I had been using an external 750 GB hard drive in place of the original 60 GB drive of my Australian PS3 since October last year. The drive is housed in an externally powered USB caddy that supports an eSATA connection. The hard drive is connected to the internal SATA socket of the PS3 that is exposed when the PS3’s internal hard drive is removed.

Up until I upgrading 2.20 I had experienced no problems using the large external drive. When I upgraded my PS3 to 2.20, the new firmware downloaded and installed without error. However, when it restarted after the firmware install, all it showed was the blowing silk background. It did not bring up the XMB.

I've done a bit of testing and found that a 2.20 PS3 will happily format both 500Gb and 750Gb drives, but can only boot with the 500Gb and not the 750Gb.

To cut a long story short, PlayStation tech support in Australia won't return emails on this subject. Does anyone from Sony care or know about this?

Was support for 750 GB and larger drives in 2.20 dropped intentionally? If so, why weren’t users warned prior to the 2.20 upgrade so they could save their data and upgrade smoothly.

Will support for 750 GB and larger drives be restored in a future firmware update?

it would be awesome if we could multitask while in gameplay, like listen to music from a device or the system, or maybe answer or send friends messages all during gameplay,

PLEASE, PLEASE give us like FireFox or Opera as a browser. No offense but the Sony built in browser is no where near as polished as either of the forementioned browsers. Either overhaul the Sony browser to be like FireFox, Opera (dare I even say Internet Explorer?) or give us the option of using one of the oter browsers insterad of Sonys.

I have one suggestion which I would expect is an easy fix: Turn the controller off automatically after say 10 minutes without use. Honestly, the only time I could imagine where it was laying still while "in use" would be when I watch a movie. But having to hit the ps button and waiting a few seconds would not be a problem. (You could even let there be an option to turn this feature off and maybe even say for how long one should wait before turning the controller off) I don't know the details, you figure it out. But do please!

Another thing: Could you consider releasing a new controller design? I think that the design today does not take into account the fact that we now have analog shoulder buttons. In order to make full use of both shoulder buttons and have a precision control of the analog buttons, I think it is necessary to get a good grip with only the little finger and the ring finger (same words for these fingers in English as in Norwegian?) I do not do this with the SixAxis design, and can't understand how anyone else really does neither. Have a look at e.g. Logic3's non-official controller for the PS2, which does this exact small redesign of your otherwise very good controller!

After upgrade to 2.20 CAN'T PLAY ANY DISK, I've seen a number of posts with same problem. I have a Spanish speaking PS3 bought in US. Everything was working perfect just before upgrade.

Any advice in solving this problem?

hey there;

is anyone else having any problems with the new update? I no longer have the display all option when I insert a disc with media files. Previous to this update, I could watch my divX files that were larger than 2.0gb up to the 2gb mark. However, now I cannot play them at all. Is anyone else having any issues like these?

ok so I got all happy that I am no longer going to have to split divx files in half to play them on my PS3. BUT now that I can play the entire file at once ( which im happy about) there is a problem in which it will play in 5.1 surround up until a certain point then it will switch to 1 channel.... ( so when that happens sound only comes out the center channel on my surround system) :(

it happens mainly near the ends of the files when there is like 20 or so movies left.. Most of all these divx files are between 2.14GB to 2.30GB. I have also noticed that it will sometime play to a point then I'll get an error saying the content can not be played...

anyone having this issue too? I hope its addressed by sony and it gets fixed. its really annoying and bothers me...

How about some anti-aliasing for Ps1 games?
And DVD-to-PSP ripping besides BD-to-PSP?

The XMB interface should show all our music folders across all the screen, not only the vertical pop-up menu. Have you noticed how boring to search for a Z artist/album is when you have to circle through all the others? I know there are some sorting options but most of them don't help very much.

Last but not least. ADD PSN SUPPORT FOR MEXICO, PLEASE. THE FACT THAT WE HAVE NORTH AMERICAN PS3'S DOESN'T MEAN THEY'RE ILLEGAL. NORTH AMERICAN SAM'S CLUB STORE CHAIN SOLD MANY OF THEM TO US IN MEXICO BY LEGAL MEANS.

MANY OF US HAVE VISA OR MASTERCARD CREDIT CARDS (IN OTHER WORDS, INTERNATIONAL CREDIT CARDS); SO WHY WON'T YOU ACCEPT THEM? MONEY IS MONEY, RIGHT? REGARDLESS OF ITS PROCEDENCE. AND YOU DO WANT MONEY.

INTERNATIONAL CREDIT CARDS ARE ACCEPTED IN MOST INTERNET SITES, LIKE AMAZON. SO WHY NOT YOU?
