Today we are announcing that Qore: Presented by the PLAYSTATION Network, a highly interactive, monthly lifestyle gaming program covering the world inside PLAYSTATION is on its way to PS3. Qore has been developed to give PS3 users early access to game related content at a level of quality, interactivity and depth. Everything is filmed in HD. Qore will feature exclusive news, developer interviews, in-depth game previews and behind-the-scenes looks at PlayStation games and special access to game demos, special beta invitations, game add-ons and other downloadable game-related content.

Qore

Our premier episode will be available on Thursday, June 5. The premier episode includes in-depth exclusive and never-before released content on upcoming PlayStation titles such as SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Secret Agent Clank, Soul Calibur 4 and Afro Samurai, as well as the latest Blu-ray Disc trailers, an exclusive SOCOM: Confrontation theme with an invitation to the SOCOM: Confrontation beta, art galleries and other surprises. We also know that many of you are big fans of Veronica Belmont, the widely-known host of numerous online video programs and podcasts and an avid gamer, so we’ve chosen her to be your host.

To get Qore, simply log onto PSN and go to the PLAYSTATION Store, as you would purchase any other form of downloadable content. Once the single Episode or annual subscription is purchased, that month’s episode will be downloaded under the “Game” heading on the Cross Media Bar (XMB). Users who purchase the “Qore Annual Subscription” will notice only that month’s episode is available to download. The following month, the new episode will automatically appear in your download list. The introductory price for Qore is $2.99 for a single episode and $24.99 for an annual subscription of 13 episodes, using your PLAYSTATION Network wallet.

As Peter Dille mentioned in a previous PLAYSTATION Network post, the broader service and community initiatives launching on the PLAYSTATION Network this year such as Qore, PlayStation Home and the Video Download Service are all evidence of our dedication to delivering an all-encompassing entertainment experience for PS fans. Qore is the first in a series of planned original programming specifically created for the PLAYSTATION Network community and we hope you enjoy it.

  • WoW she is WAY better looking than PIGGY 360(trixe)

  • Let me make sure that I understand this. Things that we where getting free like movie trailers, Demos, Game trailers, Themes and Wallpaper are now going to cost me.

Will PSN still have free updates or will I have to get all this stuff from Qore now?

How exclusive will the stuff be?

I will be getting this because of SOCOM.

  • So this is why store update have been sorely lacking, so they can make us pay to access it via Qore, nice Sony…very ****ing nice.

  • Sony already shows lack of available content to download free on the PSN so how are they going to have content through Qore? I have a feeling content on the PSN is going to get worse. =/

  • Been asked a few times but so far seems to have dodged an answer.

Is this exclusive to the US store or EU/AU/NZ as well? I’d be interested in getting it, but not if it’s not available or even delayed.

  • sorry one more questions. Will this be available using remote play? I am assuming it will be. WEll, i’m hoping it will be.

  • …Do you people actually read? I mean…DO YOU?

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO USE QORE. IT’S AN OPTIONAL SERVICE. IT’S LIKE AN ONLINE MAGAZINE. IT INFORMS YOU OF WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH CERTAIN GAMES AND GIVES YOU MORE INSIGHT INTO INTERVIEWS AND SO FORTH. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PSN AT ALL! PSN IS STILL A FREE SERVICE WITH GAMES AT A REASONABLE PRICE.

“Qore will feature exclusive news, developer interviews, in-depth game previews and behind-the-scenes looks at PlayStation games and special access to game demos, special beta invitations, game add-ons and other downloadable game-related content.”->THAT’S ALL IT IS! YOU DON’T HAVE TO SUBSCRIBE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO! IT’S OPTIONAL! IT’S SONY’S WAY OF HAVING AN ONLINE MAGAZINE!

I had to type in all caps because I’m appalled with the way people are getting on. I highly doubt half of you even own a PS3. For heaven’s sake people, give the service a chance. If it sucks after a week, then you are justified in saying that Sony wasted their time with this. if it’s successful, then you shouldn’t have even complained in the first place.

How do you even know it’ll be bad when episode 1 is only coming in today?

I really don’t know how the Sony workers who manage this blog even put up with this constant whining.

  • Can I create a US PSN account on my PAL (UK) PS3 and subscribe to QCore? Furthermore if this is possible will I be able to register for (and access) the SOCOM Beta?

  • For european users this will only cost about 17€ for a year. This isn’t that much actually.

    @Sony
A weekly update would be a lot better than a monthly one.

