Good luck and enjoy!
Network Update - Version 02.01
We got a message from the EOJ team about an upcoming update that will help fix the concerns that have been surfacing since the SET 2 release. You will see that the team has been paying attention to your concerns and is dedicated to fixing them.
_________
Greetings from the EOJ development team,
This is information regarding the details of the upcoming update. Considering all the feedback from EOJ players, the next update is planned to add new features and to adjust a balance of the game. Currently, the EOJ development team is conducting tests so that the new update can be implemented in the near future. Once the date of the new update has been set, it will be announced.
- An additional feature of Battle Animation’s detail settings
If you own the Set 2 Expansion pack, the next update will add a feature to the Battle Animation’s detail settings (SELECT button during a replay), which is currently implemented to “Show replay” mode, to the duels on Battle Arena mode. This addition allows players to set more detailed Battle Animation settings, such as “OFF ([R2] ON)”, “Ultra rare+”, or “Singles Only”, etc… in Battle Arena mode.
* This update only applies if you own the Set 2 expansion pack download - Errata notes to some of the SET.2 cards
In order to improve the quality of duels, a modification to some of the creatures’ abilities will be made. The modification will improve the game play experience for EOJ players. The adjustments are planned for the following 5 creature cards: Noram Zealot (#121), Aluhja Zealot (#137), Visvar Vaas Zealot (#154), Tolicore Zealot (#169), and Biolith Battleship (#184). More detailed information on the adjustments would be released through Errata notes on our EOJ forums and Official Community Sites as soon as the modifications are finalized. - Additional feature for intentional disconnections in Online mode
An extra measure which disturbs online play will be added. When a player disconnects in any way during an online duel, in addition to the current system that imposes a penalty on the player who intentionally disconnected, the new system will grant Honor and Rank points to their opponent whose duel was disconnected against their will.
Your cooperation to continue operating a sound community is sincerely appreciated. Thank you very much for your participation in online duels and following the rules and manners.
Team EOJ

@Mark Valledor:
1- You really really like to work on friday night do you???
2- On the Playstation forum, one canadian member had a good point that scared me a bit… Your web page was not really canadian friendly. If we didn’t put anything in the state field, I really hope our application won’t be discarded because that field was left blank??? (Put city, province and Canada all in the city field… He did the same, so I guess we are not the only one!
3- Sorry for your server, but wow, that was fun! Very good recovery, I’m sure your IT guys had a good sweat. You owe them pizza and beer for sure! Shall we call the Guiness book of Records?
Mark Valledor replied on May 2, 2008 at 10:09 pm
1 - blog post are addicting
2 - I see your point (we’ll look into fixing this, but pretty confident things will be fine). If not, we’ll do a Canada only make good.
3 - props to Jeff and his team

seriously, we should get some recognition on the blog for getting +1300 comments! I think it would raise awareness of how popular EOJ is for newbies.
I’m pretty confident that I got the cards, since I submitted the info around 5:20, I hope the cards are shipped soon!

Mr.Mark..Question?
We had a Tornado come through where I live in Arkansas, and of course I was in the middle of an online EOJ battle with someone at 3am. The electricity went out in the middle of the game and the power went out (Not to mention we had golf ball size hail, 65 mph winds, broken trees and light poles, and a tornado that just skirted by me.) When I signed back online it showed a “Forced Exit”. I sent an apology to the player I was battling, but I am wondering how that affects my honor points? I can’t find anything in the manual on “Forced Exits”.
THANKS

I’ll ask our producers and the team in Japan. (I’m sure they’ll read this too)
Chuck Lacson replied on May 8, 2008 at 2:03 pm
Hey frostquake- the team read your comment and wanted to reply- With the current system, there is no way to determine if a disconnection was made on purpose or not so your points probably decreased on the ranking board like other disconnects.
Sorry, on the bright side it sounds like the Tornado missed you and you are alive and well.

It’s funny hearing everyone talk about getting free cards when they’re missing a more important point: THANK YOU FOR FIXING THE ZEALOTS!!
I’m on vacation now and can’t play but found a internet cafe and found the good news. Sadly, I think I’m also too late for the free cards.
But I do hope that you can fix these broken cards so that I can play again. It’s really been stressing my game out. Looking forward SOON to these fixes and will lay low on the random games until then, because we all know that people will be using these cards like crazy now since they’re broken.
Thank you for all that you do, Mark.

