Folklore Add-on #3
“The Alchemist Pack”
In this pack, Ellen heads for Undersea City in search of her mother, while other quests will find you collecting stones for a mysterious alchemy experiment and clearing away the Folks who are blocking the Elevator in Hell Realm.
Discover Scarab, a new Folk that will make sure you get the “point”, as well as a special Faery-inspired costume for Ellen.

“The Origin of Belgae”
The doorway to the Netherworld remains open… enjoy four more trips into the unknown set during the original adventure.
The pack challenges you to undertake the ‘rites of the ancient messenger’, discover what’s responsible for making a terrible noise and use a photo of a faery to solve a mystery…
Ellen will be gifted with the “Cloak of the Deep” and collect an additional Folk called Radian, that spins to hit enemies multiple times with outreached arms.

I didn’t buy folklore, but I have to say these developers are kicking some serious ass with the add ons. Wipeout Pure was the best game ever for additional content. Back then stuff was free though…

You guys are blowing my mind with these packs. This is how DLC needs to be done. A bit too pricey in my opinion, but still good to see the games getting supported after release.
I haven’t tried any of my new add-ons yet. Once you acquire the new folk, can you use them in other areas of the game that aren’t associated with the add-on? For instance, could I use a new fairy type folk I downloaded in the campaign of the game as long as I am in the fairy realm?

@#5: You can use the new folks anywhere in the game. I don’t think you can put them as enemies in user-made dungeons, though (but I haven’t tried).
The amount of extra support and D-loadable content for this game is so overwhelming it’s actually sickning. Why didn’t I get this game!!
The critics really dropped the ball when reviewing this masterpiece. I just finished the game and all I can say is, “Wow!” A truly great piece of software. Love all the new add-ons. Thanks!

In europe we have this stuff for ages. It’s even cheaper. Just 1.99 € per episode. I can recommend them all. We have 5 add-ons atm afaik. I’m wondering if there’s even more to come.

I actually just recently finished Folklore- good game, though I didn’t get even close to the all of Ellen’s costumes.
And to #19, I’m glad to hear Europe is getting its fair share content, though it’d be nice to hear it more often than the complaining that there’s nothing and how unfair it is.
Eric Fong, I really want to know when the PSN cards are coming out. I don’t really like using my credit card and want to purchase any Folklore pack without them disappearing from the PSN Store anytime soon.
What did they say about the Folklore soundtrack I asked around the Christmas season?
Eric, Being an entertainment design/illustration major, I also wouldn’t mind the release of an official Folklore art book.

Great to see that we’ll be getting the new add-on packs. I noticed that Ellen gets another cloak of the deep, this one is just to wear running around Doolin, correct? Because she has one when going around the realms if you managed to find it in the Undersea City.

@#9: We actually got a lot of really good press and relatively high review scores. We’ve even made it as some reviewer’s game of the year – I really can’t complain.

I have to check this game out. I’ve heard lots of good things about, but for some reason I keep forgetting about it. Maybe I’ll get my friend to download the demo or give it a rent.
Seems to be a lot of games getting Dload content lately. Should be an even bigger feature this gen with the inclusion of bigger hard drives.

New content is always awsome, but where are the sexy costumes for Keats? So far Ellen’s gotten all the nice stuff while he just looks kinda goofy.

Wow! I am impressed with the amount of New Folklore stuff that keeps coming out. This is really kickass! I really do commend you for all of your team’s extra work.
It’s good that we’re getting all of these things; I’m currently at Chapter 3 with each character and I’m enjoying every moment of it.
Just one question though…is there a way in which I can get the update to the game? Whenever I try to update, I’m able to get a small amount and then the download stops, making me lose my Internet connection for about 3 – 5 minutes. I know that it’s not an issue with my connection; I’m able to play sessions of UT3 or Resistance: Fall of Man just fine. Thanks for taking the time to read my question. Hopefully, there’s a solution out there.

@#35: Are you having problems updating your system software or updating the game? Haven’t heard of either case, but I just want to be clear before I start looking for possible answers.
Any chance we will be getting the special famitsu folk downloads that are available on the Japanese store? They were user submitted entries from some contest they ran to get your folks put in the game. They look pretty cool, and it’d be neat if the content somehow made it to the US store as well.
Oh, and I’ve heard that there is some type of Folklore game being made for the PSP by the same developers, and it’ll have connectivity with Folklore. Is there any truth to this? If so, that’s awesome! And for the artbook that I desperately want, I think they should produce one more copy, and put it up for bids. Lord knows how much I will be willing to shell for a tangible copy :-D.
Oh and, I agree with (#9 mcpeepants80) and most do. In a gamefaqs forum topic about “The most overrated/underrated game of 2007”, majority of the posters said that Folklore was the most underrated game of 2007, with Halo 3 being the most overrated. Could be fanboy bias against Halo, but I agree, myself having both systems and playing both games. But lol, I’m all over this blog tonight.

Eric, we’d love to see parts of the book on the blog. However, gamers would love to be able to get their hands on these art books and not just the press. I saw some amazing press kits for Heavenly Sword and Uncharted. I just wish gamers would get equal treatment as well as the press. We are the ones who pay for the games after all.
I also have a question about the packs. It seems that I’m missing the Faery cloak for Ellen from the Alchemist Pack. I have the Cloak of the Deep. Do I unlock the new cloak by playing the new downloadble quests for Ellen?

@#48: I bought Folklore when I was in Asia, and it seems that the add-on packs on the European store are not compatible with the Asian English version of the game. Check that your game and store are from the same region.
@Eric: Is there a way to get these add-on packs to work for another region? And why are they region locked in the first place? Hope you can answer, can’t wait to experience even more of Folklore…
@arnzz: thanks for the tip however yes I bought the game in Italy and the add-on from the European store.
I installed and can actually see the quests but they are not selectable… I though I need the previous packs to play this one but there were no requirements mentioned in the store so… no clues.
