  • Can I have a release date for the psn cards so I can play some games, or have you guys scrapped the idea

  • I have one question, is the PSN to be updated regularly or are you guys going back to Thursday. I say this because this week was amazing, we got the RockBand addons on tuesday and a whole bunch of E3 videos, and now this, I mean its like the first time I see this. Thank you

  • i love you sony, i really do.

  • @crystalx3d

Sony could get PS2 games to be able to be bought off the PS3 if they wanted to. All they have to do is do some software emulation and then make sure the Broadband can support the games and then away you go. Yes it may take some time but Sony could do it.

I also thing Sony could do the same with the 40 gigs and now 80 gigs. All they would need is a patch and a firmware up date and that would allow PS2 games to be played.

Also I know it is a different company but if Microsoft and the 360 can allow you to download Xbox games what is stopping Sony from allowing the PS3 to download PS2 games.

My guess is that just Sony has no plans on doing it now. Seeing as the other day Sony just said there are over 100 new games coming out on the PS2. So to me when the PS2 ages to ten years old Sony will then start selling PS2 games to be downloaded.

But at the same time I wonder why Sony can’t allow them to be downloaded now.

  • oh yeah, I forgot to say great job to sony on the updates this week. The video store is a very good addition.

  • We can’t get downloadable PS2 games on PS store because of the high fill rate and incompatible PS3s out but it would nice if we got some high selling PS2 remakes on the PS store.

  • inFamous Trailer missing again! Cmon I need to see that in HD!

Still great update, I can always download e3 conference part 3 for it I suppose.

  • How often will the Video Store get updated?

  • Release 2.4!!!!!

    Oh, wait…

    Nice update.

  • Rayman!!! YES!

Keep the PSONe classics a regular thing.

    Any word on Wipeout HD?

  • I’m sorry if this comes off as conceded, but I don’t think it’s right that people who do not pay for Qore are getting the “exclusive” Qore content, like the NARUTO: Ultimate Ninja Storm Playable Demo, for free.

I, being one of those people, feel completely ripped off.

  • Where’s Home?

    Haha, j/k.

    For now… ;)

  • @agnostikos

I believe Qore users only get timed exclusive demos — everyone else will still get it, just at a later date.

Anyways, nice update… looks like I’ll spend some cash tonight.

  • Decent update, not interested in anything, but at least you gave us a PSP game and a PSOne game. Keep it up.

Still very disheartened by E3 so excuse me for not being overly enthusiastic. Loss of BC in September, and various other things. I feel sick just thinking about it.

  • Also, I’m with cell989. The fact that you guys have put forth the effort to update the store all week is purely awesome. I wish you guys would dump the Thursday updates and just give us what you’ve got.

  • Great update still would like to see those PS1 games rolling out every Thursday.

  • Glad for Rayman…I’ll download it soon.

Would like to see prices on ex UMD games coming down though…these games are readily available used or in discount bins for the most part and are cheaper than the digital dls.

Any thought to having demos delivered by RSS feed (Assuming PS3 eventually GETS RSS!)?

  • Sorry…one more thing…you guys need to integrate video trailers into the demo info on the store…even if it is a demo I’d like to see it first before spending bandwidth to find out what its all about!

  • Hi one Q why i cant see the video store on the ps store!!!! it shows the big icon but i cant acces to it!!

  • Whoa, was there a problem encoding “PlayStation E3 2008 Press Conference – Part 2”? I don’t know the technical term but it’s WAY over-stretched; almost unbearable.

  • Another great update. And finally another PS1 game!!

  • #5

You’re forgetting to factor in the VAT. You are paying more but the difference isn’t anywhere near what you’re claiming it is.

What’s the VAT in your country? I know the UK is 17.5% so lets go with that $399 euros – 17.5% = approx 70 euros.

So it really is $400 USD vs 330 Euros
    330 euros= $522 USD

There could be other costs as well.

So once again, you are paying more, but its not as high as you are claiming it is.

  • Oh btw, could you tell Jack Tretton that if he is going to make comments about the failure of the UMD Movie format that he might want to take a look at the PS Video store. 10 dollars for an SD movie for purchase… are you serious? DVD costs that much and if you’re lucky you can get the Bluray for the same price off of amazon. Digital Distro is supposed to be a deal in comparison not a rip off.

