  • Where are the PS1 games? Why is it so difficult and time consuming to release them anyway?

  • Its so embarrassing that even after a year and a half after the system’s launch WE STILL HAVE NO PSN CARDS.

And if anyone wants to argue that they’re available – show me at any valid online retailer.

Get your sh1t straight Sony. This is almost as disgraceful as not having in-game XMB.

  • @51

Well you see the PS1 games are already made and everything but uploading them onto their servers is just too time consuming and not worth the effort.

Considering that these games are making $0 today on store shelves and would probably generate some more income on the store, It only makes sense why SOny wouldnt bother releasing on the PSN.

  • @51

It’s not time consuming. SCEJ has hundreds of PS1 games available. SCEE is just lazy and stupid, that’s all.

  • Bender Rodriguez

Slimer of #50 as people like to do. Why would they put PS2 games up on the store when you just go out and buy them from Gamestop or what not?

Plus from my understanding 40 gig people can’t play them anyway. Also they’ve never charged for themes. I don’t get why you say that. Unless you mean something different.

  • SWEET I can play HAZE insted. Hope we can see a MGS4 DEMO SOON!!!!

  • o well, ill spend my money somewhere else, obviously whoever is in charge at sony is trying very hard not to want my money

  • Bioshock on PS3!!!!!! Whooooooo!!!!!

  • When do we get Bionic Commando: Rearmed? They had said they were shooting for a “May” release. And next week is the last update for May. Could it be next week? Or do we get squat?

  • i normally dont complain but
Whats the point in this store update.
Normally i would be happy with the videos atleast but, the videos are old and ive seen them already.
And whats the deal with no demo for ps3.
I also want psn cards. you guys keep stating they are already released but i cant buy a single one online.
My country isnt on the list so i cant use visa so the least they can do is put enough psn cards out there so i can buy those online and use them

  • Ah, the weekly whine session. I really dig all you grade-schoolers with your over inflated sense of entitlement.

  • I haven’t downloaded anything in weeks. Suppose I’ll go out tonight and get Echochrome. I know someone in Sony’s camp said a month or two ago that they are going to be adding many more PS2/PS1 games but I wonder what kind of time frame they’re looking at. One PS1 game every couple months is pretty weak.

  • Why does SCEA contunue to forget about PS1 Classics and where the bleep is Dark Mist. There are so many games that SCEA is not releasing, but both SCEE and SCEJ are continually putting out Classics and original games weekly on their PSN store, so again I ask why is SCEA ALWAYS DROPPING THE BALL ON PS1 CLASSICS AND GETTING AMERICAN GAMERS DARK MIST??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

    • Both of your questions were answered last week.
Please feel free to re-read the comments in red for answers to your questions.
      Hope this helps!

  • Horrible just terrible come on sony give us

a reason to login psn and download great

    content this is not acceptable.

  • why didn’t just say no downloads this week

instead of just putting up garbage like this

i mean seriously get your company right sony.

  • psn or psg playstation garbage downloads!

  • Boo-hoo Buri.

    Boo-frickin-hoo.

  • Can we get a red response as to the PSN cards? Are they really out? If so why didn’t it get posted here for us long time PS3 owners who are dying for D/L content but can’t get it through to your crappy registration system which NEVER accepted my TWO credit cards.

  • Um…….. Sony forgot to post about the new PS3 PSN game called CON, you play a CON man in a jail fighting for his life to stay alive, IE good for you GTA5 fanboys to tide you over till GTA5 is fixed by RockStar.

    • It seems as if you\’re a little confused, so to clarify for anyone else who might be reading this:

      The Con vs. The Club
\”The Con\” is a 3D brawler for the PSP that is now available. (see the posted list above for description)
\”The Club\” is a PS3 game with levels that have you running through them, trying to stay alive. Demo currently available on the PLAYSTATION Store.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue vs. Grand Theft Auto IV
\”Gran Turismo 5 Prologue\” and its upcoming game are often referred to in short as \”GT5P\” and \”GT5\”.
\”Grand Theft Auto IV\” is the latest in the popular GTA series, made by RockStar Games.

If neither of these things were what you were talking about, then I\’m sorry I couldn\’t help clarify more.

  • @Noel:

I just read last weeks update comments, and your replies to them. And I just wanted to say that you rock. Most people seem to have a very…intense opinion of things regarding updates. And what they think SHOULD be included in those updates. lol

I just wanted to say that I think you’re doing an awesome job. And i’m impressed at how diligent you are at answering (and correcting) peoples posts on this blog. Keep up the good work!

…and please don’t think I was being a snot with my comment above about Bionic Commando: Rearmed. lol

    • People have fond memories of playing classic PlayStation One games, and because of that, people want to re-play them again on their PLAYSTATION 3\’s and PSP systems.
It\’s totally understandable, and not something we\’re ignoring, neglecting, or \”just being lazy\” about, regardless of how it can seem.

As for Bionic Commando: ReArmed, I\’m just as excited for it as you, especially knowing that it\’s co-op AND features Remote Play.

