  • Shameful.

We need demos. Lair needs patches. Our PSPs need new PS1 classics!

  • I just watched “Fast Car” music video.

What a joke. Two thumbs down.

Good luck getting that music video in TRL’s Top 10. You guys need it.

  • This update was even better than last week’s.The UT3 free maps are definitely the icing on the cake for me..

  • thatsmartguywiththefro

Personally I think it’s sad such a great, not to mention large, update has barely over a 4 out of 5 when it’s so much of in improvement over past updates….though, it still is considerably better than the horrible, but sadly deserved, 2’s and 3’s we’ve been seeing for awhile.

  • Oh no!

I just bought fl0w last night and now there’s an expansion pack! :(

  • GOOOOD update i was suprised

  • The Rock band boston pack is pretty much the greatest thing ever…

  • Noel Silvia

Are you guys ever going to get the PC store to work on Mac’s?

I just told my friend to check the site out, as he has a PSP. Although, I just read that the site doesn’t work on Mac’s and he has one.

I think it would be smart to expand your services to as many customers as possible. Making the site available to everyone should be a high priority.

    • This a commonly raised and valid point.
Unfortunately, the only current solutions are:
      – dual boot or similar OS solution,
      – PSP Games and PSP Demos can be purchased and / or downloaded to your PSP via your PS3,
I\’ll make sure to pass along your concern, though.

  • @ Noel Silvia
Does Sony have any plans to put third party full psp games on the playstation store or is it only restricted to first party games?

  • Thanks Noel for having to put up with our often rude comments (mostly related to the PS Store updates) on this blog and taking the time to answer them. I’m glad to see Sony or at least SCEA has changed its stance on communicating with us gamers about what we like and don’t like. Hope you guys keep it up and look forward to your theme post. :-]

  • Simple Q. Is the PSN ever going to offer more than what every other store online offers? It is, WHAT PlayStation means to us. It’s time to show up.

You got the Movies, now get into the game.

  • well i gusse none of u can comment to my question reguarding it so i move on to something that u guys could pass alone what about having music bands perform and we could see it on the ps3 by a live steam of some form sony had some of the greatest bands in the world. one of my personal favatore is “Red” which i know works for sony so noel u think u could pass that idea along please respond to this one atleast

    • Didn\’t mean to make it seem like I was ignoring you, erico316, but since this blog post is about the PlayStation Store specifically, I was just trying to keep things On Topic. :)
I can tell you that when official details are announced, you\’ll be able to read about them right here on the PlayStation Blog.

Interesting ideal for having \”streaming concerts\”. Something tells me I\’m going to need a bigger notepad to keep track of all these ideas!

  • @77 tagout:
Getting ps1 games on the PSN isn’t as simple as just ripping the disk straight to your memory stick. There’s some code that needs to be rewritten specifically for each game to get it to be emulated properly on an entirely different system.

And to address your other statement, I would bet that Sony only holds the licenses to release a specific game for the original platform it was designed for (the ps1). That means that for sony to legally release a ps1 game again on the PSN, they would have to re-negotiate a new license with the original game designers, and the license would probably be region specific.

  • @everyone
    Listen to crystalx3d!!!
He knows what hes talking about. Its not as easy as most think to port a ps1 game not only to ps3 but it must also play on the psp. And it just takes time is all.

  • @111 ummm…ever hear of Flow? Or maybe everyday shooter??

Both are PS3 only, award winning games.
And both HVB and Pain have got HUGE followings.
Sooo…i dont really see what your talking about.

P.S. Pixel junk is the BOMB!!!even the 1up show has taken note.

  • Week 3 without PSN:
I still have yet to do the 2.17 update. Browsing through this update, I think I can wait another week

  • Can a current Warhawk DL user please respond (or SONY if they wish).

If I download Warhawk…can ALL the accounts on my one PS3 play the game or only me as it was downloaded under my account?

The answer will make or break whether I leap into Warhawk or not. I want myself and others in the household to be able to play under their own PSN id.

    Thanks in advance.

