If GT HD is any indication (and it is) of what to expect in in GT5 Prologue, $40 is a steal. HD is awesome considering you can't race. Oh yeah, HD is a very expensive DEMO. Let's see, it is priced at the extremely high price of $0.00!!! Sony has a great free DEMO, as you would expect, and now a great game in Prologue. The real question might be that after prologue is available, will anyone really care if GT5 ever gets released.
Logitech just announced a new wheel for GT5 that is scheduled to launch the same time as Prologue. Racing just keeps getting better and better. Thanks Sony!!

Sony continues to produce the best racing games on the market, slow, but excellent product when they are released. The combination of PS3 and GT5 will be the lowest cost, most realistic racing available. Have you looked at the price of a PC needed to play a great on-line game like LFS?

If you announce that people who buy the prologue will receive a $10 off coupon for the full version, you will sell much more copies, and you will potentially sell more copies of the final game.

It will be more than a couple months, and if you're concerned about retail value and $40 go find yourself a decent paying job or start enjoying a different "game". Gran Turismo isn't a game - it's a racing simulator.

Me neither, no way am I paying $40 for a demo. I don't care how you rationalize it. I'll wait. What makes it an even worse deal is the fact that when the real game comes out, re-selling the demo is going to be impossible. So it's $40 down the drain for a game you will only play for a couple months. Pee on that.

G'day Scott,
I have two questions regarding the western release of GT:P

1. Will Westerners get the same GT:TV content as Japan (i.e. Best MOTORing videos)?

2. I have heard that the western release is getting more content (i.e. cars, tracks) than the Japanese/Asian release? Can you please confirm Scott.

Cheers

I've been playing the HD Concept demo for the past 3 weeks, everyday for 2-3 hours. I would have paid $40 for JUST this one track, and even for JUST the R32 Skyline (which doesn't look like it will be in the Prologue, hopefully will make it to GT5). If I could pickup the Prologue (in english) today, I'd pay $100 for it. Heck, I'd pay $250 too have GT5 in my hands right now. The point I'm trying to make here is this is more than just any ordinary game, and more than just a "demo". Games like Counter Strike, Halo, Super Mario 64, World of Warcraft (which I've never played), have so much time and thought invested in them, which separates them from the rest. I bought a PS3 for the sole reason of playing Gran Turismo, and while $40 may be higher than some people were expecting to pay, I'll gladly hand my cash over. If I think about it on an hourly basis, I'll get more than my moneys worth. Even If I worked at Mc Donalds making $7/hour, the cost of the game would be worth my time flipping burgers. I bought Need for Speed Pro Street when I picked up my PS3, and played it for about 10 minutes, and haven't since, and won't ever again - I'd rather play the HD Concept demo.

It would be cool if sony bundled a beta for LittleBigPlanet or Killzone 2 in this game. Kinda like how Crackdown did it. I would totally buy the game if that happened!

Having played the Japanese demo, this game plays very well and is a great racing experience and looks incredible on my 1080i CRT.

I have to say though, I'd love to see how many people do shell out $40 for an incomplete racing game. If a lot do, you're just going to see more of this in the future. I'm holding out for a full version of Gran Turismo with at least as much content and variety as GT4.

For now I've got the two demos and Dirt to keep me happy.