For those of you without PSPs and who are a \”little\” bothered by the lack of PS3 demos this week, we still have plenty of FREE content for you (Themes and Videos) as well as an amazing soundtrack for PixelJunk Monsters for only $2.99.

Just remember that the next update is only a week away if you\’re still unsatisfied!

  • So, I re-read the old mod-posts about PS1 Classics taking time and quite frankly, that’s a rather weak excuse set. For example, Wipeout XL is already in English, SCEA already had it rated, and you are in direct contact with the rights holders since they are making Wipeout HD and Wipeout PS3 (TM). The fact that the game was already released in the US and that you have the first Wipeout on PSN implies that there is no reason to not release this title.

So that’s just one example of a title that should have been released months ago. What is the deal? With a user base of 12 million, I’d wager at least 50,000 people would buy that title for 6 bucks, with Sony getting 50% that is $150,000. So just be straight with us, are PS1 titles not profitable enough for the US market? Do they not sell well enough to merit the investment? Just give us a straight answer and say either “yes lots of PS1 titles are coming starting “x,” or say “we don’t want to release PS1 titles because it isn’t cost effective.

Whatever you do, just stop jerking your customers around. This incessant whining each week should have merited a straightforward response from SCEA weeks ago. How many more weeks are your blogs going to be inundated with fan requests for PS1 titles that go unanswered? Does that sound like a good business model for increasing customer loyalty to you?

    • Since more explanation and clarification are requested…
Owning the rights to the code is not always the same thing as being able to do whatever you want with it.
Many games, such as Wipeout XL, use licensed music. \”Licensed\” means that it is only available to use for a limited amount of time.
As such, many older games require a longer amount of time to re-attain the required permissions, contracts, etc.

If that doesn\’t suffice, I\’d recommend looking in to legal sites and looking up licensing policies and contracts. There are a lot of good sites out there with great information for you. Glad to have helped!

  • finally wen we thought you guys knew what kind of updates we like you revert back to the bad ones

  • Back in March Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen for PS1 showed up on the ESRB list for PS3/PSP but days later it disappeared. Is this still slated for our PSN or was it yanked for some reason?

  • Any news on Wipeout HD? That’s what I’m really looking forward too and hoping they release it sometime before MGS4 so I don’t get caught deciding between two games or just neglecting one.

*Crosses fingers and hopes for next week*

  • where the hell is Dark Mist???!?!?!?!?!??! I saw last week post which said which is not planned for US/Canada PSN. Why the heck isn’t this game coming out in the US store?!??!?!?! THe game is already in full english along with the expension.

  • Noel we only get frustrated because we want to give you our monies for PSOne classics :)

Seriously, I’ll pretty much buy almost any PSOne classic you guys release thanks to PSP compatability.

  • Another week where I get to keep my money this makes week 7-8.

  • Wow, i don’t know how you guys put up with some of the comments posted on this blog. People can be really selfish and rude sometimes.

And they keep forgetting PSN is free.

I’m just waiting for someone to announce the 2.4 firmware :)

  • @78,

PSN might be free but without content that pleases the consumer what good is it. Good content = more money for them, it’s a win win situation.

  • worst store update EVER! :(

  • How about some more LBP gameplay video..Anything from last week in SF would be nice.

  • Whoa, no demos?

  • @ Noel

Simply LOL. You know the problem with the store however, is that next week, we’re all probably are looking at the same situation, More videos, no content, thus making your comment “Just remember that the next update is only a week away if you’re still unsatisfied!” that much more irrelevant. Sure there are tons of videos content posted, but I didn’t buy my PS3 to watch video/interviews on games, but to play those games, as well as have PS1 games (I’ve read your comment from last week, and I’m not impressed “Typical” PR Response, don’t get me wrong I understand that these things actually do occur, however simply you can not get me to believe that the ESRB takes forever to rate a game, while there aren’t many games in queue in the first place, not to mention the games that have already been rated like Suikoden I that still have yet to make it to the store. Also games that have been released in the US, wouldn’t need to be changed as far as language. Simply there is some many flaws in what you state. I’m pretty sure SCEJ works under the same rules as SCEA as far as PSN is concerned, yet they have more PSOne titles and constantly growing. Honestly you can sit there and say that its due for these reason.) and other titles from PSN. The last game we recieved was Echochrome and before that Rocketmen. The rate of how long “Original” games are release has also declined, before we use to get one maybe a month or two, now its like 4 or 5 months before a new “Original” title is released, however this is Sony’s idea, as we constantly have Jack Tretton and John Hight saying we’re into “Original” content as opposed to Arcade Remix, which is fine, however clearly you guys haven’t met a the demand for them, and so Arcade Remix, should be something that Sony should look into. Original Content is great, however apparently there isn’t enough of it. I don’t understand the though anyway, as Sony seems to feel that Original Content and Arcade Remixes can’t co-exist. Everything seems to be an excuse. When is Sony going to take responsibility? Please take note of that last question.