    • Currently, if you download Warhawk from the PlayStation Store, the PSN account that it was purchased with must be logged in to play the game.
You can still play the game with multiple local players either online or offline so long as the purchaser is logged in on the PS3 with his / her PSN account.
If stat tracking for multiple accounts is a concern, you might want to splurge for the retail version (plus, you get a wireless Bluetooth headset with it!).
If it\’s not and you\’d like to save some money AND not have to worry about the hassle of a disc, the downloadable version is a great option.
Hope that helps to answer your questions!

  • BTW…since we are trying hard to keep conversation civil on this blog I’d say that Nick’s RROD avatar is a bit of a provocation no?

  • @kspraydad

Sorry to say that no, if you buy the download version only the account who purchase the game can play it. You can play each other online or offline but by under your name. In an update I hope Dylan make everybody in the same ps3 can play the game because my brother wants to play online to rank himself and he can’t so maybe it’s better for you to but the tangible version.

Anyway you need to play this game, it’s the most addictive game I played a while and that’s too much to say. If you have a PS3 you need warhawk.

  • First of all, thank you SOOO MUCH for actually responding to your comments. Your (and Sony’s) dedicated efforts are extremely appreciated, and makes me happy to be PS3 owner.

I know you already responded about this, but I think it would be a FANTASTIC idea to somehow link the videos on this blog (like the instructional firmware videos, etc.) to the Information Board. Any idea like this you could pass along would be phenomenal!

But about the Store update, I have to say this is one of the better ones I have seen so far this year. Loads of content and price drops (what a brilliant idea it was to lower Warhawk’s price right before a major patch update! Excellent!!) are always good things. The only possible way this update could have been better would be if it included a couple of demos. Other than that, today’s update was very satisfying.

Thanks for all your dedication, and I am looking forward to the PS Store redesign next month! Keep up the great work!

    • Currently, you can get more information about many of the news items on the InfoBoard by pressing RIGHT on your controller. I agree that it\’s great to link from there directly to this blog, so I guarantee that you\’ll be seeing more of that functionality in the future.
Thanks for the support and the ideas!

  • Will the U.S. also be getting Metal Gear Solid for the PSN like Japan?

  • Sony Europe, speak to us! Wheres the PSN Update? Where’s GT5P?

    • Since this is the blog for SCEA and not SCEE, unfortunately, we can\’t help you out.
Please try threespeech.com as they\’re our closest equivalent across the pond.
Hopefully they\’re able to help you.
      Sorry. :(

  • Since there is no European equivalent of this blog (AFAIK), I’ll put my question here: Will there be a European update? Furthermore, according to playstation.nl flOw for PSP should be out on March 20, but nothing yet? Any information please?

  • Quality over quantity guys.

Yeah, there is a lot of stuff…but not a single thing I want.

  • ummm I know this probably won’t be responded but are there any plans to let us, your neighbors south of the border (yeah I’m Mexican) download stuff from the PSN because PS3 rocks and this is the only flaw I’ve noticed in an otherwise perfect online service (at least for me) because all we can download is free stuff

(here’s the shorter version) please allow us to buy psn products cause they are really cool (i.e. Warhawk pixeljunk etc.)

This is something on and off-topic so I thought I might say it. thanks for the great update

  • and what about the european ps store ? Did the update be cancelled ?

  • Guys, you’re really unlikely to get updates on the Euro store here. You’re better off complaining over at Three Speech – http://www.threespeech.com – okay, you won’t get an answer there either, but at least there’s a better chance that the right people are listening.

It looks like the update – or the important part of it anyway, GT5:P – won’t be happening until tomorrow at the earliest:

    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=265197

The great thing about the Euro store is that it means however bad a US update is, you know you’re never worse off than those of us in Europe. Roll on pre-paid PSN cards – once they’re available by mail order, nobody in Europe will be using their local network.

  • Is there any news on the PLAYSTATION Store revamp John Hight mentioned in GameSutra? Is the nagivation going to be easy to use say with the controller as the default controls for navigation because the current design is got some mouse cursor thing going on and it can be annoying to use at times.

Apart from that, nice update! UTIII maps are awesome! A lot of free content available this week which is great!

