Hello PlayStation.blog readers. It’s Kumi! First, I wanted to thank everyone for reading my last post announcing the free demo for echochrome.

So as promised, I am back to tell you just when you can get your hands of the full version. echochrome will be available for you to download this THURSDAY, MAY 1 on the PlayStation Store for the PS3 and via the PC Store for the PSP. Both versions will be available for $9.99, so make sure you have funds in your wallet! There are 56 unique levels on the PS3 version, as well as 56 completely different levels on the PSP version (112 levels overall), so no matter if you are sitting at home or on the go, there are plenty of puzzles for you to wrap your brain around.

If you did not see my last post and are wondering “What is echochrome?” It’s a fun and addictive puzzle game with really elegant and simple graphics. The concept is inspired by the famous MC Escher artwork, which explores infinity, architecture and impossible constructions. In echochrome, you control the camera and perspective on an infinite canvas, guiding a mannequin figure by carefully tilting and turning the level to create a continual pathway, allowing your character to walk safely through the design. Also, there is a Canvas mode, where you will be able to create your own puzzles from scratch and share them with your friends, or even the world! You can still download the demo for free and sharpen your skills before taking on the full version when it is released on Thursday.

Stay tuned to the Playstation blog, because later this week, I will give you some tips on creating your own mind-bending levels to play and share with friends, as well as details on getting the top user-created levels each week for free (on the PS3 version).     Awesome!!! Sadly I’m so addicted to this game that I will probably purchase both versions…

    I have a quick question-

    Is the build your own levels for both versions of the game or just the PS3 version?

      The best of the PS3 user-created levels submitted to the developers will be distributed for free to PS3 version owners! We’re excited and waiting for customized levels from all of you!!

    Wonderful. The demo was pretty awesome. I would love to buy this game BUT since I don’t live in the US I depend on the existence of the fabled “Playstation Network Cards”… which are nowhere to be seen! >:(
    Come on! Where are those things? I would like to buy a lot of stuff from the store but I just can’t.
    Either that or you allow people to add funds with international credit cards… :/

    That’s balls to release this the same week as GTA IV. I understand there’s an audience for this kind of game that doesn’t play GTA-type of games. Good to keep all gamers happy and in games.

    I agree with above, this is one of my most anticipated psp downloads and I can’t buy it without the playstation cards, I really wish sony would have given a date instead of spring.

    I was wondering tho in the future might there be a way to skin the game so that the littel person was sommeone els like from other games or something it would be fun to see a chimera walkeing arond like that!?!?

    I was disappointed that the demo only had 3 levels in it. However, they gave me enough of an idea about the game so I’ll be getting this.

    Could you tell us if these are the same levels that are on the other PS Stores I bought the version from the HongKong store and it looked like there were different levels on the US version Is that the case?

    After the demo, it’s pretty clear to me that I would rather have this game for my PSP than my PS3, but the user-created content makes me want the PS3 version as well. Is there any chance of a discounted bundle with both versions in it? or will I have to buy them seperately if I choose to?

    In the full game, will you have to do each level to progress to the next level, or will you be allowed to pick and choose what to play? I could see myself getting stuck on a level and not being able to get any further, thus wasting $9.99.

    Can you answer that for me Kumi?

      If you get stuck, you can \”skip\” the level, so don\’t worry. : )
      If you want to see all the built-in levels and challenge each one, you can go to \”atelier\” mode where you see all the 56 levels divided by difficulty level. Enjoy!

    yeah that fine for you, but only for you, american friends… because like always, in europe, we will got a version that will cost much with less levels on the PS3 version… Isn’t it Kumi ? If you don’t answer, I’ll take it as if I was right!

    Thanks for the update. I will be buying this for PSP tomorrow and for my PS3 at a later date. $9.99 is a good price for this kind of content.

    Now back to GTAIV. :)

    Nice! Im not a fan of GTA so it will keep me busy until MGS4 lolll

    Based on the demo you guys released, I will be picking this up just to be able make my own levels!

    (another example of demos leading to actually *gasp* purchasing the game!…other developers take note!)

    very cool game, and very innovative…a great addition to the PSN lineup!

    but i will have to wait to purchase it until GTAIV gets old..

    If ever it is possible I’d really like the ability to change the music or, and I know this gets asked a lot but, play my own music. Playing through those levels with that music gave me a massive headache. I know, “Classical music gave you a headache?” Still…

    I loved the demo. However, the PSN rejects my international CC because its billing address belongs to latin America.
    Real shame on Sony’s service, once again. All other console networks (XBL and Nintendo’s Virtual Console) accept international CCs regardless of origin. Why Sony, why?

    echochrome and Patapon were two games that we were leaning towards purchasing and were “sold” on once we played the demo. Wipeout Pulse was a demo my son played and said “I want this game” Keep the demos coming please kthxbai

    Excellent. I played the demo and was amazed and have been showing it to almost everyone, gamer or not.

    I’m likely to buy both versions simply so I can have it to play at home or when I am out and about.

    I to see some echochrome avatars for the PSN as well (hint, hint).

    ok sony come on, i am not a hater but come on. I dont think many people care about these kind of games. but the xbox has so many more games and features more than us not to mention way better online. the achievements are one of my favorite things on it for a tip add those. I really like sony but you have to get your stuff together. for example call of duty, like best game on both xbox and ps3 , and the ps3 gets the updates and maps way laterrrrr and still have to pay. Its very annoying. And again another amazing game, i heard for Gta4
