Tonight’s a pretty big night. We, like every other PS3 owner, are gearing up for the launch of Metal Gear Solid 4 and clearing our calendars for the next few days. While June 12th may always be remembered among PlayStation fans as the day MGS4 blew us all away, June 11th is pretty special to us here at SCEA as well.
June 11th 2007 – the birth of the PlayStation.Blog
We knew from the very first post (600+ comments) that this was something you wanted – a direct-line between the people that create the games you love and those of you that play them. Hearing directly from industry decision-makers like Jack Tretton, Shuhei Yoshida, and Peter Dille was pretty unlikely a couple of years back, but we’ve done our best to make sure that is more the rule than the exception.
In just a year, we’d like to think we’ve become an important resource for both consumers and media seeking exclusive news, screens, videos, viewpoints, and tips from the world of PlayStation. For some of you, we’ve gathered that coming here to read up has become part of your daily ritual, and for that we thank you.
In speaking with bloggers in other disciplines – tech, travel, entertainment, dining – we’ve found that nobody is as engaged with the inner workings of their hobby than gamers like you. 300 comments on a post has quickly become common place here on PlayStation.Blog. 300,000 views of a video? You did it. In fact, the stats are pretty mind boggling – take a look:

As first years go, this has been a great one for the blog! Hopefully, the 2nd year will see more features like rating specific comments, more communication with the people responsible for bringing what we want, and more ways we can continue to give our feedback.

I’m assuming it’s only for the top 10, which is cool. Props to those people. I wanted to post more up on here but due to adamant amounts of flame wars, I’ve kept my nose out of it. I usually read most of it, but only respond to certain pieces of it.

It seems like yesterday that I was browsing PSU, saw the news, and checked out a post about God of War: Chains of Olympus.
This first year was great (even though I didn’t sign up until recently, for some reason) and hopefully this upcoming one will be even better!

That’s so awesome I got 2nd place on the most blog post here. I’m probably the most cynical Sony critic of anyone here too. I love Sony, spin my games in their system every chance I get and buy every psn game and PS3 game you can think of that comes out from Sony directly or their in house… but that doesn’t mean I agree with everything you do.
With all that said, this blog was a great venture and it did bridge a huge gap for Me as a consumer to talk to or even just voice my opinions on what makes me happy as a Sony consumer and what doesn’t.
Still gotta laugh about that number 2 spot, though. My negativity here was ill received.
Keep up the good work (I.E.) last psn update was fantastic and try to secure more exclusives for the system!
