The premier episode includes in-depth exclusive and never-before released content on upcoming PlayStation titles such as SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Secret Agent Clank, Soul Calibur 4 and Afro Samurai, as well as the latest Blu-ray Disc trailers, an exclusive SOCOM: Confrontation theme with an invitation to the SOCOM: Confrontation beta, art galleries and other surprises. We also know that many of you are big fans of Veronica Belmont, the widely-known host of numerous online video programs and podcasts and an avid gamer, so we’ve chosen her to be your host.
To get Qore, simply log onto PSN and go to the PLAYSTATION Store, as you would purchase any other form of downloadable content. Once the single Episode or annual subscription is purchased, that month’s episode will be downloaded under the “Game” heading on the Cross Media Bar (XMB). Users who purchase the “Qore Annual Subscription” will notice only that month’s episode is available to download. The following month, the new episode will automatically appear in your download list. The introductory price for Qore is $2.99 for a single episode and $24.99 for an annual subscription of 13 episodes, using your PLAYSTATION Network wallet.
As Peter Dille mentioned in a previous PLAYSTATION Network post, the broader service and community initiatives launching on the PLAYSTATION Network this year such as Qore, PlayStation Home and the Video Download Service are all evidence of our dedication to delivering an all-encompassing entertainment experience for PS fans. Qore is the first in a series of planned original programming specifically created for the PLAYSTATION Network community and we hope you enjoy it.

I read the first 70 comments then couldn’t be quiet anymore. I have to rant. Doesn’t anyone read? It’s a service similar to a magazine. You are not forced to buy it. Just like the old OPM it will have exclusive demos that the PSN will not have. Am I right so far? And you paid for the magazine. What’s the difference here…it’s virtual. There are still going to be demos on the PSN for free, just not the same ones. I think it’s reasonable to charge for what is similar to a virtual mag. I’m cool with it. Looks interesting.
Come on people, Sony give us lots of things that are free, unlike other systems which even charge for Themes. Isn’t it great that the PSN is free? WiFi is free. What more do you want. You are not being forced to buy anything you don’t want to. There are some out there who think everything needs to be free but what they don’t realize or care about is there are people who work hard to bring you this kind of stuff. Should they work for free? Would you? Quit whining. If you don’t want to pay for it don’t. Just don’t expect everything to be handed to you.
I would like to add my voice to the suggestion that the first issue be free just so everyone sees how cool it is.

This is my first post, and am saying this, “Qore” service is garbage. PSN has most of this kind of stuff right now for free, but with, “Qore” they are going to package it up in a new glitzy interface claiming “extra exclusive content” as well as Ad’s!!! Sorry this is the worst idea ever, and it sounds like a scam. I will make sure my family and friends avoid this service if it comes out as currently presented.
I’ve been a huge promoter of how Sony has been handling PSN to this point, but this implementation of “Qore” sounds more like a Microsoft idea than a PSN one. If you are going to add this service, make it free other wise I hope it dies a quick and painful death. (with out the pain they won’t know not to do try it again)

You are completely out of your damn mind if oyu think we should stand in line and give sony even more money than we already have for this system. It is completley useless as a games machine. Decent blu-ray player, lousy upscaler, lousy ps1 and ps2 support because of the lovely black bars on both sides of my 52 in 1080p tv, lousy psn updates, lousy psn store updates, lousy psone selection for the u.s. and lousy 3rd party exclusives.
Sounds well worth the 600 I paid for it, lemme tell ya. I’m not paying 3 bucks just to download “free” demos. Sorry, tulip.

I think $3 is a fair price. Considering that the PSN is a free service, I don’t mind paying $3 a month to see some of the content. When you think about some video game magazines costs over $5 and even $6 a month, $3 is ok.
What I don’t understand is why people is making a big deal over a online magazine service that cost $3 a month or $25 a year? It is not like the PSN is going to be subject to monthly costs and that. Qore is a optional service.

