Metal Gear Online Beta Postponed, Extended

Hi all! As many of you already know, the Metal Gear Online Beta, originally scheduled to launch today, April 21st 2008, has been postponed. Due to this, we’ve also put a hold on our regularly scheduled Metal Gear Mondays content on the PS Blog, to bring you the latest news.
Extraordinary levels of traffic from all over the world have caused the MGO Beta servers to destabilize, as such, the service has been unable to run. Because of this, we have made the following changes to the schedule.
The MGO team in Japan is currently working around the clock to stabilize the servers, and is aiming to launch gameplay this weekend of April 26th. We must note, given the current situation, this is subject to change.
To compensate for the delay, the MGO Beta period has been extended a week, now ending on May 11th. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please note that your MGO Beta UPVCs will only be valid up until May 5th 2008, so please make sure to register them by then.
Please stay tuned to konami.com, the PS Blog, the Konami ID site, and Konami Japan’s MGO teaser site for all the latest MGO Beta status updates. If you need assistance, please contact us via http://www.konami-data.com/support/ and you can email us at mgobetasupport@konami.com.

i heard that the beta is fixed and will begin again on friday at 0800 CEST which is today at midnight EST

Heads up guys, version 1.02 online, downloaded it already and it gives a error when trying to login, lol, I will test it tomorrow.

seriously almost all of you are idiots… the only comment i saw that made me happy was 118… dude bricfa, you seem to be the only one that realizes that problems like this are the whole reason for setting up an open beta

I downloaded just fine AT FIRST. Before i encountered network troubles i stayed on uploading to fellow peers to help them out with speeds. I was all good. But then i re-entered the game and ANOTHER server error! C’mon!!! Really?!?! The Beat test is supposed to be for the ACTUAL game–not the event/necessities leading up to it! The real idea behind a beta test is to bring the consumer/user to the product for product testing! Konami can’t even deliver that!!! We can’t even test yet!! This is like an f-ing alpha release! How bogus!
On another note, the several 360 XBL buddies i had interested in the game are now NOT interested! In fact, several were on the brink of buying a PS3! Not anymore…sorry Playstation…you have Konami to thank for that, though…

screw Konami! Used to be one of my favourites along with UBISOFT..not anymore!!! way too unprofessional, you can at least fix all your problems first then put it out for testing THE GAMEEEE not the SERVER!!!

I believe they’re not gonna have it up and running until tomorrow night at midnight, because the time that was posted was 4/25/08 at (24:00) if it was mid-night going from the 24th into the 25th would the time have said (00:00)? so it looks like we have to wait another day.

Well me and my friends just got GTA 4 early so looks like we wont be participating in this beta together. Sucks because my friends are hardcore 360 guys and have no games for PS3. Almost had them intrested in playing a game on PS3 together but since this beta was an epic fail we all got GTA 4 for 360 instead. Funny how things work. I feel bad for Sony, Hope things turn around this year. Because the ball is constantly being dropped.
