“PSN updates are seldom mind blowing”

If PSN updates are seldom mind blowing, why does everyone make such a big deal out of each and every one of them.
See, this is my point about lack of realistic perspective that many on here seem to lack – how is it even realistically possible for them to give everyone every thing week-after-week?
Besides, releasing everything “whenever” rather than on Thursdays wouldn’t stop people complaining – it’d just open it up for them to complain 7 days a week instead of 1.

Thank God my Rock Band downloads are almost done so I’ll stop frustrating myself with the whinery this place turns in to every Thursday. Don’t worry – I’ll call the “whaaaa-mbulance” for you on my way out…

I don’t think I’ll ever buy games like GH and RB. I don’t see myself paying $169 RB or $100 GH and every other week I have to spend and extra $20 buying music.
.99c a song for RB is not bad but $2.49 per track with GH. These companies must think we are crazy.
Maybe they should give the actual game out for free and just charge for the music. By the peripherals separately.

Any chance the Freezepop and Bang Camaro songs that were just announced to be released on an OXM disc this month for Rock Band will ever find their way to the PS3?

+ Solace on January 3rd, 2008 at 5:47 pm said:

@105
Yeah, I read the comments.
Why are people expecting the heavens to open and Jesus to personally deliver an advanced demo for Killzone 2 or MGS4 wrapped in bacon every single week?
People are disappointed because they are expecting the unreasonable. Like I said before – if the Star Wars prequels or Matrix sequels taught us anything, it’s that unrealistically high expectations only end in disappointment.

How about you? Have you read the comments? Have you read my comments? Read them. Then get back to me. Why don’t you write to Sony a detailed way for them to make everyone happy, in EXACT details. If you can’t because you DON’T know how the video game business runs like most of us, then STFU since you’re just whining without offering up a solution.
Seriously, folks – get some perspective.
Thank God my Rock Band songs just downloaded. I’m done with the nursery some of you have made this place.

You stuck with your 360 during the holidays? These holidays? The one no one could get online? Yes this update sucked for those without RockBand, GuitarHero or cash for that matter but I don’t see you around when there are any good updates. Just another one of those guys that spends their entire day trying to convince gamers into buying a brick. And no I don’t own a 360, I’ve owned 4 in total, the one I got for last christmas (from family wihout asking for it) and the 3 replacements I got from MS, one RROD after another, without even using the thing constantly, I played Halo 2.5 and thats what it was, I played Gears (The third person Unreal Tournament knockoff) and Mass Effect (More fiction than Science) the only thing good about the game are the faces. After my fourth brick I gave it to my nephew for christmas and told my brother to send it in with luck he might have something to play with. Good thing is I convinced my brither into buying a PS3 for his son and him on summer (His birthday) So woohoo!

Great week for Rock Band—I know we didn’t get our content last week, but getting 8 new songs is pretty sweet, regardless of what they are.

As for everything else, the week is a bit sparse. I just hope that the next coming weeks will have more content, like we were seeing before the break.

Still, good job, Sony!

Why is it half of the people on this blog do nothing but complain? You get all this for no monthly fees, and you expect it to be as big as XBL? I mean that gets one new thing per update thats it! We mean while get like 12-25 things per update. They only got as much as they got now because they have been up for so long. MS has had ample time to make XBL a great online expearince.

Sony on the other hand has never had a online set up like this before. You all need to stop whineing and be happy. BTW Non of the content here for Need for Speed is even in the game. So don’t get mad at EA for it.

Great update! I love all the DL content we get! Now get some of the PSP game addon content up there for us to DL of the PC Store! I wan’t full acsess to the Wipeout: Pure, and the Burnout Dominator content, as well as Monster Hunter1/2, and Killzone: Liberation content that was added.

I believe that i said i own a ps3 as well. yeah, i already had the 3rrod twice, and yeah that is something that sucks, but well worth the wait. Hell, i didnt even turn on my ps3 when i was waiting because the online play sucks so bad. So, when it comes to game play on a system, i think i would rather get my demos and dlc a week before you. next time you wanna know how the new demos or dlc are, feel free to ask me or your brother how much fun they are untill you get yours 7 days later. Good luck playing campaign all the time, and not talking to friends during gameplay, because i think your almost all alone when it comes to loyal ps3 fans. Ever wonder why developers are straying away from scea only games? I bet you cant answer that truthfully!

I don’t like complaining but this was seriously a terrible update!!!

