So I know that something like 80% of all humans on the planet (and some portion of plant-based life forms on Mars) are playing Grand Theft Auto 4 right now…can’t say I blame them as I am currently up to my eyeballs in hot Liberty City awesomeness — but just in case you Warhawk fans didn’t hear about it, the GGL is running a team tournament with some sweet, sweet prizes!
First off, players that register and participate in the tournament will get a special piece of troop equipment: The “GGL Ceremonial Knife”. This replaces your troops current combat blade and *only* players that participate in the tournament will get this new equipment.
Next is the Champion’s Blade — a fierce and dangerous trophy of doom (muhaaahhaaa).
This piece of equipment will *only* be awarded to players on the winning team. And yes, these are sync’d across our global network so when you whip it out, players from around the globe will see it…and fear you! :)
Now it should be noted that these are not uber-weapons…they’re just visual upgrades as it isn’t really right, gameplay balance-wise, for the best players to be able to ravage people even more brutally just because they won the tournament!!! Still…a damn cool prize!
For increased awesomeosity, the GGL is also awarding the winning team with the six-inch Warhawk statues that Gentle Giant Studios is working on. The above pic is a work-in-progress shot.

Tournament registration is already underway and will continue until June 29th. The competition officially starts on May 27th and will run until July 27th. Teams are already forming and playing in the practice ladder.

On a semi-related note, the team and I have been pretty quiet lately…it’s not because we have gone away! We’re just cranking away on our next FREE update for all of our global players, the Warhawk v1.4 update! Stay tuned to the blog for more info.
We’re also going to be pushing some new server setups on the official servers as well. This could happen as early as this week. We’ve been tracking a lot of feedback from our community and we’re going to be making some of the requested changes….yes, we hear you all loud and clear…more LARGE layouts. :)

I just signed up for GGL and joined the ladder–so will I automatically get the door prize blade?
Also, will I be able to buy the statues? I don’t know if I have time to dedicate to win, but it said on the GGL site the Actual Retail Price was like 25 or 50 bucks or something—I’d sure as hell drop that for a Warhawk! I could chase my cat with it!
Not related to the tournament: PLEASE oh PLEASE change the requirement for Warhawk Aerial Gunnery (shoot 5 people down with only machine guns all in one match)–could you please add a secondary thing where, like if you shoot down 200 people with machine guns over time you can get it automatically? I have been trying forever to get that achievement and it is getting irritating (I got 4 in a match once–got number 5 in my cross hairs and a ‘teammate’ killed him, ending the match)
I’m glad to see an update to the servers coming. Is there anyway that we could get some servers dedicated to CTF on the booster packs. Thanks.

It’s probably too late for 1.4, but what I would really like to see in Warhawk is an option where the summary screen after each game is saved on your hard disk so you can go back to see the history of all games you’re in. Sometimes 30 seconds is not enough to stare at your achievement. At least a 100 past games would be nice.

I’m Canadian and realize I won’t be eligible (USA only) to win the tournament prizes but will I still get the custom in-game knife if my team wins on the ladder matches?
I would love a little Warhawk statue but would be happy participating if I just got a cool in game knife for winning.

nice blade, seriously though it looks like sora jumped into the warhawk, took a keychain from there, and attached it to the keyblade, and now looks like that blade…i hope square enix won’t be angry…

In the 1.4 patch, I’d like to see a hovering motorcycle vehicle that would allow 1 soldier to travel around the larger maps very quickly. It should also have some type of weapon (laser or sonic disruptor or whatever your imagination comes up with) to fight against tanks and 4X4s.

I’ve been thinking about making a site for tournaments for PS3/PSN games (with Warhawk being the game that drove me to wanting to do this).
How does someone like me get support like this when it comes to prizes and what not.

