Ok, but will there be an update related to GTAIV?
And I guess the solution will the same for all of us, so why don’t you just post it somewhere?
There is a lot of people with this problem and it’s kinda stupid that everyone have to call you, instead of just check your site and fix it in a few minutes…

Well, it seems the Firmware came with more then just “improve stability of some PS3 titles” (what does that mean anyway):
Visitors of the Japan-PSN-Store may know Mainichi Issho (the cat-homelike-rss-”game”).
Well, it had an Update today since the Firmware is available and now you can record ingame-Videos, safe them or upload them to youtube – all ingame!
How is that related to firmware? It uses XMB-Menus for the Uploading-Process (and obviously the tech behind the videos).
So “real” Games can use that Feature now, too – if the developers choose to do so.
FYI: Mainichi Issho also had first the ingame-Music-Menu (same as later in Super Stardust) and Screenshots (similar to Resistance, though there is no XMB Menu).

As a suggestion for a simple update I’d love in the future, could Sony please consider adding an option to select categories of content to back up from the System Backup option?
I’d like to back up my save games and music and photos, but not the installed game data or downloaded videos for example (to save space). I should be able to back up just save games without copying each and every one to an external device (which is really tedious).

Great idea, I wanted to be able to batch download items and install in batches from the PSN store without having to select each one for background processing (up to 16) and then wait for those to finish and then do it all over again. I just got a PS3 and I downloaded every single available demo and it took me a few days.

I feel that if we ask Sony to forget XMB and start asking for them to not release it they’ll do it then. Cuz they don’t seem to listen or do the opposite. I’m obviously being sarcastic. However, what p*sses me off is that at GDC those stupid T-shirts “In shirt XMB” or whatever, it was like a big slap in the face to us fans. As we still don’t have it more than 3 months later. This is stupid and frustrating that week after week they don’t release it or say when it’s going to be released.

I hope this update could include a SOUND VOLUME LEVEL REGULATOR or something like that!
It’s really notorious some videos and game previews (when you select a game from the media bar) have volume too low and others too high!!!

Yeah, a master volume knob would help things… I have to crank my receiver up for GTA IV for some reason, but Super Puzzle Fighter II is really, REALLY loud.
By the way, any plans for the US getting some of that YouTube integration I heard is coming to Japan? Sharing gameplay videos is an excellent idea that broadband connections have finally made possible… I really think this would be warmly embraced in the US.

The youtube thing soudns cool! I know that 2.40 shoudl haev the In Game XMB ( i recall someone form Sony saying that i believe. ) So i wont bother saying we want that.. But i do haev a request for a leter firmware. Its relaeted to In game chat, but perhaps it would be possible to be able to chat with AIM users? I have alot of friends who use AIM and i think it woudl be cool being able to text chat with them while i game on. Also i would love being able to send voice messages ( In the XMB and in game. ) That is probably coming anyway as i type this =P Once in agem messages/chat comes, i will be a happy camper. That is the only thing that i think the 360 beats PS3, is communication with friends. This is also a suggestion to help you. Perhaps a deal with Apple is in order for a PS3 version of iTunes? Rather than you develop your own video store, and have to get all the studios to jump on, get iTunes on PS3, you get a HUGE library of movies, TV Shows, AS WELL AS Music and Podcasts. Having the best downloadable selection AND Blu Ray on a console would be tough to pass up!

I noticed the same thing! I have the PS3 hooked up to a converter to my PC monitor and it is connected to my computer for the speakers. Some games clip because of the loud volume coming from the PS3. I checked the volumes for the computer and the converter and have narrowed it down to the PS3′s master volume. For example, while playing a movie trailer or music I can lower the volume with “-2″ in the menu and it sounds fine with no clipping at that volume, but it is not possible to do that for games.

I rushed home last night to update my PS3 hoping this would fix my problem with my ps eye. I download from the store Trial of topoq knowing Sony said all games and films would be region free, but this one isn’t! I got my PS3 from Japan when I was out there not knowing this would become a problem in the future, I only have two hopes the first is Sony sort this problem with the PS eye (jap PS3 + eye + psn game eur or US = not working)the second is that it will not happen to any more games in the future. So this update did not fix my problem.

New SDK features for new games maybe? I’d love to be able to do manual replays and upload them from Motorstorm and such.

I downloaded this firmware. Since then my ps3 heats up faster and I can only play a game for about 20 mins before if freezes up. Then I have to wait for the ps3 to cool down before it can read the disc again. It always freezes after 20 minutes. I have never played grand theft auto IV, so that has nothing to do with this problem. It is either because of the new firmware or just bad luck. This is the first time my ps3 has had a problem.

The backwards compatibility isn’t stellar anyway. Try playing the PS2 title Ratchet and Clank on it. Be ready for slow-downs and a gameplay stopping bug.
The PS2 is just a fancy PDA. I mean it is ARM-based and a fancy video chip. Emulating the thing on a PS3 shouldn’t be this difficult.
Fortunately, I have PS2 now (a gift), and this is a non-issue for me now.
