So I know that something like 80% of all humans on the planet (and some portion of plant-based life forms on Mars) are playing Grand Theft Auto 4 right now…can’t say I blame them as I am currently up to my eyeballs in hot Liberty City awesomeness — but just in case you Warhawk fans didn’t hear about it, the GGL is running a team tournament with some sweet, sweet prizes!
First off, players that register and participate in the tournament will get a special piece of troop equipment: The “GGL Ceremonial Knife”. This replaces your troops current combat blade and *only* players that participate in the tournament will get this new equipment.
Next is the Champion’s Blade — a fierce and dangerous trophy of doom (muhaaahhaaa).
This piece of equipment will *only* be awarded to players on the winning team. And yes, these are sync’d across our global network so when you whip it out, players from around the globe will see it…and fear you! :)
Now it should be noted that these are not uber-weapons…they’re just visual upgrades as it isn’t really right, gameplay balance-wise, for the best players to be able to ravage people even more brutally just because they won the tournament!!! Still…a damn cool prize!
For increased awesomeosity, the GGL is also awarding the winning team with the six-inch Warhawk statues that Gentle Giant Studios is working on. The above pic is a work-in-progress shot.

Tournament registration is already underway and will continue until June 29th. The competition officially starts on May 27th and will run until July 27th. Teams are already forming and playing in the practice ladder.

On a semi-related note, the team and I have been pretty quiet lately…it’s not because we have gone away! We’re just cranking away on our next FREE update for all of our global players, the Warhawk v1.4 update! Stay tuned to the blog for more info.
We’re also going to be pushing some new server setups on the official servers as well. This could happen as early as this week. We’ve been tracking a lot of feedback from our community and we’re going to be making some of the requested changes….yes, we hear you all loud and clear…more LARGE layouts. :)

These “trophies” will be visable regardless on what server you play on, therefore being “international” however only the US can obtain them.
Remember ANYONE can enter the open tournament but only US players can enter the prize tournament surely you should be able to enter both or neither !!!
Also why should I fake having a US account, that’s cheating which ever why you look at it and my ping would probably give me away.
Wouldn’t mind if a reason was given that only the US player could enter but that hasn’t been said has it.

this contest being u.s. exclusive might have something to do with the us having 4 million units sold while all of europe has only 5 million and it would be a hassle to do this tournament in all those countries and plus the U.S.A. is the center of the universe who ever tells you other wise is a liar
Hmm, Wax/Sun/Die, eh? I think the Icarus thing might not be too far off. It could mean either a new vehicle or a new level. A new level might be interesting; perhaps something very very high up or “close to the sun.” Kinda like Destroyed Capital but with “Sky” in every direction or sea/land a LONG way down.
The other idea could be a vehicle not limited by altitude or excessively limited by altitude like a strato-fighter or a low flying bomber.
I know im not the first to notice that the new vehicles in the last two updates were heavy support vehicles, meant to make many men into an incredible fighting force. Perhaps this “Icarus” thing turns one man into an elite unit.
Or perhaps we are all going in the wrong direction altogether. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

And trust me, on the various EU official forums there have been petitions going on for an general EU blog for ages but to no avail. Try inverting the colors, you get a light brown, a blueish purple color, and a shade of pink. There is also an outline around the colors I don’t know if that means anything.

This is the first time that i can remember when Dylan hasnt replied to anyones comments!? I think that it was a mistake taking away the 4v4 capture the flag servers. A lot of people I play with always went on them and they were good fun. Theres just to many people in the 16 players for the layouts (northern bridge, close quaters, standoff, king of the hill and badlands arena). It was much better with 8, I think so anyway… anyone agree?

hmmk guys im not saying ur idiots but u need to go back to 5th grade here… in greek mythology a man named icarus flew to close to the sun with “wax” wings… his father told him not to but he did it anyways… now if he flew to the “sun” with “wax” wings and then died, (which he did) it fits into WAXSUNDIE or WAX/SUN/DIE which fits the description, heres another thing… in the poetry of the myth, it decribes his wings as being a bright dandolion yellow… now dandolion looks very simaler to mustard.. doesnt it? i think i just fit both of the descriptions and solved the mystery! now if i could i would like my two prizes please.. lol.. hey i deserve it for being 16 and having an A+ average =D