  • @607

Writing an entire paragraph in capitals? Really? Perhaps you should go google the phrase “Pot calling Kettle black.”

We are aware the service is optional. Unlike you, we’re not stupid.

Gold Membership is optional on Xbox too. And we opted out of it by buying a PS3, or so we thought.

  • Yeah, those saying “shut up, it’s optional” are weird, they defend a service that makes us pay for things that were free before. Also, the “optional” service, is not so optional. If you want complete experience of the PSN, well, now you have to pay. It was free now it’s not.

To those saying “3$ is nothing”. Yes, 3$ is nothing, but it’s too much to pay 3$ for something that was free.

As I stated earlier, the exclusive vids and wallpapers will be on the net for free sooner or later, the demos will be available for free a week after the Qore issue.

As for the SOCOM beta, do yourself a favor, go pre-order it instead and you’ll be in the beta. Sony is using the SOCOM beta to augment sales of the first issue so we can see “Qore is a success” in the news next week.

The only thing left is “add-on content”. I personally think it won’t be much, like a t-shirt for GTA4. Unless they make it worthwhile, it’s not a good investment to pay 3$ for crappy content and stuff that would’ve been otherwise free.

Those who pay for Qore are played for fools. Unless you don’t have Calling All Cars and you want it, 3$ is a good price for that game.

I personnaly have no incentive for the first issue and I think Sony went the wrong way on Qore. A good idea gone bad.

  • #610, don’t be foolish. Seriously, just don’t. This is for people who are whining without giving this service a chance. If you and others know it’s optional, then good for you. As for me, I am trying to say that this service may not be as bad as people are making it out to be. I come here and I see pages of people crying, whining, and throwing stupid hissy fits as if it’s the end of PSN as we all know it. It’s a separate service. It’s like an online magazine. What the hell is so hard to understand about this service? And yes I heard that phrase but what the hell does that have to do with what I’m trying to say?

And #611, I can experience PSN without having to pay for Qore because I can buy magazines to keep up with gaming news. I still think this is an interesting idea Sony is toying with and it’s only fair that you give them a chance. I am not paying for the service as of right now because I want to see how it goes first. People aught to give Sony a chance. They gave us a brilliant system so let’s see what they can do with the software.

And if it doesn’t work out, then it doesn’t.

  • Kind of makes me wonder if as a gaming community we brought this on ourselves….most of the gaming community will go to great lengths to obtain a beta or other early access..buying a game to get a beta for another game, preordering, etc. It’s obvious to gaming executives that the gaming masses will spend money to get early access to content. Keep in mind that the game developers need beta testers to compile data related to mass online simulations. They need us to do that but we pay THEM for it because everyone wants to play first.

    Can’t blame SONY…

  • I tried to buy the first subscription this morning at 9am esatern time and I could not find QORE anywhere on the playstation store. has anyone else had any luck?

  • @613

That is exactly what Qore is, its early access to stuff, and also access to stuff we wouldn’t normally get without Qore. For example, with income from Qore they could fly an interviewer to say Insomniac to do a behind the scenes piece on Resistance 2, where before (without Qore) there wouldn’t be a budget for that and therefore would never happen. This is why most of those interviews are held mostly by paper magazines and blogs, they have the budget for that. PSN only has budget for running their operations such as maintaining this blog and posting stuff on PSN.

    @614

It will be available in the afternoon when the normal PSN updates occur.

  • Sony, will this be available for European users?

& Sony.. In-game XMB coming any time soon?

  • Well I hope someone at least tries to read through our rants and who knows maybe we made a difference by voicing our opinions.

  • HairyToeKnuckles

I forgot to mention how I just LOVE the Burger King ad at (0:13)! Is that included with the PAY service, or is that just an added bonus ‘cus we love ads so much?!

Is this a pay service, or is it ad-supported? I’m confused.

And to those spouting off at the mouth saying those complaining are teenagers, I am 32-years-old with a wife and 2 kids. I complain because some of us have a job and pay for our own stuff. In this economy, you have to be a little frugal. I splurged on my PS3, now give me services that should be FREE with it!

Like Burger King (ahem), I want it MY way. XD

  • The service sounds pretty cool. I’m interested in seeing how many free demos, themes, and videos keep appearing on the PSN after this.

The first issue definitely should be free though. I’m not going to give you $25 sight unseen.

