Network Update – Version 02.01
We got a message from the EOJ team about an upcoming update that will help fix the concerns that have been surfacing since the SET 2 release. You will see that the team has been paying attention to your concerns and is dedicated to fixing them.
_________
Greetings from the EOJ development team,
This is information regarding the details of the upcoming update. Considering all the feedback from EOJ players, the next update is planned to add new features and to adjust a balance of the game. Currently, the EOJ development team is conducting tests so that the new update can be implemented in the near future. Once the date of the new update has been set, it will be announced.
- An additional feature of Battle Animation’s detail settings
If you own the Set 2 Expansion pack, the next update will add a feature to the Battle Animation’s detail settings (SELECT button during a replay), which is currently implemented to “Show replay” mode, to the duels on Battle Arena mode. This addition allows players to set more detailed Battle Animation settings, such as “OFF ([R2] ON)”, “Ultra rare+”, or “Singles Only”, etc… in Battle Arena mode.
* This update only applies if you own the Set 2 expansion pack download - Errata notes to some of the SET.2 cards
In order to improve the quality of duels, a modification to some of the creatures’ abilities will be made. The modification will improve the game play experience for EOJ players. The adjustments are planned for the following 5 creature cards: Noram Zealot (#121), Aluhja Zealot (#137), Visvar Vaas Zealot (#154), Tolicore Zealot (#169), and Biolith Battleship (#184). More detailed information on the adjustments would be released through Errata notes on our EOJ forums and Official Community Sites as soon as the modifications are finalized. - Additional feature for intentional disconnections in Online mode
An extra measure which disturbs online play will be added. When a player disconnects in any way during an online duel, in addition to the current system that imposes a penalty on the player who intentionally disconnected, the new system will grant Honor and Rank points to their opponent whose duel was disconnected against their will.
Your cooperation to continue operating a sound community is sincerely appreciated. Thank you very much for your participation in online duels and following the rules and manners.
Team EOJ

I guess if they do decide to email confirmations, the ppl that get them should post and we should do some kind of running count so that we could get a rough idea of where we stand

Is there any way we can get a downlaod to the soundtrack for the game?
Also I’d like to be able to see a larger version of the pic at the end of the blog. flickr keeps telling me it’s set to private.

I’ll be disappointed that people who don’t play EOJ, end up getting the free promo cards. I’ll only be happy if they end up buying the game when they receive them, But I wonder what the chances of that will be.

In the future I feel a far better way to give away a set number of promo cards, that a person PSN account to be taken into account…. This would lessen E-bay vultures, and cards could be given based on total “ranked” game played or “Honor”.
These people are the backbone of the game a deserve the first shot at promos….PLUS the sign can be a period of days and people can take their time to sign-up and hope the get the cards based on their “Honor”…. Can you imagine the online spike in gameplay for those trying to earn “Honor” to make the promo card cut by a said date.

Azmodeus Lore | May 6th, 2008 at 4:29 am
Some manner of confermation would be awsome. I think I made the cut, but, like everyone else encountered real issues with the server. some notification would be nice, but, great give-away regardless. Any promo card is a cool promo card.

Raideen | May 6th, 2008 at 11:03 am
@216 – I play EoJ, but only offline with my friends. The system you’re suggesting would ignore players such as myself. Obviously it is very difficult to make a give-away such as this “fair” to everyone, but it is true that the way this one went was probably not the most “fair” way to go. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing alot of these promo cards on eBay. Nevertheless, thank you Sony for the give-away, and thank you for creating a great game in EoJ!

I hate playing against these zealot cards… there should be like hero cards only one to a hand…..there taking the fun out of playing a good solid deck
221
smutdog | May 6th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Why do you not play online Raideen?
either way, I still think my idea is fair, as online play keeps a true account of who “REALLY” plays this game, I just feel you are a unique case in that you play and love the game but don’t do so online.
I would guess as high as 95% of the people playing, play online….
Ohhhh yea…. and let me thank SONY for creating a game that I spend tons of $$$ on, only to get screwed around every corner…. Thank you SONY for taking my money the amount I have spent would have afforded me a second PS3, and I know I’m not alone here, I do understand it’s my choice to spend said money, my point is “what do we really need to thank
SONY for?” The various players and online communities that have been created are not SONY’s doing, we the player have sold and marketed this game, SONY has done very little, now I do see them starting to change that, but it because of rabid fans crashing blog’s and the various user created web-sites that give SONY the good sense to put a little more effort into EOJ… They better keep stepping it up as the web-cam/trading card game isn’t nearly as hard to pull off as SONY would make it seem, once another company realizes this, copycat games will be made. We are the true backbone of this game and have been treated pretty poorly, especially here in North America. I fail to see how we’ve been rewarded, infact I’m more dissapointed than ever, not that it will make me stop playing my favorite game, and SONY know’s that and that’s why they simply don’t care…

