@B1ack_Mage That may be true about the Square part of Square Enix, but Enix has at least one game on Wii VC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ActRaiser and while I’m not a fan it gives at least a small amount of hope to see some releases elsewhere.
I think part of the problem with the ports is that, if you watched the emulation scene at all, you’d know that some of the various Square FF and generationally related titles were some of the most difficult to get working. Perhaps that same difficulty transfers to this new PS3/PSP emulation that’s going on. Perhaps we’ll see them “in time.” Afterall, it’s only been a little over a year since the US release of the PS3. With quality testing and changes required, it is possible it just takes a long time to get a game working reliably on PS3/PSP from PS1.
Furthermore, it’s obvious Square knows they ahve legions of fanboys ready and willing to pay over and over again for FF7, regardless of how low quality the offering may be (See: Advent Children). I think they’ll be releasing new FF7 content for a while, and eventually need to rerelease FF7 itself in some form. Imagine relatively new gamers playing Crisis Core and not being able to find or play FF7? That’s just insanity!

The lost planet demo is messed up I keep getting room is full when I try to join a game.

Tritoch | February 7th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
@B1ack_Mage - What cybereal said, except that one B list title hardly fills me with confidence that they see digital distribution as a money-maker. Nothing against ActRaiser, but it’s hardly Chrono Trigger.
I want to see more timely PSN updates to coincide with retail releases. For example, why wasn’t the original Silent Hill released on the PSN at the same time that its prequel, Silent Hill: Origins, was released for the PSP late last year? A perfect opportunity for Konami to cash in wasted…
57
btutterrow | February 7th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Good update guys
I bought Crash 3 and got a ton of videos and demos for my PSP. I agree with the suggestion to better optimize the videos. It is kind of silly to have a low resolution video I downloaded from Sony!

CurryUdon | February 7th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
Can we please get more than 1 PS1 classic every 2 weeks? There should be no reason why cannot get half a dozen every week like Japan does. Come on guys, a bunch of us harp (i.e. whine and complain) about this week after week.
59
Bender Rodriguez | February 7th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
I do agree with Foxx. Demo’s should be required for all original PSN games. We aren’t taking a big gamble, but it’s a gamble nonetheless. Another thing is that it’s a complete loss of money if we don’t like it, because we can’t trade the PSN games off to any store like Gamestop.
60
sascha23 | February 7th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
@ Lowe0: Because the PSN updates are EVERY Thursday my friend.
Seriously, if the fact that the 360 got something on its network 48 hours earlier is bugging you…well, I don’t know what to tell you.
61
stennex | February 7th, 2008 at 5:28 pm
Is anyone having trouble playing the Lost Planet online only demo. I think it is retarded of Capcom to have giving us an only an online demo version of the game. Now i have to wait and hope to get connected to a match.
62
Hedrakk | February 7th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
An OK update. I’m still wating for something else, but I won’t complain, I’ve made a promess to a certain Daver
About Canadian pricing… I think there is no hope on getting “fair” pricing. Because Sony inflated Canadian Price at the begining of the PS3 because they had the excuse that back then, the Canadian Dollar was way lower than now and they had to compensate for that. Now Canadian money is about the same as US, they’re all too happy to charge us more because it means way more in their pockets.
And for Go sport stuff… you know the saying : Once bitten, twice shy! I bought Go sport ski when it came out… I can tell you that I created a special game folder for that game: Game that should have never become reallity
So I’m not in a big hurry to get an other Go sport title and without being able to play a demo of it is even worst.
Anyway have a nice week!

gardea | February 7th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
Nice update. I’ll download the Lost Planet MP demo tomorrow, when there’s less people downloading.
64
Enedok | February 7th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
@Hedrakk and all the other people complaning about USD vs CAD.
I’m not an economic genius when it comes to cash and all that, but I think you people got it somewhat wrong. As far as I know the CAD has been pretty stable (Up and down, but still) but the USD has fallen way down. The Sony part in Japan is losing money in the US, not earning more money on the Canada’s dollar.
But companies in US on the other hand are dragging in more money not just from Canada, but from all other countries since the dollar has dropped so much. :/
65
darkiewonder | February 7th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
SO it’s basically confirmed that Brave Story will be put on the PC Store? If yes, then i’m all over that game <3
66
Ramage | February 7th, 2008 at 6:22 pm
Again, I’ll keep asking this till we get answered. Why do we have to wait an extra 2 days for Rock Band Content? We should get it when the 360 does.
67
Daver | February 7th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
@Heddrak
lolll XD They will prolly fix it soon if the CDN dollar and the US keep the parity without sign of changing anytime soon… (i know it takes time)
I agree lol sport ski was horrible lol but it was 2.99$ so i dont care… i just bought skydiving ill try it.. i will let you know how is it if you want
68
elprimodebklyn96 | February 7th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
that demo has alot of fixing to do. i cant nearly get in a room and it says the room is full.go sports skydiving is awesome but the online is having minor problems.
69
elprimodebklyn96 | February 7th, 2008 at 6:44 pm