Also the TV Series also need to be grouped into a PURCHASABLE SEASON, I want to get the entire season of Family Guy say 6 I have to pay more than what it would cost me to buy the DVD’s. I can let it slide on it being dead even with the DVD’s on this one it’s a lot less encoding for me to do to put it on my PSP (though I don’t have to worry about DRM ><, DRM is a real hit on the value of the download). I can deal with 2 dollars on specific episodes of things, like I’m not going to buy every episode of Aquateen or Robot Chicken, maybe there is a season of Family guy that has only 2 good episodes. PAckage deals would be nice.

Purchase of HD Movies would be nice and while I haven’t tried to do this yet storing a movie on external media would go a long way. I’m sure you guys have disabled this ability making the PS Store a major inconvenience for movies and TV shows.

If Universal is on your list of supporters, please try to get Battlestar Galactica Episodes up as soon as they air, that will certainly go a long way with me.

I like the Video store, but it needs work to make it acceptable. Oh ya one last thing a subscription service wouldn’t hurt to counter the Netflix deal for a certain company. Get that subscription service worked out by November and you’ll pretty much negate that announcement and make me a happy camper.

  • well, elefunk keeps freezing my ps3 on level 3 of the 1st stage, any ideas anyone?

  • Are there any enhancements to these PS classics?

  • OMG! this blog is so PSP friendly. it loads up so fast im actualy at a bookstore ryt now. nice blog update. keep more psx releases commin.

  • Good update, keep the PSone games rolling in. Blood Omen would be a good one to keep in mind.

  • Holy crap is that a PS1 classic I see? I just woke up and i’m not sure if my eyes are playing tricks on me. I kind of was expecting more since this is after all E3 week but since there has been content a;; week i’ll let it slide, but this once ONLY!

  • k.. 3rd time elefunk froze my ps3, goodness

  • Cool, nice update. The Elefunk game interests me.

Thanks for the PSOne game too, SCEA! I don’t remember Rayman, but I might get it anyway.

  • Why did I pay for Qore 2 expecting an “Exclusive Demo” and Naruto shows up on the Weekly PSN update???

  • Cool. I think I’ll be downloading Elefunk and Rayman when I get home later.

  • Nice update! I just have a question though. When is Canada getting the PlayStation Video Store?

  • I have been trying the damn Elefunk Level 1 for the last half hour and still no solution. Thanks for making an unbeatable game! Now I’ve wasted $4.99 on a piece of crap that i can’t even play because the first demo level is unbeatable.

    Thanks again…

  • Hey could you tell us what the song/band that plays during the Playstation Family Sizzle video?

Thanks alot, and keep up the good work!

  • FINALLY A NEW PSONE GAME!

  • Excellent update! Thanks Sony. One question… Can we please get some love of the Playstation Eye? It has so much potential. Please give us some more PSEye lovin!

  • what happened to the game rat race psn title

  • A couple of questions here…

    1. Syphon Filter 1 and Syphon Filter 3 are on the store but why isnt Syphon Filter 2?

    2. Does Elefunk have PSN trophies?

    3. Where are the PSN cards?

  • Rayman? an ok start please bring more PS1 games to the store that people are willing to buy.

  • @37
    Korlithiel

The new psp has a video out so I’d imagine the videos need to be one GB in order to have a near-high-resolution download

  • I have to agree with KazeEternal the video rental are to much. I saw some movies you could buy for 15 dollars and now almost every week when a new movie comes out you can get it for 15. So why would I buy it off of PSN when I can have a disk.

Also I agree with past commenters please keep updates coming dayly or at least every other day. I really liked that people that owned a PS3 were getting the stuff the same time as people that own a Xbox 360.

I really liked not having to wait for the downloads. To me this would be the best news I could hear from Sony and the PS3 if when ever there was new content it could go live.

Plus going live at the same time as people who own the 360 get it on Live.

Sony please stop making game content only come out on Thursday. Because these last few days were great and I would hate to go back to only one time a week.

  • The Playstation store needs mac support.

  • @84

Discs (movies in particular) cause some heavy wear on an optical drive. plus isn’t it illegal in America to copy movies? (with the digital version you could legally copy it to 100 psps, right?)

  • oh yeah, where’s “my name is Earl” Season 1 Episode 2?… I’m trying to get the entire collection but it’s incomplete on psn it seems

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Is the video store offline?
Instead of Game and Video…I just see one button that says something else (Top of store?-dont remember right now).