  • @79

Thank you!!! The whole PSN is free is total garbage. I understand that Sony has to pay for servers and such, however they seemingly don’t want to recooperate loses, as they aren’t putting the content out there. They want Original Content, well they want to take risk, surely Arcade Remixes is not the most original thing on Earth however there is a demand for it, as there are many driving factors for it, one of them being that it is new content for some, others are driven by nostalgia, which is not a bad thing at all, while others like having the content in all formats, either way is that its money for Sony in other ventures. It seems that Sony doesn’t like Money as a business, because they are ignoring what’s working for other business like XBLA and VC for Nintendo. Hell the best Example is Nintendo’s Wii. They not only help relive timeless classic via their Virtual Console system, they also have WiiWare, which allows for new and inventive titles, Simply showing that the demand for both Original and Remixes are there, and that both can co exist, the problem is Sony is ignoring it (Yes I state ignoring it, because if your CEO comes to the blog and post that PSN will not see many Classic Remakes and titles, then apparently it is a view that is not trying to be shown by Sony), which again leads back into my question, when is Sony going to take responsibility, say look this what we planned, it didn’t work and now we going for a new outlook and stop making excuse that us consumers know is senseless? That’s basically what it comes down too. Sorry if its too critical but its either that, or live in La La Land and constantly look the other way when some bad happens, can’t do that though sorry. I knew this would be a problem, sure we got an update Store interface, yet its the same old Sony. No content, and a very little interaction, and when we do get it, its usually a defensive post trying to explain “What had happpen was …” as opposed to a true outlook and where we as a PSN Users and Sony are headed.

  • What a crappy update…. Where’s Street Fighter II HD, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Wipeout HD, new level for Pain?

So crappy, I’m not sure what I would chose between a kick in the butt or this update…. I guess I would take the kick.

Come on guys enough already of Rock band update!!! I know people that are crazy about RB, but they would never buy all the songs you are sell.

Could you please do updates that are not just RB-GH updates???

BTW, most of the video you are placing in the store are avalible on the net a couple of days before the RB-GH updates.

    Anyways…

  • Nothing of interest this week for me.
    oh well.
    pixel junk = kids game
    LBP = kids game
Hot shots golf = kids game
    etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
Hmmm, maybe Im just getting old.

  • We wait a week and get nothing, while the Wii and the 360 always seem to get a ton of content. Couldn’t you guys pick a better PSP game to put up? How about some RPGs?

  • @86,
You really see LittleBigPlanet as a kid’s game? Really? I think you’re judging a book by its cover there…

  • WingZeroCustom001

Love how they release PSP demos on the PS3 store instead of um oh I don’t know…..PS3 games….jackasses….

  • Can I download content from my Mac yet? can i manage my psp yet?

  • I would like to see more content in Store Updates.

PS – If you make us wait months for a firmware update, make it good.

  • thanks for the update like always, hope we get some news about Dark Mist on the NA Playstation Store.

  • PJM is not a kids game. Way to judge a book by its cover!

Noel, you rock. Get back online sometime soon. We can pwn in GTAIV again like you pwned Gunwing

  • MALURAQ! GO WHORE YOUR BLOG SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

  • whiterchocolate

is there anyway we can like ask for content like what all ps1 games they put out or anything like that like maybe everyone make alist and then you guys pic the most popular games from the lists and really work hard at getting them is there anything i can do to help please moderator please tell me

  • @Noel

Your answers are not helpful. Are the games rated already by the ESRB ready to be uploaded, or are they not? If they are, why aren’t you guys uploading them? Why does it feel like week after week you guys go so far out of your way to make it clear you do not want our money?

Let me make this clear, we want to send you money for downloadable games, good ones, not shareware garbage like HVB, Pain, or Go Sports. Originality is nice, but quality should trump all, and in terms of quality, these games are a laughably poor value at any asking price. I wouldn’t download them for free, in fact. Barely managing one PSone classic every two months is pathetic, two decent PSN games a year is just sad.

No more crap games, no more PR statement excuses. Telling us you’re aware of what we want, and saying “we’re working on it!” isn’t good enough, especially from Sony, the company that has made that equivalent to saying, “check back with us next year”. You guys are running an extremely poor operation by any standard, straighten up.

  • I guess this is the Best they could do for us this week. Sure seems like their Best sucks.

  • I’ll also note it seems likely I will be going into my sixth month of 2008 not buying anything from the online store.

  • whiterchocolate

now i have this idea stuck in my head of a section of the store were everyone can vote on content like what demos we would really like to see ps1 games, what types of original games, wallpaper, all that fun stuff and it would probably save them alot of money on market research i say let the masses speak anyone else think this is a good idea? anyone know anyone i could email or talk to about this ?

  • I don’t understand their excuse. Why is it so hard to release a PS1 game when with the Wii’s VC you get multiple releases for different consoles and from different publishers.

Maybe if Sony actually tried to work with third parties, we would at least get something.