  • @JUUKEN 610
yes, we all know the service is optional. but don’t you think it is a little like xbox gold vs silver accounts? don’t you also think the the free PSN part will be affected by qore? these past few weeks the store has not had any new major content. really good stuff will go to qore and the PSN will get second hand stuff. if qore didn’t exist than wouldn’t we be getting all of that really good stuff for free. SONY has marketed a free online experience from day one and a lot of people chose the console because of that. yes, the magazine is optional but it directly affects the PSN store. it just seems a little shady.

  • And #623, you’re jumping to conclusions already when the service is just coming out. Good grief, relax a bit. We don’t know how much of an impact this will have yet. It may seem a little shady to you and other people, but it still means that you guys aren’t give this a chance before you’re jumping the gun already.

  • i just think if SONY did this from day one it would be great. Microsoft was straight up from the beginning. i finally understand why SONY is 3rd in the console race… they can’t make a decision.

  • #625, now that is a stupid thing to say. MS was straight up from the beginning? Oh sure they were. They were straight up with the RROD alright.

    You know what?

I am sick of this blog. I am sick of the whining, the crying, the b*tching, and the fact people cannot stop and read for once. I am in no way kissing Sony’s ass but I have a bit of confidence that they’re starting to listen to the gamers. They’re trying out this service and it’s ONLY fair that we see how far it goes. They weren’t in first place in previous console wars for nothing. If someone can make a comeback, that would be Sony.

You guys sit here and continue to whine about this service as if you’re being forced to pay for it or something. I’ll be playing games on MY PS3 and not worrying about it.

  • @626
I bought my ps3 on the first day it came out and probably the only one who didn’t sell it on ebay. that’s how much i like SONY. its not crying or whining but expressing concern. maybe you would feel better in some middle east country where freedom of speech is not so appreciated. i’m proud for people standing up and questioning. not all of us enjoy bending over for big companies…

  • #627, concern over what exactly? Qore isn’t even off the ground yet and already people are acting as if it’s replacing PSN completely. I never said that people should bend over for big corporations. I’m saying that Sony should be given a chance with this service. People bend over to pay for XBox Live and MS is a big corporation, yes? Sony is not forcing Qore on anyone, from what I’m reading here. It’s an optional service. It’s not replacing PSN.

I’m glad that I have good reading comprehension skills instead of jumping to conclusions because that’s what people are doing here.

Sell your PS3 is you wish to. As for me, I’m sticking with it. I refuse to buy a faulty system that will break within a month or a system I know I won’t be happy with.

  • @juuken u sound so dumb why ppl are worrie because like you ppl made an investment and y they are being vocal before it launched is that if this is an initiative then theyve been planning this for a while now on all this wonderful behind the scene stuff that ur sayin is coming is what we have been gettin on psn if youve ever look we got dev interview on gt5 heavenly sword racthet and clank etcyes its optional stupid much like u had the option since u were so tired of hearing ppl rant to say sumthing but this option is almost nill because demos will be on this qore exclusive demos which makes no sense esp if one of the xclusive things is a socom (sony) beta that should be free on the psn store for alimited time and then if u want in u pre order in we should not have to pay for these demos esp when xboc get more on a more frequent basis consitently sorry that makes no sense to me i can see if this was editorials and reviews and stuff thats only from a magazine but demo and add ons and themes from sony by sony it makes no sense it doesnt matter who they have commissioning it id pay for something like one up yours except longer like 4 hours with review and articles and thats a long shot because there no reason to pay for that because its already online but id give them the benefit of the doubt and industy news maybe but it would have to be cutin edge new ahead of every one and frankly i dont see that happening i love sony cuz they seem liek the gamers company yes they love money but the system cost me like 800 dollar and mine just yellow lighted which dont mean nuttin to me ill do wat ever to get it fixed my ps3 is my baby but i wont put up with stuff like qore that messd up the psn isnt nearly in any shape for them to do this this all need to be free as incentive for ppl to stick with psn honestly cuz even as a sony supporter psn sucks waiting week and weeks for stuff thats out everywhere else is dumb waiting weeks and weeks for just themes to come out sad sony is a huge company made up of alot of diff sectors they need to get theri communication on and bring us better content for free get it up and running good frist b4 u think about changin im still waiting for videos store im still waiting for more games (i love the ones out but i want more) and im still waiting for ps1 and 2 downloadables and while we at it where is ingame music messagin and voice chat ?? but that a diff topic any way there sht that needs to be worked out first and im not blamin anyone on this blog but i kno sum one sum where is responsible for sumthin and who ever that is or they r they need to get theri sht together

  • oh and please believe every electronic i own is sony made i got ps1 one both ps2 slim n fat slim n fat psp tv dvd players the whole shebang bang bizzle so im not a hater and i got a ps3 and 20 games so im supporting sht too so i dont wnna hear u prob dont own a ps3 juuken ur the worst whinner cuz u got no spine im standin up for myself and my interests

  • Please, again, everyone, quit being a bunch of cry-babies about content you’re not getting for free. I don’t get Scientific American for free, I don’t get gas for free, and they refuse to serve me for free at restaurants too.