    Thanks again!

  • That is very unfortunate about the non-ability to have multiple users of the same console rank themselves with the dl version of Warhawk.

I assume this will be the same problem with all DL content like GTP as well?

The disc version at $59 is still too dear a price for online only for me.

    :(

  • I think its pretty unapologetic how people at Sony oviously reads most of the Posts here, and didnt say anything clear about the missing EU-Update yet. I mean, even if you dont know it, you have the numbers, you can ask SCEE. Its Friday 12am now, and there still isnt an update. I liked when the PS3 surpassed the 360, but right now I think it didnt earned it. After a series of bad updates we dont get a update at all? I mean, any response is a positive response! Does it take longer to ready up GT5P? Fine! Is there a problem and the Update will come a few days later? No Problem! Saying nothing and hope people shut up when the problem is solved….no thats a policy that makes people hate a company.

    • Since this is a blog for SCEA, it would be unprofessional for us to comment on the workings over at SCEE.
Please re-direct your concern over this to threespeech.com
Sorry we can\’t help, but nice to know that you still consider this a positive response.

  • Noel Silvia

I just want to know if sometime in the future will be released an Official Devil May Cry 4 Theme? (I’m a big fan of the DMC series) I know there’s one on the internet (I really don’t like it) but I’m not the only one asking for an official one?

    Thank you before hand!!!

    • The Devil May Cry is an awesome series and with the popularity of the new game, I\’d love to get a new theme for it up on the Store.
I\’ll talk to my contacts with Capcom and see what I can do.
If we do get a theme, I promise it won\’t take 20 minutes to install it. ;)

  • How much HD space does Warhawk take up? I am not sold on the idea of buying big ticket games digitally… I like that warm fuzzy feeling I get looking at my collection of disks.

    • Warhawk requires approximately 800 MB of hard drive space.
Operation Omega Dawn is just under 200 MB.
      Hope this helps!

  • #101

Did you ACTUALLY say that LAIR needs patches?!! Good Lord, Lair should be in your garbage bin by now.

The last thing we want Sony wasting their time on is fixing a game that absolutely nobody plays anymore (or ever should have).

They need to deal with real issues. Not try to appease the 18 people who actually enjoyed Lair.

  • how come the european store hasnt been updated its nice to no that SCE care about the european costomers

  • #131

I wouldn’t buy a big-ticket game digitally either. I like to have the disc for several reasons:

    1. I can bring it over to a friend’s house and play there.

    2. I can lend it to other people (or swap it for other games I haven’t tried)

    3. I still have the game even if my PS3 bricks and I’m forced to get a replacement system.

    4. I can sell it if I ever want to.

  • First off the update isnt bad (only waiting for ps1 games then ill be 100% happy :D) its alot better than the last few.AN IDEA FOR SONY (put up a list off stuff ucant talk about …you know like releases and secret software plans or you know just anything u cant talk about in general it would save some of us the time of asking .And my main question is could we have a chatroom on the PS3 until home comes out to where we can talk about this stuff ps3 owner to ps3 owner (sony rep would be nice too :D) im not sure if it would be too much hassle for it (might be better off waiting for home if home is still coming out in the next 3-4 months)and i have a question about the castlevania SOTN on the PSN is it the PSX Version or is it the Saturn version? if its not the Saturn version could u possibly add it in the future …okay im done harassing you guys i hope i get a response…BTW thanx for the hard work and i hope it only gets better

  • Another good question, hope it gets a response as well: Why are Canadians being charged 10% more than Americans for Warhawk? Why are add-ons routinely priced 10-15% higher?
I’m aware that you Americans like to navel gaze occasionally, so I’ll let you know that the Canadian dollar is at or above parity with it’s US counterpart… so, again, why the price difference?

  • Thanks for our store update in EU Sony!…..

    ….Last week…

So wheres this weeks update? :S

  • Hope Prologue will hit store today. Not bad update. And what happened to Jeff?