@559 Magazines have far higher maintenance costs then virtual content. The problem is that the majority of the stuff mentioned you will pay for is stuff that is currently free. Glitz doesn’t make the content any more valuable especialy if they are putting advertizing in there. If you payed for it and it DIDN’T have advertising, but it was offered with advertizing for free, then that would be better, but as we currently get this stuff with out glitz or advertizing for free, why should we suddenly have to start paying for it when it’s always been promoted as a free service?
The main page showing the Socom guy says the game is 32 vs 32. Its only 16 vs 16. Thats a big typo for the main page of Qore, especially the kickoff.

yes this is a magazine and you dont have to buy it if you dont want it. as long as sony keep online gaming free i’m cool with this cause then i look at this as if i wanted to buy a game out the psn store. but if sony doing what i think there doing and using this for a back door to pay for the whole psn including gaming online then i might just go buy a…………. another thing sony should’ve waited to bring this out it would’ve made more since to people and would ve made more hype to qore and home. with home being pushed back so many times i wonder now if it would come with a price tag

I personally do not ask for more than I’ve been getting all along; however based on what is being said I’m not going to be getting it unless I decide to pay for things that should be free.
Paying extra for demos, trailers, and behind the scenes stuff is moronic, but to make it worse they are talking about putting advertising in it as well. The whole purpose of advertising is to off set the maintenance costs of something, typically when you pay for a service this removes advertising as the individuals are paying for the maintenance. When you combine the two you are just jerking around the consumers wallet, and I do not approve of it.
The things they are trying to charge for are forms of advertisements in the first place. A demo is meant to help an individual see how a game plays so that in the long run they will hopefully purchase the full game. Trailers are meant to wow an individual into wanting to go see/buy a movie or game. Behind the scenes stuff is usually done to interest the individual in the process of how something was created in the hopes it will inspire them to again watch/buy and also understand the product. By charging for these advertisement mediums you eliminate potential consumers as many, like my self, will not be fooled into paying for things that are just marketing tools for products. If you want to market something, then give me your digital flier, and let me judge it my self, but don’t tell me I’ve got to pay to hear your pitch.
So instead of working on improving the base Playstation store you’re now going to hold back content and use it for a scheme to make money? For shame Sony. For shame. This is kinda of like Xbox Gold and Silver now or whatever that’s all called.
Also I’ve been saying that you’ve been needing more behind the scenes stuff on the Playstation. More stuff that debuts on the PSN first. -5 for Sony.

Bad news! All content should be free for PSN, that’s the main plus PS3 has against XBOX Live, I feel so sorry about SCEA, why been so greedy? They just signed with IGA recently, I feel like they go mistake, after mistake, they don’t get definition on having only one package for the PS3 (that will make people confident on what to buy without feeling they’re missing something), no vibration from the beginning, etc. Lately I’ve feeling lucky having a PS3 just because it has a Blu-ray player incorporated; it really sucks for people who stuck to the brand!

we payed for the ps3’s, which is a lot of G’s out of some people’s money
$700 is about the amount some people get payed in salary per MONTH

I know I said I wasn’t going to rant about this but will anyway.
Here’s why delaying demos doesn’t work using this weeks example.
Ninja Gaiden II demo was supposed to be out.
Someone messed up,it’s not,it’s only for Japan and most of Europe.
It’s still not up and it is expected to be up thursday or friday now.
The game is already out and recived mediocre reviews probably turning people away or at least decided to wait for the demo.
As a silver user I can’t get it on thursday or friday. When that week wait is up MGS 4 will be out and I won’t care about Ninja Gaiden II anymore. It’s much easier to just rent it and bring it back when I get MGS 4 or when I finish it.
I fail to see how Tecmo could be pleased with that. Probably only be first party games that have delayed demos because of such a thing so that’s no good for Sony. When the NBA 2K9 and NBA Live 09 demos are free and NBA 09 is locked to anyone without Qore well that’s not helping them.
With all the backlash this should probably be canceled or made free anyway.
i fear this qore i love playstation because of the wonderful free content to me this is the absolute best thing for me and a point i always touch upon when gettin my friends to get a ps3 instead of xbox (ive gotten 5 of my friends to buy one so far) any please dont move into the money grubbin ways of micro soft i mean i know big business love money just use other ways

By reading this blog it would seem that at least 50% of posters do NOT like this idea. WHY would a company want to offend 50% of it’s clients?? Especially if it is a strugling company that is not fairing too well against it’s competition? Do you guys at Sony think you have this console war so wrapped up that it doesn’t matter what you do? In this console race I have invested pretty heavilly in Sony but for the life of me I just don’t understand many of the decisions they make. They are completely counter productive. I can only hope that this will all make much more sense in the VERY near future. I have been around long enough to see systems fail and this is begining to look like a Dreamcast.

the more i think about qore it seem to be a really crappy way to nickle and dime psn user with extra content u could easily just release on the ps store there is no reason to charge for this at all release psn cards MORE STUFF WILL BE BOUGHT get sum more titles up there with trial version that maybe expire offers deal inter game link ins and unlocks when u start a game show on screen every one playin and maybe when they ar ein the lobby or have it as an option i know this isnt the rigth forum for this type of stuff but it doesnt mean u should read it refine it and use it