i only play off line. my wife and I just don’t like the online.
223
Raideen | May 6th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
@smutdog – I like the player interaction I get by playing with my friends offline. It’s just something that can’t be replicated online. Of course, I have to wait until my friends have free time to come over, but I have plenty of other games to play while I wait.
224
lostmongoose | May 6th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
@221 Might wanna try NOT pulling statistics out of your ass. I’m willing to bet that there’s a sizable portion of people playing this offline, simply because they’ve been playing CCGs for a long time and find that much more satisfying than playing with random strangers they’ll never meet. Why should sony reward you? For what?
Fansites and communities pop up around every CCG ever made without ever having input or official endorsement by the company that made them. How is EoJ any different or special in that regard? The reward for willingly forking over fistfuls of cash is support in the form of new expansions and features in the software. Your post reeks of arrogance and a severe superiority complex. Get over yourself and give Sony/WotC a chance. The game hasn’t even been out a year yet.
For everyone who’s complaining about non-players possibly getting these too: Do you know what promotional materials, in this case promo cards, are for? They’re handed out at trade shows and conventions to anyone who wanders by for the simple reason of product awareness and to maybe, just maybe, grab new customers and potential players who might otherwise have never bought into it or tried it. They’ve never been about preaching to the choir or rewarding anyone. The abbreviation ‘promo’ should have been a big clue, but I guess a lot of people miss that. Who knew?
225
benjiedude | May 6th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
I also play EOJ offline-only. For one I suck at it and two, there’s too much cheating going on from what I read. Early disconnects which have now been “fixed” but I’ll be damned if I’m gonna get a poor stat because my PS3 loses connection to the internet because of some random quirk with it’s wifi. So smut, just relax because you really do sound bitter and a lot of people like me waited and refreshed for almost an hour to get those cards just like you and not all of us play online.

Raideen | May 6th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
@224 – “For everyone who’s complaining about non-players possibly getting these too: Do you know what promotional materials, in this case promo cards, are for?”
Very true, you make a good point. I guess I hadn’t thought about it that way.

smutdog | May 6th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Raideen – Fair enough if you can work in other games…. this is the first TCG game I have ever played and it took me by complete surprise, I basically bought the game so I could get the Eye and figure might as well try it out. I was thinking it would be fun for me and my nephew who is into yugio…. but now it is rare for me to play anything but EOJ, so I still feel I’m making my point about those who really play and care about the game and those who are casual fans.
LostMongoose…I fail to see how I have a superiority complex, this “Promotion” was billed as a way to make up for the delay of set 2, if they were given away at a trade show then I would agree with your point. Plus I took off work so I would ensure getting the cards, only to hear that it was being held off for those who were at work, and meaning spoke of how we all work ar various times, needless to say this promotion didn’t do what it was set out to, but I don’t feel I’m any better than anyone, butI do feel the are 500 players out there that have logged as much time with this game if not more and do feel those player are the most deserving of this promotion.
Benjiedude – Bitter is an understatement
to how I feel, I’m plenty relaxed though, but I’m sure to let a company/game that I support know my feeling good or bad, this just happens to be a reaction to the bad, my reaction to something good is just as passionate.
These are my opinions and are meant for Sony, but I will react to people critizing me for sharing them, things are always up for debate and I’m more than willing to listen to other people’s takes on things, but I see no reason to have people judge me as being some kind of jerk, because I’m showing my displeasure of this promotion, Sure I’m competative, but I take my losses and give those who beat me prop’s for doing so, I’m not a sore loser, nor do I think I’m better than anyone here, but feel the way the promotion was run didn’t accomplish what it was set out to do.
I don’t feel I have said anything ugly to anyone here, and feel anyone making assumptions as to who I am is just wrong.

benjiedude | May 6th, 2008 at 2:38 pm
To think if you end up getting the cards…I’m sure you’ll keep fighting the fight for all those online, hardcore, EOJ loyalists like yourself who “really” deserve the promo cards and didn’t get them. Wait no…actually I think you’ll just enjoy your cards and keep quiet from that point on. LOL. Passion is good but arrogance is not.
229
lostmongoose | May 6th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
Ok. They’re not using it as traditional promotional material. It was meant as an apology for delaying Set2. So then you’ll get people saying “Huh? What’s so great about this game that Sony would apologize in such a manner for a small delay?” those people might then go out, buy the game (there was a week between the announcement and the actual link), and say “Hey this IS pretty cool, maybe I’ll try and get those promos too.” Now in this scenario, you have a new player who sees a chance to get some decent cards for free who hasn’t been playing long.
Why shouldn’t that person have just as much chance as you at getting them? Maybe this player hasn’t played against a real opponent yet, only the CPU. How are they any less entitled. So they have no online stats yet. Why are you more deserving again? Just because you’ve been playing longer and shelled out more cash, doesn’t make you more important than any other player.
This was meant as an apology on the delay to ALL players and, in all reality, *potential* player who might have been on the fence about buying after lurking community sites watching debates about current cards and upcoming cards that might change the current game. This wasn’t just for a subset of the community who plays online all the time and has great stats to go with it.
In the end it still comes down to the simple fact that sony owes you nothing and they didn’t even have to do this much.

smutdog | May 6th, 2008 at 3:04 pm
LostMongoose – your point is taken, your right, they didn’t even have to do that.
I’m done being upset about this…
Benjie – Even if I get these cards I still stand by what I have said, I’m not just out for myself, The folks in the forums here @ playstation and nine fields and LBshooters
know that, and thats enough for me.