    • Sorry to tell you, but Gran Turismo 5 Prologue won\’t be in our (SCEA) Store today.
I can let you know, however, that it is \”Coming Soon\”…

Jeff is still around; he\’s just been nice enough to let me jump in on PlayStation Store related blog posts since I\’m more involved directly with it.
I\’ll tell him everyone says \”hello\”!

  • It’s obvious that Sony isn’t going to answer the question about the discrepancy between Canadian and US pricing. It’s a shame, because it’s a question that deserves an answer.

Personally, I’ve made the decision to just stop buying DLC content from PSN until either the price situation is remedied or until Sony provides at least some form of explanation as to why Canadians are being asked to pay more. It hurts me to do that (there are a ton of great Rock Band songs I want to download) but I refuse to do further business with a company that takes advantage of me (and does it behind a veil of silence).

I know it won’t make any difference whether I buy from Sony or not. But at least I won’t feel like a chump getting ripped off again and again.

I encourage all Canadians to make the same decision.

    • Unfortunately, this is one of those topics I can\’t comment on directly as I\’m more on the \”art end\” of the Store than the \”business side\” and am not in a position to speak on this with authority.
I know that this response doesn\’t necessarily help, but know that your frustration isn\’t being ignored.

  • I agree. I bought the last Warhawk addon, but I’ll be darned if I’m gonna pay more for the next installment without at least an explanation of why I’m expected to pay more. Same goes for anything else I see on the Sony Store. Count me in, Ed.

  • I agree Ed. Until I’m at least given a reason for the higher prices here, I’m not about to buy anything from the Sony Store. It’s kinda ridiculous… if you take Warhawk as an example, I can buy the Bluray edition without headset at EBGames here in Kingston for $39.99, but the regular price for the downloadable version is, what, $42.99.
Why any Canadian would buy anything offered on the PSN is beyond me.

  • Oh, double post. No, make that a triple. Well, maybe it’ll get someone’s attention :)

  • Noel Silvia, THANK YOU FOR ACTUALLY RESPONDING TO PEOPLE’S QUESTIONS. I am writing this simply to encourage SCEA to keep this behavior. After the past few weeks of weak updates and complete silence from SCEA on this board, it is really, really nice to actually here someone explain these issues to the fan base. I hope SCEA realizes how important this is for customer relations and PR and that someone like you is always responding to legitimate and non-abusive posts. BE HERE NEXT WEEK.

    • Mom…? ;)

As I mentioned above, I\’m really excited to have been given this opportunity to speak directly with my fellow gamers.
Please remember that there are many things that I can\’t comment on, but you should be able to find me here in the coming weeks to answer and address what I can.

  • I would like to see the videos with the PS Eye doing the tank games and stuff that was posted on her last year. That was impressive and I showed it to one of my friends that own a 360 and he is now planning to get a ps3. Also the thing with the 3d VR using the PS eye as a head tracker. That is impressive tech right there and it should be show to all how far sony is pushing this gen of games.

  • Why did Japan get ps1 Metal Gear Solid and we didn’t?

    • Please refer to my previous posts addressing why certain regions receive specific content that others don\’t or why there are different release schedules for each region.
Hope those reasons help answer your question.

  • Hey there. i was wondering if you can please talk to Rockstar and ask them if they can implement Remote play? that would be truely awesome. i love remote play.

oh, and when are new PS1 games coming out? Japan has a crapload and we have barely any! please put more up sometime.

  • Where is my Final Fantasy VII download? Or a Silent Hill download? Or an Omega Boost download? Hey – what about the Lunar games? Or just all the rare, older stuff like how they offer them on the Wii console. COME ON SONY!! Just give us more “game” downloads.

  • I think this is a great update from a PSP perspective. Whether or not you are interested in those specific games, there is a nice variety with a demo, a theme, wallpapers, and movies. I full PSP game (which we had last week!) and a PSOne game are the only things missing. I have given up on getting any new PSONe games though… ever… :)

  • hey whats up guys, great update BTW. I have a question though today the European store got updated and it looks like the PS store revamped is already being advertised http://darkzero.co.uk/game-news/new-look-ps-store-adversited-on-ps-store/ , is this store revamp is going to come within a form of an console update or just a web update?