@obvious – Heard that theory lots of time. It is either an extra team (yellow?) or a new level.
Although your the first person I have seen that has mentioned the flying bases from the beta (single player mode).
Other theories I have heard is a jungle level and a volcano level. However Dylan did say there won’t be a lava level (which should rule out a volcano) and from the clues I can’t see anything linking to a jungle so your “floating base” theory is the best one so far.
I was leaning more towards two extra teams for the new game modes as OD and BM maps seem set up for 4 teams (especially BM)
The other possibility is a hint to one of the two new game modes ……………. meltdown ?!?

I kinda doubt new teams because if you do think about it for a minute.. they would have to completly re-do EVERY level and put in a brand new base… see were im coming from? but the flying base.. if u have ever played the flying base level in the beta… or u can just even look up “warhawk” on google image search and it shows it a bunch of times… so im kinda guessing there probably gonna put this in… and i also heard lol i cant tell u were bcuz i was just looking around and i was dumb enough not to bookmark it or link it and it said that there might be a possibility of 3 new game modes… dirrecting the three boxes.. apparently in v1.4 they are suppose to color code the game modes to make it easier to find.. which i think is pretty dumb cuz u can just go to filter and put in the game mode.. but this might be a clue saying that there might be three new game modes… u are apsolutly right! but… if u do look back in eith op.bm relase post or v1.3 i forgot which 1… but if u look at the comments some1 posted to dylan if they could get “more” in a bundle for $8 and he replied by saying yes i think this might be a good idea! so i might think there will be a bundle with 2 new places… but im going with the greek mythology myth cuz this really does fit all the parts of the clue… and if i did get it right… i think i just won both of the prizes lol… idk but since i have people aggreeing with em already im gonna try to do the BEST i can to try to crack it… i think i might have already but im gonna do the best i can… promise!
I agree with what you are saying but as I stated OD and BM (largest maps) are set up for 4 teams (the other 5 maps aren’t) so I agree with you in that sense but it will totally depend on what the new game modes are?
I didn’t play the beta but I have watched the trailer and seen scene shots for the “floating bases”. Only problem is where will the ground combat fit in? they will have to be big flying bases to get the use of the APC on them.
(Not knocking your theory …………. like I said before it the most realistic one i’ve heard so far !!!)

well thankyou 129, but i think it will be, most likely because this is what they did in the beta, it was almost like an aircraft carrier that flys… almost like, like i said “flying bases” so everyone has a plane mkay? but your able to land on the other carrier… no veichals alowd.. but if this is so true… i think the logic of this would include to the next level as having naval activity.. seing how we have aviation/naval in this one lol weird combonation but it works.. but thank you everyone for aggreeing with me… Now the important news…

If you take the image to photobucket (an html photo editing system) http:/www.photobucket.com, and do what the guy on flicker said, “turn the saturuation all the way to 100% and the hue to 180, it does turn to what he said, but you’ll notice thats not eucadian blue like he said. It may be new teams, i dont know… no one does…

I’m surprised nobody is thinking jet pack. Maybe that’s the connection to Icarus. Fly to high with your jet pack and die when you don’t have enough fuel to land safely.
If you google Icarus the first result says, Giant bombs on giant rockets. There is also an asteroid named Icarus. Maybe they will put a new map on an asteroid?

Dylan, I woke up today and I checked my profile. What do I see, I see nothing but zeros. I guess my stats were wiped? But why? I never stat pad or anything because I thought THIS might happen. I have played the game since it first came out. Is there a way to get my 120000 points back? If not I guess I am done with warhawk.
Check out “Tales of the Rampant Coyote” from December 19, 2006. I can’t take credit for this, because of the work done by some of my clan members (Topodisc and Batty), but it is now pretty clear that the Icarus reference is in fact the mothership from which the Warhawks are launched, Flying aircraft carriers FTW!

Dylan a long time I ACIDDENTALY got on to a stat pading server with the fag glithch before it got fixed, and even though i didnt stat pad on it the next day all my stats became 0 the next day is there a way to get my thousnds of points back.