Mr. Mark..Question?
Does “Blocking” a player met online on my PS3 keep me from playing that player on EOJ? Everytime I come across someone with an all “Zealot” deck, I block them on my PS3.
THANKS
Mark Valledor replied on May 3, 2008 at 6:45 am
I believe blocking deals with the XMB buddy list and them not being able to chat / message you.

I have one idea:
Zealots: dont rest 2 of summon cost for the other zealot, only 1.
and their habilities with a 50% of probrabilities. like dodge
I think it can be a good form for end with zealots.

I would kind of like having habilities at 50%, but simply give them 3 blind sides, and I will be so happy to oblitarate them one by one… No matter what though, I’m sure they will come up with something great.

Really am glad with the upcoming change to disconnects.
I know it`ll suck for you guys who get legit disconnects due to power failures or similar events, but you people really need to stop complaining and see the greater picture here:
For each legit disconnect, there’s probably a hundred false disconnects from people purposely trying to avoid a loss (or to avoid giving you a win).
So really ask yourselves which do you prefer, losing honor once in a while because your electricity went out, or waste dozens of hours playing matches with no finishes because your opponent disconnects before you can place your 5th creature?
179
Kallel00 | May 3rd, 2008 at 7:35 am
Also, Canadian addresses not really a problem.
Enter province abbreviation in state, and enter Postal Code in zip code.
I think it’ll be obvious for them that if an address has a postal code and a canadian province abbreviation, it’s going to be for Canada shipping =p
180
Real Gambler | May 3rd, 2008 at 8:09 am
Kallel00: It’s kind of a reflex for us canadians though… If a web page ask for a state, usually, it’s the abreviation, and quite often, if you try to enter an abreviation that is not a state one, it won’t take it…
Since this was a first 500 entry, many canadians likely didn’t bother to try to see if they could write a province abreviation into that state field, loosing precious seconds that could mean being in or out of the 500…
Anyway, I guess everything will be fine since Mark said so… Worst case, it only means that they will have to read all 500 winners addresses and make sure they are printed correctly… It would just be sad to see some of those precious cards being lost in the mail because the addresses are screwed up…

Hi Mark,
If you can pass up to the developers that a way to reconnect after accidental disconnection would be great! I can’t tell you how many points I’ve lost due to the PS3 signing out on me. If only there was a 2 minute window to sign back in to resume, I think it would make a huge difference to honest gamers. This idea came from someone in the forums, just passing it along.

Whenever I play EOJ online the network disconnects about halfway through the game. I think I’ve only been able to play one full game online, so recently I’ve been sticking to local games.
Does anybody else have this problem? I’m using a wireless connection, and am not sure if it’s MY internet connection or the PSN.
Thanks.

bishopkoko | May 3rd, 2008 at 2:24 pm
A note on disconnects. The PS3 is very moody with online connections for almost everyone I know. It pops me out constantly, thus ending games. It does the same to my biddies all the time. I had to stop playing ranking matches which totally sucked. I have like 15 dishonorables, yet really never did 1 dishonorable act. I finally gave in and called Verizon and had them set up a Datajack in my TV room so I can now hardwire my PS3 to the router and now hope to have no more disconnects. So anyway, I read constantly this is a major problem and that peeps are doing this on purpose and just wanted to say how much I fully believe that in reality this just isn’t the case as much as people think it is.
Anyway, I don’t mind the new rules for disconnects. In fact, I like them and think that they are more then fair. Shame on me for having a bad connection. And my heart truly bleeds for anyone who had to see a close game with me end (Or a blowout if I’m being totally honest). So understand by no means am I whining or asking for a relaxation of the rules. I just think there’s a larger issue here that no one is addressing.
And to everyone, on a personal level, I again apologize here to anyone that saw a fun ranking match against me end prematurely. It really wasn’t my fault and I am totally sure that now that I am hardwired to the router I will be pulling my hair out when a disconnection happens to me.

Mr. Mark…Question?
I’ve contacted the marketing department at Prima Guides asking why they don’t have a detailed guide to EOJ and Cards, but have not heard back as of yet. Are their legal reasons why Prima or other guide publishers have not compiled a detailed EOJ guide book yet?
THANKS

zelmo | May 4th, 2008 at 5:06 am
@frostquake
The prime selling time for a strategy guide is typically just prior to or concurrent with a game release. With EoJ having been out for so long it is highly unlikely we’ll get an official guide from Brady or Prima.
In another post, I offered to do a limited run of books if Sony would grant permission/approve the use of art assets. Content could come from the EoJ community, like lbshooters guide and black cubics card tips.
@Mark, who do I need to contact at Sony to see if this is even possible?
