We spend a lot of our time (well, nearly all of it really) explaining why the PlayStation 3 is the most powerful, best value video gaming console you can buy. Well, the March issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly helps further the cause and explain what’s in store this year, with a cover story on why “2008 will rock” for the PS3 and its owners and fans. We, of course, agree. Covering off on subjects such as the amazing software line-up this year including LttleBigPlanet and MGS4, Blu-ray, PlayStation Network, and PSP cross-functionality, this is a pretty comprehensive article that is definitely worth a read. Subscribers should have it already, the rest can pick it up when it hits shelves next week.

Actually C-h-a-o-s, once upon a time, they were an extremely good mag. Infact as being one of the first mags about console gaming, they were really great.
But I digress, this was so long ago, most players were probably not even born then.
After their original Editor in Chief stepped down from the position (I forget his name) the mag slowly declined in quality (read: objective) writing. Ive owned just about every console you can think of, and would not buy their mag if you gave me the money to do it with lol.
Sorry I’ll stop this rant, its just that citing EGM as any source of opinion or insightfulness infuriates me.

I’ve read in a few places online that Sony will not be having a presentation/keynote address at this years GDC along the lines of what they had last year. But rather just a workshop for developers on how to create content for home and a booth or 2 for demonstrations.
Is this true and if so does this mean we can probably not expect any big announcements regarding home/games/firmware?
Any info on wether they are going to have a press conference or not would be great. Beause if they are not it would be nice to know now rather than wait till then. It seems most people I run in into on the forums around the ewb are under the belief that there will be some big news at the GDC

This weekend I had a friend over, we played The Darkness during the day, Singstar (PS2 backwards compat.) for a while in the evening then streamed a film across from the PC. After that we did some martial arts training with the PS3 streaming music from my PC. For everything we did, the PS3 made it easier and better. It really is a great machine, but its games are currently lagging behind the 360.
Sony tech support need to get in gear and really help out developers to make sure they get the most from the PS3. Microsoft jump into action, but Sony are legendary for their lack of tech support. I believe this has got to be part of what is causing the lag in game quality.

My old OPM subscription got rolled over into an EGM one when they stopped publishing the mag, so you can imagine how upset I was at the quality of the material! I have of course since cancelled my subscription.
2007 did not suck for PS3. I bought one at launch, and I have absolutely loved it ever since. I must admit that the beginning of 2007 was a bit lean – but it got better and better as the year went on.
