The PSB & SOCOM.com Weekly Recap

+ Posted by Jeff Rubenstein // Social Media Manager

Hey everyone, we hope you enjoyed our posts during this E3 week. Over the next week we’ll be bringing you more news on titles you heard about this week, title-specific information on games supporting trophies and PS3-specific features of some releases that are just around the corner, and a report from Comic-Con International, where the public will get a chance to go hands-on with some of our upcoming titles for the first time.

Also, we’ve seen the questions/requests you’ve been posting during the week, and we’ll be working on getting you answers.

@Supercoolboy13

@jonapello
@Rubin
@Araskaz
@Ninja-KiLLR
@Raptors138
@DVS aRtiSt
@GAM3R_16
@Zaivset
is that the only thing you want to ask Jeff for a stupid song rather than ask him a bout more exclusive games for the console.

@ ghamdikh1 - everyone over at the forums has been pulling together to figure out what this song is with no such luck. so to answer your question, yes we are asking what the ’stupid’ song is. geesh man. we can ask what we want so shove off.

and oh yeah, the song isn’t that stupid, seeing as how it was part of an E3 trailer for Sonys consoles.

peace,
Lh

@52

Yes, we all are wondering what this song is.

And we’re not crying, we’re asking if Jeff can tell us, if it’s an underground band or not.

So dude, chill, don’t calling people crying babies.

I’m sure that if you were part of the oh say…hundreds of people that have tried to find this song, you would be questioning jeff too.

And I don’t really care much for exclusives now. I know whats coming out, and I’m excited about that.

@52

You do realize that’s exclusives require money, time, and resources while telling us a “stupid song” just requires one keyboard right?

Questions *sigh*

1) Can we look forward to major RPG announcements at Squares big show on the first week of August.

2) Will Leipzig have any RPGs

3) will Tokyo Game Show have any surprises…. like RPGs

4) Now that the 2nd Gen 80 gig has been announced to have no BC will those of us with BC consoles get ousted on future updates for features like InGame XMB for PS2 and Ps1 titles.

5) God of War 3?

6) Song in the Family Sizzle Video? yes I too want to know.

7) PS Music Store?

8) Yearly subscription service for rentals?

9) Plans for Firmware 3.0?

10) Favorite Italian Dish?

Have fun with those jeff ^^.

Agreed. Im smart enough to watch e3 and search the internet to know which games are coming. Besides ghamdikh1, Jeff said hes working on answering the reauest/questions, and the name of the opening song seems to be the most requested info amongst any e3 form.
Where just leting sony know that we are relying on them to provide the song.

@52

Uhhh yeah lets ask him if there is another exclusive so he can not respond because he isnt suppose to tell us. But, instead we ask him something we really want and is attainable and you think your better because you dont like the song? I’ve been searching for this song ever since Sony’s conference… and apparently so has everyone else. Get over yourself kid.

I have to say E3 wasn’t all that great this year. Not enough announcements of new games. Guess we’ll have to wait till TGS?

…It’s made even worse when we hear announcements of a new 80GB console but STILL without BC and then we hear this:

SCEA CEO Jack Tretton said in a roundtable with journalists at E3 today that he would have liked to have had backwards compatibility in PlayStation 3, but the company has made its decision and is sticking with it.

He explained that Sony did “not take a greater hit on production cost without losing PlayStation’s heritage” and that backwards compatibility “wasn’t all that expensive.”

“But we’re selling PS2 software to PS2 customers, and selling PS3 software to PS3 consumers,” he added.

“I would like to have had it in there, but Sony’s collective strategy determined we could afford to lose it. We’ve now gone down that road: we’re not going back.”

So in other words Sony is saying “We can afford it, it’s easy to implement, thousands of people want it and are holding off buying a PS3 because of it, but we’ve made our minds up and that’s that”. In other words Sony are being stubborn. So much for listening to your consumers. Makes you wonder what this blog is for.

WHAT  |  July 20th, 2008 at 3:00 am

A blog by SCEA for PlayStation fans.

The blog was not this week. Next time, lets sit the developers by the fireplace. Give them a pipe, a red robe, and let them talk about sunflowers, rainbows, and purple ponies.

How about we avoid questions that can be answered with a quick Google search next time. Also, next time, special screen shots, game features, and game play videos might be nice. This blog has about 51 weeks of good stuff and both E3 weeks have lacked anything good.

I would really appreciate just a little info on PSN cards, have they been indefinately put back, is there a date you have in mind to fully release them. Have they just been cancelled and no-one is getting new stock?

It’s been so long since there’s been any news, it would be nice to know so I’m not checking every now and again to see if they’re in Gamestop or Target or something yet.

@Mistery, that’s just “lame”. Why can’t they just give you the name of the song. What the heck are they else doing there at customer service if they don’t wish to provide you with help?

I need some answers……….

1) Jeff many people are complaing because they ***CANNOT*** find the video store. Can you guys please add a seperate Icon on the XMB for the Video Store, so customers can easily find it?

2) Please add in a sound when someone sends you a friend request or friend invite

3) Can we please customize the In Game XMB

4) Please add a Video Playlist…………………….!

@74
People actually can’t find the video portion of the store? No, I disagree with your suggestion everything doesn’t need to be made idiot proof. I don’t need more clutter on the XMB because some people can’t figure out the button next to game that says video changes to the video portion of the store.

@Jeff
Here is an idea to roll around with. I can only speak for myself but even with a form of high speed internet it still takes between 30 minutes or so to download demo of games so I don’t, but one or two. I don’t think I am the only one and as more people trying out the demos could possibly mean more sales of the games. My idea was that Sony let devs add one bronze trophy to the demos for those that want to do it. Again I can only talk for myself here but I know I would be more willing to download demos and play them if I know it could contribute to my level.

I just want to add to my comment #79

The layout can be the same for when the retail game comes out they are added to the already listed game but the demo trophy has demo next to the title of the trophy.

or..

If anymore tweaking of the layout there could be a separate section for demos so when you look at your trophies you can view retail or demo or when friends compare they can choose.

Personally I like the former idea as it’s more tidy.

Jeff is the vid store ony 4 the US PEOPLE?

89

Gravatar

nr1079  |  July 20th, 2008 at 11:31 am

@PS fanboy
the differance betweent the two is that the $499 ps3 has 4 usb ports, flash card reader SACD support, and is ps2 compatable. Where as the $399.99 only has 2 USB ports, and none of the rest

I hope you will fix the gravity…On the trailer we can see the characters flying or sliding,it’s pretty bad for a “blockbuster” …