Here’s a clue, you’re getting a NEW service that’s going to feature content you may or may not care about. If you care, pay your money and help them make more content. If you don’t, don’t pay for it.

This has NOTHING AT ALL to do with the PSN’s regular content as a whole. Keep complaining about that when the blog updates.

Sony’s new Qore servce blog entry.

  • woow 632 comments isent this a record or something

  • QORE IS STILL NOT RELEASED ANY SUGGESTIONS??

  • yeah i’m eagerly waiting for it. and for everyone who is threatening to get a 360 and sell a ps3 i hope you do. I would never go to the dark side no matter what. PS3 is a far superior system to the 360. I can’t tell you how many times people have had to get a 2nd or even 3rd 360 since their first one broke. Anyways i’ve put a lot of money into it as well, upgraded to a 360GB HDD, i’m looking forward to what this year will offer.

  • correction in my typing it is only a 320GB, and when does the store update?

  • @632 and those like you

Perhaps you would be complaining about not getting Scientific American if you bought a $600 subscription to it and they promissed you you would get it. That ring a bell??

Honestly you people are if you cant see that this content would have been going to PSN as PROMISED and is now being diverted to somewhere else. And as far as there wouldnt have been a budget for it, there was (it was called the PSN), and damn sure should have been a bigger budget too.

Sony has allready said that some demos will still go to PSN but the big titles will go to Qore. If that sounds like a good thing to you then you are truly an .

Let’s just give it a chance?? Breaking ones legs might just be fun but I aint gonna try that. Lighting your hair on fire may be absolutely joyous but I’ll leave that for you to try.

Tell you what, why don’t all you people who think this is a good idea send me your car keys that you payed for and then i’ll let you have them back for $3 a month. Or better yet just send me your $3 because I aint gonna send your keys to you anyway. SAME.

  • the ps3 would be the car and that is already paid for. Qore would be like servicing the car such as an oil change perhaps. I know I just get the regular oil change which keeps the car where it needs to be which makes me happy. Then you can get whatever full service thing for more money. Of course you don’t need it but if you want it then it’s there

  • @638

No If psn was a car Qore could not be an oil change, because an oil change is required. A better annology would be to say PSN is like a great H3 fully equipped. And Qore is like NavStar or XM radio neither are required to make the car go but they are so sweet to have…

  • yeah i was just trying to make the car one work since we own our cars and we own our ps3s. Qore wouldn’t affect our playing of games. Him having our keys would prevent us from driving.

  • when was the latest the store updated? it’s usually out by now isn’t it?

  • i dont the qore to be delayed

  • I’m a bit concerned about this, but we shall see.

  • hopefully soon, this is taking a while

  • i was wondering is Canada getting this someone please answer this question please!

  • i’m wondering if anyone will. this is a long time for an update to the ps store. checking back on prev updates they were all done before now. Hopefully there will be a lot of stuff to justify the wait. Otherwise we will see more unhappy people and 600+ responses again

  • sorry to post this here but dont know where else to my store hasnt been updated yet usually is by now is there a problem or some thing any body know?I live in canada if it makes a difference.

  • i live in Canada to eh! the playstation store is the same, the SCEA can’t have two diffrent regions one on continent, too much extra work. so it should be the same.

  • almost about 2 hours late so far

  • I CALLED SONY ABOUT THE UPDATE AND THEY DONT EVEN KNOW WHEN ITS GOING TO HAPPEN IM GLAD THIS UPDATE IS HAPPENING ALL U 13ITCHING U DONT KNOW WHAT THE QORE IS GOING TO DO I CANT WAIT IM PAYING THE 24.99 FOR IT I CANT WAIT FOR IT SO ILL WAIT UNTIL THE UPDATE COMES AND BE HAPPY JUST LIKE ALL OF ARE GOING TO BE WHEN U SEE IT

  • Way to come up with Qore!!!! Yeah, there’s another little four letter word we haven’t heard much from: HOME…? Dead? Let’s focus on finishing up the promised, and then work on the new..

  • Seriously. It’s like 9 (EST) already. Where is it?