Just nabbed myself some Crash baby!
On the other hand this LP demo doesn’t seem to want to work with getting into a game.
72
foolio_67 | February 7th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
Pretty good!
73
Cobra Girl | February 7th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
A couple things. First, I liked the update today. It had a very nice mix of content. Great job!
Second: I live in Seattle, WA and I think its wrong for the PS store not to have parity with the Canadian Dollar. Is there an issue with the Canadian Government?
Third: I really think its wrong for you guys to put out these blog posts (a.k.a. advertisements) and never respond to anyone’s posts… especially those that are reasonable. Sony stated in this month’s EGM they don’t want to be perceived as arrogant, but that is exactly what ignoring your fan’s and consumer’s responses is.
Please… 2-way commmunication!
Thank you.
74
Destroyer41139 | February 7th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
@ rampage it’s simple 360 gets xbox live update on tuesdays and psn updates on thursdays no matter what.
75
cmargary | February 7th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
WOW… Sony is finally giving love to psp users as well…. just an advice… release the PSN cards for once and for all to help you sell all the good games in the PS3 and PSP store but the psp users needed more because more minors use the psp and adult people use more the ps3… so…
76
Umalakai | February 7th, 2008 at 11:50 pm
Sounds good, you guys seem to be doing really great with your store updates. Can you do me a favour though? Can you give the guys at SCEE a kick up the ass and tell them to get a move on for us in the UK? We still havent got pain, high velocity bowling, or even everyday shooter.
Got the first two crash games on my PS3/PSP, cant wait for warped to come out over here. Good job guys

Great Update thinks sony.
78
slicecom | February 8th, 2008 at 5:37 am
@ anyone saying that it makes sense for the online content to cost more in Canada, why do all of the games and the system itself cost the same as the US here, but online content costs more?
79
Question Question | February 8th, 2008 at 7:05 am
I already own Go! Puzzle for my PS3. Will I have to re-purchase the game to play it on my PSP?
80
Scodo_Thope | February 8th, 2008 at 8:29 am
@Enedok #33… Thanks for suggesting Pixel Monsters…. I have DL’d and will explore this weekend.
81
cmargary | February 8th, 2008 at 9:42 am
@80 Scodo_Thope
if you can do a japan account, you can see the demo of monsters but now you download it I can say it’s a great game… I don’t see how great was it until I play the demo.. thats why sony needs to release demos of every each PSN game… good for them and for us… and don’t start that is a thing of the developers because if they push the developers that in each game needs a demo they will do it… I know the PSN is more flexible in that part but come onnn!!!
82
subbed | February 8th, 2008 at 10:17 am
@81 I agree they really do need more demos. Certain things might be able to fly without a demo such as the PS1 games, but the rest should. After you get burned getting one you didn’t like its hard to hit add to cart on another unique PSN game.
83
Cow_Shed | February 8th, 2008 at 11:06 am
@Enedok
I know you probably don’t log into the Canadian store and wouldn’t know this but it isn’t straight currency conversion that’s pissing canadian consumers off here… Look at these price differences:
PixelJunk Monsters 7.99 US 8.99 CDN
Tori Emaki (PSEYE game) 1.99 US 2.99 CDN
Rockband DLC .99 US 1.99 CDN
You see where I’m going with this? It is the top end that is unfair, it’s the bottom end. Adding a $1 to a 99 cent download is ludicrous. As well, PS3 boxed games are now the same price in Canada as in the States so your argument with our dollar remaining weak against the Yen isn’t valid… besides SCEA is an American company, on the Dow and everything so I imagine they operate in US dollars…but I’m getting off track. The 1$ charge across the board on CDN downloads is unfair. buying $30 worth of Rockband DLC could cost you double… thats what the real beef is about imo.
84
Gregero | February 8th, 2008 at 11:14 am
Why is everybody at Sony too pusssy to answer and try to fix the problem with Canadians having to pay more. Their games cost as much as hours so their online games should to. You guys at Sony are really Fukked up people to be avoiding their questions like that. But then again you’ve never cared.
85
Gregero | February 8th, 2008 at 11:16 am
One of you Canadians ought to take this stuff to a news station and have it aired. Putting these screw heads on the spot may help.
86
Kash76 | February 8th, 2008 at 11:44 am
How about some remote play for those of us PS3 version owners??
87
Gord Lacey | February 8th, 2008 at 11:49 am
There were a couple of weeks where the Canadian prices and US prices were the same. Go! Ski is still $2.99 on the Canadian store (and the US store), and LocoRoco is only $0.50 more on the Canadian store. Ah, EveryDay Shooter is also the same price on both stores ($9.99). Since October we’ve had $1 added onto most items, and a few (like the $0.99 US PAIN characters) have been $0.50 extra.
I’ve spent enough money on the store that I could have one or two “free” games based on the extra dollar I’ve been paying, but guess what, that’s not going to be an issue any more. I have more than enough to play on my PS3, so I won’t be buying any more games off the store until I see parity between the stores, or until I can find a way to buy off the US store (likely whenever the PSN cards come out).
88
Gregero | February 8th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
Sony is smelling more and more like sh!t with the way they’re handling pricing for the Canadian’s and with the BS they’re randomly throwing on the PS Store. There’s plenty more PSOne games out there than Crash. If anybody thinks what they’re doing to U.S. and European customers is fair you should see the Japanese store. They have some really cool stuff that Sony refuses to give other nations because they think people in Japan are better than the rest of the world. What happened to movies and music and a better PS Store? Buncha PR BS.
89
Hedrakk | February 8th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
@67 Daver
I would really like to know your comments on Sky Diving. It looks fun, but I hate throwing my money out of the window, even if it’s just 2.99 $ like Go Sport Ski.
@83 Cow_Shed
Thank you very much for your understanding of our canadian pricing problem. Not everybody seems to find it unfair.

