)

In the future, if tech is available for it, could this same battery get smaller over time?
Do you know how much longer it will take to fully charge the new battery?
I love the idea for it—it’s a great way to add more play time to the PSP, among many other things. Great job! (Please reply to my post!)

where’s the white one?! Isn’t that the one that’s most asked for because of the Darth Vader silkscreen?

So now all those STAR WARS PSP owners, like me, have to decide to do without the longer battery life or giveup the Vader…
Isn’t that why most of us bought the White PSP?
Oops….guess someone forgot about the Vader..

I thought the psp-1000 battery was supposed to double if used in the psp-2000.
Is this not the case?

Good news, but I dont exactly want a mismatched PSP. Any hope for a white one? I dont really care if vader’s on it, but I don’t want mine to look like a cheap car.

I’d really like to see a white one (or a new Darth Vader one?). Even if you had to special order it or something. Why should those of us who bought the white one get screwed? Would it kill Sony to make a white one available too?

I want to know if there is plans for a cover without the battery. I bought a more powerful battery for my old PSP and now that I have the newer version PSP I would like to use my old battery and not have to buy another one. Plus please bring out a white one too. I bought the white one and would like to have a cover for that version.
