Hi, everyone! Just wanted to provide an update about the PlayStation Store. The store for both the PS3 and PC will be unavailable starting early morning Monday, April 14 through early morning of Tuesday, April 15. You will not be able to access either store during this maintenance window.
As you know, we are preparing to release the revamped interface of the PlayStation Store for the PS3, which will be available on Tuesday. Regular weekly updates of the store will resume on Thursday, April 17, along with the release of GT5 Prologue.
Thanks for all the positive feedback about the upcoming store design!

No, obviously you didn’t read that “stuff” right. All the guy said was that the effort they used to provide this improvement for the PS Store should have been used for HOME and/or In-Game XMB. He didn’t say anything about stop providing for everything else.

I don’t know if anyone knows but a while back Playstation said that a private beta for Home would be given to those who have signed up there username on the blog to be invited to the beta. Is this true?
I’m anxious to use the new store.

Hey everyone! I’m a newcomer :p
I just want to say that it is our fault that we have connected Konami’s Big Announcement (which will probably be a MGS4 PS3 LE Bundle for pal territories), with the PSN store re-invention!
I’m just sick and tired waiting for in-game XMB and Home, like all you people! But the thing is that i haven’t bought my ps3 for these 2 features! So, i’m looking forward to my getting gtaIV and from now on i will be taking all the rumours, regarding the store,home and in-game XMB, with a grain of salt, thank you very much!
Just finish watching I am Legend BD. Talk about a confusing menu system. I swear I picked the one they showed in the theaters, but when I got to the end. It was the other ending. It totally ruined the movie for me. :( I went OL to do what I do best (complain). Was made to look like a fool. Went back to watch the real ending. It took a couple of trys, but finally got it. Better ending, but still sucked ;). The old PSN Store was never that bad.
I guess what I’m trying to get at. With three major system moving games coming forth in the next couple months. Is the PSN Store really the focal point in which Sony should be cleaning up? For people that have had the system now for awhile, the old store is a routine of a matter of a minute. For new people to the PS3 PSN Store. It’s a wonderful way to kick back and explore. I for one am someone that liked the old store and will no doubt like this one to. Just seems like something you should have done when the store content size forced your hand.

Wrong, if the game you intend to purchase is under 4.99, you have to put 5 dollars into your wallet, regardless of using the said method. This is why I asked this question specifically ;). Now the Buy Now feature may have remedy such problems, but I haven’t brought anything under 4.99 since this feature was added, so I don’t know, however I’d like to know that I don’t have to put extra money onto my wallet, when its not needed.
we all know. the new shop looks 1000 times better then the old one (good job sony). and in Game XMB will come soon or later (i dont need it know).
but i want a other Possibility to Pay the stuff on the store or to download new songs for singstar! i dont have a credit card and i waited a long time for the PSN-Cards!
My Wii-console has the Possibility. i can buy the wii-points-card in each store i want and can play the games from virtual console. and a friend has X-Box 360 and Microsoft has the same Possibility. so what are you waiting for sony?

Well I’ll Agree that HOME is important, but if Sony wants to get more poeple to buy their consoles, as well as more downloads from PSN they need their PSN Cards from Japan, and the UK to hit the US and other EU locations so all PS3 owners can get in on the action.
BTW killer job on the new Store! I like it’s layout and the fact that it has search functions makes it even better! You rock Sony!

You guys NEED more PSone games with this update Thursday. Seriously, the difference in support for that feature is ludicrous between Japan and everywhere else.
You guys need to release the HOME OPEN BETA, you need more testers, and more people to enjoy the experience.
We long time 60GB ps3 gamers should have been the ones in the beta, seeing as we payed the most for the PS3 in the first place.

Don’t worry guys, Home will be out for PS4. Sony just wants to keep perfecting it till then. From an Fall 07 full release to a Spring 08 full launch, to a summer 08 beta? Sony’s high if they think we still have interest in this. They can’t even be bothered to get us IN-GAME XMB, a simple functionality Microsoft has mastered since Nov.05, what makes you think we’ll get a project as ambitious as Home?

XMB in 2.4 refers to the supposed in game communication, which could be in Game chat or full on in Game XMB. However, this may or may not be happening by this summer do to delays.
I’m pretty happy with the new layout (including smooth visual effects).
But I really hope it comes with more interesting updates on thursday…

Since it apparent,you’ve never dealt with video game industry..maybe do a little research? Quit whining about XMB and Home..It’ll get here when its done unless you want to whine some more when Home comes out buggy or the XMB screen blacks out?? If you can’t have any patience..move on since the PS3 is not for you apparently.
Is there any possiblity that in the future paypal will be accepted? Where I come from it´s not common practice to have a creditcard and also rumour has come out that the PSN-cards might never see the light here in Europe either.
ok here is what i would like to see on the store this week i just counted my eye of judgment set 2 cards i have 88 of them yet i cant play them that really Blows ! i want to be able to pay the $15 to get the update this week not the 28 th or the 25 th

Come on guys! This is a post about the store being down b/c the PSN (which is free by the way) is being updated for us, yet all I read are posts by people whining about Home. Guess what?! I want Home and in-game XMB too but this isn’t the place to cry about it. It will be out and I’d rather have it perfected than rushed so chill out and enjoy the new store for now. SHEESH!!!
interesting move to have part of the store being generated on the client side, with the server just providing the data part, is this the first step into ‘home’ integration? or are you planning on other data feeds to enrich the store (PS radio is rumored).
BTW, a user ranking system of the DL-content would be most welcome. instead of trusting the gamer-sides, I would rely more on an official PS DL ranking.
One thing is to suggest features that Sony could implement in future updates. Another thing is to complain about features. It’s really disappointing to see that some people still do the latter when we are getting nice stuff like the revamped store. Guess you can never please everybody!
Love the new store layout can’t wait to use it! Good work on everything and please bring HOME soon!

Having some issues with broken images on the new store. The functionality is fine, just cant see the preview images … probably due to so many trying to access the store at once.

How do you view the videos in the store like this lady is demonstrating? So far, I have to view the videos in the same manner as before. I have to leave the store to view it. That is not what was demonstrated to us.

sorry for the double post, a word of advice for those of you without credit cards. You can just go purchase a prepaid greendot.com card and add whatever money you want on it and the PSN store will take it as a credit card. So please quit with the whining on “oh sony we need prepaid cards.” man they work for phones as well.. I am sure other countries have these at their disposal. Enough with the xbox dashboard rants…I own a 360 their dash is great for a few months then it becomes bothersome, there is nothing like playing a game getting seriously hooked on killing a boss or what not and some friend of yours randomly messages you and their little pop up menu distracts you and you die. It’s great to have don’t get me wrong but this pushy commentary is intrusive. Live is nothing, even their multiplayer aspect is a shame. Sure silver is free, but why pay for gold when you need to put up with idiots on there who have no intrest in playing fair?
At least on PSN I have yet to run into some lame n00b who claims their l33t. Then talks trash on my family or something. Again In Game XMB is cool, so is custom soundtracks but man once you get it, well it’s just another added feature that I guarantee half of the PS3 users won’t use after 5 months. Unless you’re a hardcore sports fan or xtreme sports fan. Thats just my opinion but Iv’e seen it occur already within the xbox community. PEACE
