Lots of stuff, that is a nice change. Lots of music content and since I own both games that’s excellent news.
However, I have to say, again, where are the PSOne games? SCEA is really missing the boat on PSOne games. Not only can they played on the PS3 but they can be played on the PSP! Hello, anyone home?
4 boxes.

Nice update but $1.50 per song on AI is a bit much IMO. Especially since I already have all of them on previous PS2 KR games.

C-h-a-o-s | March 27th, 2008 at 3:15 pm
What happened to PS1 games? That’s the only reason I bother to check this since I don’t have a PS3, and the rest of the PSP content is lackluster at best.

rukusa | March 27th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
I sense massive win in that update. Good job.
I was expecting alot especially since it took so long.
I wonder if the EU update will have anything worth, its taking quite some time aswell.

Phantasmn707 | March 27th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
Overall it’s a nice update, but can we at least get half of the great PS1 games that the Japan PLAYSTATION Store has?

Can someone at least explain to everyone here who bought a $500.00 Game system why regions get content, and other regions dont?
I feel like its a slap in the face of everyone to keep so tight lipped. It would be simple to just explain it so everyone could know why. I don’t like having to open multiple PSN accounts for D I G I T A L content that has “e” ratings.
Noel Silvia replied on March 27, 2008 at 3:50 pm
That’s a really good, and often asked question.
Some of the most common reasons for content appearing in one region and not another are:
- language differences / translation needed,
- different rating boards in different regions (ESRB in the US, PEGI in Europe) take different time to review the content,
- licensing limitations allow the content to appear only in certain regions,
- not all content appeals to audiences cross-culture.
- the region that created the content will usually have it first due to the natural process of creation.
Sometimes it’s a combination of reasons, but hope these help you understand why different regions have different content!

Nice update btw… for the west that is.

Vegaz | March 27th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
*Sigh* Another game I’ll have to get on 360 due to rediculous download prices in Canada. I’m not paying $2.50 for the American Idol songs. I already rented it on that but was waiting to see if Sony would finally do the smart thing. Guess I just won’t be getting Singstar at all.
23
Al2x | March 27th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
No demos? That sucks…Can’t we have a RB6V2 demo? Whatever, I’ll take the GTA IV trailer I guess.
Pretty lackluster update if you don’t want to spend money.
Nick Colberg replied on March 27, 2008 at 4:54 pm
If you don’t want to spend money, there are still plenty of new items for you to download this week:
Unreal Tournament 3 Map Pack = Free
High Stakes: Video Chat Add-on = Free
MGS4 Wallpaper = Free
The Eye of Judgment Theme = Free
GT5 Prologue, Warhawk, God of War Chains of Olympus, Pure, Wyclef’s “Fast Car”, and GTA IV Trailers are all - you guessed it - Free!

CurryUdon | March 27th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
Thankfully, there were no PS1 games again this week. Nobody wants them anyways. Good to see they are a thing of the past. Thanks Grace, great update!
25
Tondog | March 27th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
@Crimson_Ryan
But R-Type Command is a demo…a great one at that.

Major01 | March 27th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Downloading the Boston pack now! Dang, there is alot of songs for that idol game its too bad i cant sing. And i also agree about the PS1 games being a no show.

Is there any way to download just the expansion pack for flOw for everyone who already owns the game?
Nick Colberg replied on March 27, 2008 at 4:41 pm
The flOw Expansion pack can be found under the View All tab. Just look for flOw in the “Browse by Title F” section.

A Free music video?!?
*Cool!
thanks!
I knew the Sony BMG catalog would be utilized someday! Hopefully more to come! (like movies and tv shows and sporting events etc. etc.)
And thanks for the themes and wallpapers!
****And to those complaining of no demo’s-
It’s not Sony’s fault, there have been no new demos on XboxLive for nearly 2 weeks! It’s just a slow time!*****
A lot of content here this week!
too bad Guitar Hero III doesn’t have the add-on gusto like Rock Band! (since we only have Guitar Hero III)
I still don’t see why they didn’t just include the songs with the original game…but of course I see the cents in it…literally! and dollars.
/off topic/
GTAIV is coming in late April!….definitely going to miss out on reality and the rest of the world for a while after that game comes out..
any word on downloadable content for that game coming to PSN? Or is it just XboxLive? Unfortunately that is a tipping point for some consumers out there..hopefully they are timed exclusives…
/on topic/
Thanks for the update!

Al2x | March 27th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
@frito:
The GTA IV content is exclusively [bought for $50 million] for the Xbox 360.

Playstation store on PC is not working with my PSP.. i always get an error and wont work… what can i do?
40
P_tear_griffin | March 27th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Why is the PSP content not fully available through the PS3?
Noel Silvia replied on March 27, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Good question.
Certain content is only licensed for distribution via specific devises which is why some PSP specific content can only be found for download through the PC Store.
Hope this answer helped!
41
Daver | March 27th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
@40 loll i wanted to know the same thing, i want to get this Crisis core theme but the store on Pc is not working even if i did everthing i was suppose to do
42
frito | March 27th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
Oh yeah I forgot to say - (and this on-topic in as much as this could be part of a future update)
I hope the Sony BMG catalog will also extend to being able to buy music also, in the .mp3 form like on amazon,..so you can pick and choose what track you like, so you don’t have to buy the whole album if you don’t want to!
And have 30 second streaming previews of all songs!
Now that would make SONY TONS OF MONEY!
I just have to stress I hope the update we have all heard about coming to PSN soon is more than just a visual facelift and a new functionalities to introduce HOME,
but also the integration of the SonyBMG catalog!
Renting movies digitally (or even buying them outright) and having TV episodes to watch in HD is really convenient and could generate real MOOLA!
anyway, I just want the PSN to be the best it can be!
AND PLEASE KEEP THE PSN AD FREE! (or at least not as cluttered with ads as the XboxLive Blades…geez, talk about a visual digital vomit all over the screen!
I LOVE the Cross Media Bar! So simple and elegant compared to the mind*f* that is Xbox Blades!
thanks for listening, I just got home from work and had some hash browns and seaweed like Jonathan Mak from Everyday Shooter!

@8 Phantasmn707 and 10 EvoAnubis:
Why wait for MGS1 on the PSN? Metal Gear Solid Esential Collection just came out and has all 3 MGS games for only 30 ka-ching! I’d rather have a hard copy of MGS1 anyways…
Anyways, great job sony! There isn’t a whole lot that appeals to me, but at least you’ve been listening to the feedback and piled on the videos an trailers. I’ll be downloading the r-type demo tonight :-)

As of 11pm GMT, the EU store has still not been updated yet. It’s quite possible we’re not going to get anything this week. Or maybe it’s delayed. Who knows?
45
BCF69 | March 27th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Yet another sucky update. 7 WEEKS without even ONE PS1 game added. Why even bother having ANY? WOW a whole 20 games. Sony appearantly hates money. They must since many of us are waiting to give Sony our money if they offer something worth paying for. Hint hint.

49
crystalx3d | March 27th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
@42
I agree, being able to download music and video directly to the ps3 and psp from the PSN would be great and make sony a lot of money. Maybe they’re just being cautious after sony Connect went down the tubes. :-/ After the improved divx compatibility, I wonder if they’ll just make the ps3 divx ultra compliant and sell videos using the divx video on demand system. Then at least the content wouldn’t be stuck in some proprietary format only playable on ps3. Unlikely, but I can always hope!

Knowing how badly Sony have been treating us Europeans I fully expect nothing.
If only they would communicate with us :(