I’ve been waiting for the Super Stardust HD update for about 3 weeks now. Why don’t we (North America) have it yet? I e-mailed Housemarque about this a few weeks ago and they said it’s been done and they are just waiting for you (Sony) to put it up on the Store. Europe already has it. But why not us? I want to play this game with my imported DualShock 3!

Here is the e-mail reply from Housemarque (SSHD developer):

“Hi,
All I know that work on our side is finished and it’s up to Sony to
release it. For some reason we don’t know, the update wasn’t released
yesterday. Actually, the update hasn’t been officially released at all
not even in the UK, I think. It just has been possible to update it by
deleting the older version and downloading a new one here in Europe.

Thanks for the your interest in the first SSHD update. Look out for more
DLC packages in the future!

Cheers”

Again, I wrote this e-mail a few weeks ago when the update popped up in the European PS Store. I received an e-mail that same day.

Please let us know when we’ll get the update for that beautiful game, Super Stardust HD. I’ve been waiting several weeks just to play it! By the way, I haven’t purchased the game yet. As soon as the update is released, I will buy it. I fell in love with this game when one of my friends shared it with me. I no longer have access to the shared games but SSHD is a must buy.

I don’t expect anything for free. PSN is useless to me other than buying games. It is useless for Sony to provide a free service—and the truth is we pay for it in some fashion. All I ask is Intelligent Qube to be released on the PSN for PS3 play (PSP play doesn’t really matter for me). Sony has to only bother themselves to release it; it is their game. They released it in Japan last week. I paid quite a bit for this glorified blu-ray player that streams media from my PC and occasionally provides me demos to save me from wasting money on retail games; admittedly, I’d like to use it to play games. I look forward to Burnout Paradise for it might be the first retail game I buy for the PS3 since I bought it last February. All I ask from Sony is a digital release of a PSOne game that is ridiculously expensive on the used market and, if I were to puchase it overpriced on eBay or half.com, will not financially help Sony one bit. So, why not mind your business about complaining against those that voice their opinion? Silencing dissent profits no one. It’s bad enough all these Europeans have to post here, but to add to the comment count by telling others to shut up (ironically one of whom is European) doesn’t accomplish anything. At least here, unlike LiveJournals or MySpaces or to their pets, people’s frustrations are vented to where it might eventually matter.

some of you need to escape from the negative….any company that has been as successful as sony knows what they are doing. sure they can throw all kinds of things on the psn store but what do you want quality or quantity….there is at the present moment plenty of games on retail and at the psn store to keep us enjoying the ps3 gaming….relax good stuff is here now and there be will be more than enough to satisfy our limited budget,,,,,tonights menu for me…a game of texas hold em…everyday shooter…call of duty 4…wow this ps3 gamer has a satisfied mind…goodnight and good gamin3g

Hey Sony,
Hope you guys had a great vacation, thank you for the update. I happen to agree with Solace in that people have to realize this is a free service, any kind of free stuff is great. I also see people squawking about how this update is oh so terrible. Well, I don’t know about you guys, but I remember back around in June that all we got for an update was a trailer for Nancy Drew. This update is way beyond that.
And to post #56 who copied and pasted a blog from 1up. Please…. Garnet Lee is a fanboy for the other system. If you ever listen to one of the 1up Yours podcasts you can pretty much figure it out. It was really sad to hear Garnet talking and not understanding the concept of Home on the December 21 podcast because he’s so pro about paying a gold membership for the other guys. Heck, I thought Shane was going to sucker punch him. Anyhow, nothing rant. Keep up the good work Sony.

You guys really need to get on the ball with the PS1 games. Why should Japan get so many? And we get mere leftovers. The only decent one you have given us is Castlevania; Symphony of the Night.

I typically don’t leave comments but I felt compelled to post a suggestion.

Is it possible to release PSP games for download on the PS3? I’d love to play Crisis Core (Yes, I am fully aware that this is SE’s IP, I’m just using this as a personal example), but I don’t have a PSP. I would, however, pay to download the game to play on PS3. There are PS1 games playable on PSP/PS3, so is it feasible to do PSP games to download and play on PSP/PS3?

Why is everybody whining about no content? Employees need a break sometime. One week is not bad at all. If they took their vacation any other time you wouldn’t care. But they want to spend time with their families during the holiday and you berate them. Were you doing anything different? How productive were you? I bet you just sat home and watched football, and maybe did some last minute shopping. I want to see you having spent your time creating stuff that people download on a free service and then have the nerve to complain about it.