The site is kind of confusing, and hard to navigate. I just registered, and joined the Warhawk Game Group, as well as the Team Tournament…is that all I have to do to get the knife? How do they link my PSN ID with my registration to GGL?
AWESOME!!! I was just wondering if the consolation knife goes to everyteam that participates, or just the top 32 teams that make it into the actual tournament.
BTW are you guys working on some new maps? I know it seems a little too early, but my friends and I have been working on one on the PSU forums. It has over 200 replies so far. Just wondering if you guys would ever consider a user submitted map.

I’m still wondering why the GLOBAL Gaming League tournament is restricted to US players only. This game is played by people all over the world who now don’t even get a crack at that sweet knife. That’s pretty unfair in my opinion.
Also, thanks for listening about the large layouts. I hope that “more LARGE layouts” means servers that are only large layouts. Not just more large layouts added to the mix.

Re: Riddle
I don’t have a graphics program capable of doing this since I’m at another computer, but someone should take the HTML color values Dylan used at the bottom (something like #ff00ad or whatever) and convert them to hex characters or convert to another lettering system.
Maybe it means boats! We can already attack from the air (blue for sky), and by land (the brown)… now how about by sea? (the greenish swatch)
This one really is quite a vague puzzle. If you look at the picture and bring your vision depth back they seem to float, which has me guessing it’s either between watercrafts and hovercrafts, but this is a preliminary hypothesis. I also took note of the fact that if you ignore the boxes, which could very well be distractions from the actual clue, it looks as though it were the inside view of a prison cell. If my brainstorm strikes anything substantial I’ll be sure to drag the carcass right back here.
So just to be clear, you have to be in the TOURNAMENT portion of the thing, i.e. one of the teams that gets past the laddered period?
its too bad the controls in the game are completely bogged down, the sixaxis is broken because of the auto leveling, and flying with proflight should only take 1 stick.
not to mention the fact that i cant understand a single thing that is being said over voice chat because the quality sucks, and that i wish to god i had my 30 bucks back so i could go buy sonic, or lege SW or something useful for the system.

How is that a riddle? Ahhhh! Playing mind games I see. Well.. If I had to make a guesstamation. I would say 3 new weapons since all the weapons in the game have a diffrent color coating and the assult rifle is a lighter blue than posted so I would say the darker blue, grey, and darker green are hints to new weapons, and those will be the color coating for them.
BTW, would be awesome for parachutes for the co-pilot so you can bail in mid-air if the captain decided to not let you out or is about to doom you.

A couple of things Mr. Jobe
1) Where is our off topic section? We have scoured all of Eucadia, yet there is absolutly no sign of it ANYWHERE
2) What’s the deal with padders? Ok so you stopped the main form of padding, yet there are still people with 10+ ppm EVERYWHERE. C’mon. Arbiters? Did/do they even really exist?
3) Why did you take our large maps away :( it makes me a sad panda. Medium maps + zones = 30 minute base rapes.
4) Will there really be new awards for the flopship, wrench, biofield, and apc and if so what are the criteria going to be.
5) Finally, will we ever see any sort of “reward” for obtaining medals & badges. I am close to getting my final ones yet it all feels as if it was a waste

The answer to your riddle is:
First square is blue which represents water, so there will be a water level with boats and subs and aircraft carriers.
The second looks like SAND and so I think a Desert Level is coming out with huge dunes and crazy dune buggies.
the Third looks like it will be a JUNGLE type level with loads of foliage to hide in and huge mountains and waterfalls. Maybe even a monkey or two.
Last but not least, I think all three will incorporate JET-PACKS!!! PUH-LEASE!!!!!!
Oh and the tourney, I will try that out also but one question; Will us Canadians and others around the world who take part, will WE get the new knife? That’s all I need to know for now. thanks.

Well maybe just everyone is just thinking about it too hard…but i put the image in photoshop and messed with the Hue, Saturation, and lightness. The complaint about the 3 teams is that there is no red …if you mess with the adjustments, the color all the way on the right is red, the middle one is blue…and the the color all the way on the left is YELLOW! so ill keep messing around..other artifacts and stuff become visible but i doubt their nothing more then the Warhawk team to laugh about