Danger-x | February 8th, 2008 at 6:54 pm
Lost Planet was ok.but 1 demo is quite a disgrace from Sony.Where is that so called update that you Dyan Jobe were talking about this was to address the stability of being online when playing War Hawk!?.it was also supposed to fix the Ranking in War Hawk no it wasn’t the update 2.10 it was a update to fix War hawk’s connectivity issues etc..
I still see Server Code Error when playing this game gezz man charge for playing online then you would get rid of those campers and cheaters in War Hawk Dyan Jobe!..Until then the game is for sisses!
91
Cow_Shed | February 8th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
@Gord Lacey
This is what I’ve been doing till the prices are fixed
http://www.playstation-mafia.com/index.php/44/usuk-psn-stores-for-international-gamers-or-how-i-stopped-worrying-and-learned-to-love-entropay/
@Hedrakk
Those that find it unfair probably aren’t paying the poor prices
well that’s not true, a lot of Americans have been voicing their support in the PS3 forums just as I would for them if it was the other way around!
92
Gord Lacey | February 8th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
Cow_Shed, I’ve seen services like that before, but not that particular one. I travel down to the US on business, so I may look into buying a prepaid Mastercard gift card next time I’m down there.

Judging from @91 Sony will now stop the Entropay users too just like they stopped Wirecard users.
Since no one seems to answer or care, for the first time in my life I will spam about something. I endured enough spam from the in game XMB maniacs. But this I think is far more important than in game XMB.

Enough already. This regional store for each and every country idea was the dumbest idea ever conceived by grown men. You either don’t understand the market at all, or you want to promote piracy of your own products. There people want to PAY you and you are refusing. How dumb can a publisher get? I can download ANY game from ANY digital distribution website in the world. STEAM can do it. How come the almighty SONY is unable to pull this off?
95
DMeisterJ | February 9th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
Sony. Please stop releasing Crash Bandicoot and Jet Moto games on the PSN. Go for some third party games. I am a psychic, and in 2 weeks, I predict Jet Moto 3 on the PSN. Actually, Wild Arms 2 wouldn’t be that bad, and you guys have the first one on there now. That would actually be okay.

You know what, I’ve been thinking. The songs that are coming out for Rock Band are good, but is there any news on if there might be some Dragonforce songs coming to it?

oryan684 | February 12th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
When is sony going to have some good ps1 original games to download. I mean the whole reason to spend money on downloading these games is because they were the good games we loved when the PS1 was out. So WHERE IS FINAL FANTASY 7, TACTICS, RESIDENT EVIL ETC.. SONY you know all u have to do is make FF7 A DOWNOLOADABLE GAME, CHARGE 10 TO 15 BUCKS AND EVERYONE WILL SPEND THE MONEY TO DOWNLOAD LOOK AT THESE GAMES ON EBAY HOW MUCH PEOPLE PAY FOR THEM. COME ONE SONY YOUR OWN GAMES GET PRICE GOUGED ON EBAY USE THIS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE MAKE THEM DOWNLOADABLE AT A CHAEPER PRICE AND YOU WILL MAKE A PROFIT. USE YOUR BRAINS MY FRIENDS.
