To 98, there is no tax charged as this ’store’ is not in Canada, therefore no GST or PST. Post 92 is crediting NAFTA, dunno if that’s valid or not.

To Sony, better late than never, I suppose.

Thanks for fixing this major irritant for we Canadians… sounds like we were just first in line, they’re barking at your doors for similar adjustments elsewhere, what with the US greenback taking a header…

Under the terms of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Sony is prohibited from charging Canadians any taxes, tariffs, or geographically-based surcharges that they aren’t also charging Americans.

Companies like Sony aren’t changing their pricing policies solely to please their customers. It’s very likely that their lawyers have instructed them to do so.

Unfortunately, no such agreement exists between the United States and Australia (or other countries), so Sony has no responsibility to establish fair pricing in those regions (and likely won’t).