Raideen | May 6th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
@smutdog – Just because I play other games too, doesn’t mean I enjoy EoJ any less than you do. I would not consider myself a “casual fan” of EoJ. I’ve probably spent just as much money (I have the entire set 1, and a few cards short of the entire set 2) and time as anyone else on the game, just not online. Does that mean I don’t “really play and care about the game”?

Personally, I think it would be great if there were some way of rewarding hardcore gamers, as well as more promotions for newcomers, but if the only way to track the “hardcoreness” of a player is through online, I really don’t see how this would be fair, since many of us don’t play online (due to being kicked off, lack of face-to-face contact, loading issues, cheating, skill equality, etc.)
I sincerly hope Mark has been reading these last few posts, and perhaps has a better understanding on gamer’s stances (and if you are reading this, Mark, please update us on the results!!!). But let’s not get too carried away, and remember that these are FREE promo cards, and I believe that complaining is completely unwarranted, seeing as the delay was a relatively minor one.
@smutdog- even though my viewpoint differs from yours, I’d like to say that you have gained my respect for listening and accepting others thoughts, unlike some other users who post on the blog

I can say it’s appciated, I been kinda made to feel, like poo today because of all this, I’d love to blame others, btu really I shouldn’t get so upset…. What started off as constructive for me as far as how to reward hard-core fans of the game got very personally and I made far tooo many assumptions on others, I just want to enjoy the game….. looking past promo cards…. I thinking the bigger problem for me was having to play other outside North America who had set while we could even use it even if we ordered set from over seas…. either way I love the game but hate how certain things are handled, and really just want that to improve in the future, I love this game and am very competative, but I hate that some see me as thinking im better than others, I just really want those who really care about the promo to get the cards, and ebay vultures not to….. if there were 500 people who got in before me that are fans regardless of their level…. My original intent was to be constructive and maybe have the online “Honor” system truly mean something. My short fuss got me in trouble, but I know who and what im about as do many others, there are others out there even more deserving than me for these promos in my eyes (dukkhah, Real Gambler, GonzoBob, Lgass to name a few) but I assumed alot because I truly know how much i care, bt it was really overshadowed with anger and finger pointing on my part after taking what I considered some harsh words to what I considered a debatable topic, I was wrong with many thing (Online vs. Offline commintment, etc.)
and just hope for no more delay and more careful planning when set 3 is done (i.e. Zealots)
So to the smartguwiththefro thanks for making me feel better and human again…. time to get online to play some EOJ

Please, please, please… the list … I’m anxious to know if I made it!
If the list isn’t ready, how about an estimate of when the list might be ready? The proverbial date-for-a-date.
The waiting for confirmation is almost an extended repeat of the wait on Friday for when the link would be posted. I know, its my weakness – I have no patience. :o)
Or, how about just a reason for the delay:
1. “Sorry for the delay, we have some logistics to workout to make sure we have an accurate list without duplicates.”
2. “Sorry for the delay, the coder from India to which we outsourced our submission form totally forgot to implement the backend db to store the submissions. We are trying to retrieve the lost data from the Dept of Homeland Security’s internet surveillance database. Fortunately George W. is an EOJ fan and wants his promo cards, so he’s pulling some strings for us.”
3. “Sorry for the delay, but we are checking with our manufacturer to try to get more promo cards printed. We appreciate the EOJ fan response and would like to give cards to all submitters, but we can’t really communicate that until its finalized. I’m sure you all understand that if we announced we might do this and then it fell through, the firestorm would be worse than a Sciondar Inferno. So you didn’t just read this.”
I’m just trying to add some levity to the comments for others who are checking back hourly for an update :).
In all seriousness, I love the PS Blog, and I’m sure you will respond as soon as you can, and any result is fair. I don’t think any of us is entitled to anything. We all had equal opportunity to try to submit.

hello, im new to to this Blog but been a fan of EOJ and been a player some offline since i bought the game when it came out. I am a little dissapointed that i had to pay extra for the set 2 updat but i guess it’s better than buying a whole other game to play the set 2 cards. I would like the promo cards aswell for my personal collection but won’t be upset if i don’t get them. I plan to start playing online in the next few days and could only hope to play some nice honest players like you guys.
