heh. It sounds like Sony’s servers got owned last night… I had no problems updating this morning.
Another extremely vague update, GTA IV still locks up too :( I’m at the wedding I just want to finish this game…
This update made my screen blurry ive checked all my connections even moved to a newer TV and its still blurry
Also, whenever I click submit, I get a page with the http 404 not found error. Is your comment-posting code redirecting me to an incorrect page possibly?
Hope everything is back to normal today, I want to see if re-installing Warhawk and its updates will allow me to see the servers again…
Right, so MY theory is that the update is to expand how many downloads the PS Store can take at one time, for the release of home in the near future =]

are you sure your resolution didn’t reset to 480?
my update DL’d fast and installed fine, but I noticed for some reason Oblivion keeps freezing on me now, and it NEVER has before, i’ve had it since it the day it came out, and i have the 60 gig launch unit!

the “blurry” thinger, is it intense or just like a soft blur?
A Few Suggestions:
1) Move the date/time or the battery status meter. When you press the PS button, these two icons overlap and you can’t see them.
2) In-game XMB support for PS2/PS1/BD/DVD.
3) Ability to disable the ‘Are you sure you want to turn off the system?’ question. This is just annoying for me.
4) Ability to change only part of a theme, for example just the icons. I only change the icons so I hate selecting a new theme that has a background that I just go in and change again.
5) Display thought bubbles for friends that are offline.
6) Show trophy count and level on the friends list.
6) NO MORE SMALL UPDATES!!!!!!!!!!!! If you only do this one, I will be a very happy customer. These small updates suck!
ok this is completly off topic but what is up with the mics on bad company!!! does anybody know how 2 fix them!!! but for something more on topic…. im in canada and i dont have the option to download movies and TV shows yet can you guys tell me when that option is coming to canada??? P.S. keep up the good work guys

Dice is working on a fix for the mics in BC now. (well..Dice and Sony) I expect it will be out by the time Conquest is out.
Well, something weird happened to me, I was downloading the update and it was well… slow, I thought it’d take me around 2 hours (when it usually takes my 90 minutes), I thought my internet was slow, but when the download was around 70% the ps3 suddenly rebooted and showed the instalation screen, while it was installing, around 60% I looked away for a sec and then it the installation was complete, and when I check the firm. version it says 2.42
The ps3 works… normally… it froze once while i was watching a youtube video, nothing serious. Anyone has any suggestions?

Canada’s laws relating to digital distribution and copyrights are much more complicated than the US’s and take a lot longer to get through to approve stuff. You guys will get the store eventually, but Sony’s not just shafting you for the heck of it.
I just updated, and I hope it fixed the mic problem.

Yo! What about Patch Notes? It should be included as a must. otherwise people will consider such patches as ‘unnecessary empty shells’.

Ok… this is really off subject but… What does everybody here prefer? Standing the PS3 up, or laying it flat? I have mine flat because it just feels to me like the cd’s and games should be loaded and used that way. But I am here watching the E3 press conference video and I see a PS3 standing up and it just looks so much more sleek and nice. So now I am considering it. I know it’s not a huge decision, but I am not sure if that is what may cause some people’s PS3’s to freeze up and so on. What does everyone here think?

great with the 2.40 update, it didn’t play ps3 games and anything blu-ray…..now with 2.42 my ps3 is a boat anchor. wow!!!
30 minutes after starting my update process and progress is at a whopping 1%…. So heres either wicked server load or this “little” update ain’t so little tho I’m inclined to go for the former. I hope the download speed jacks up soon cuz the lil demons in my head that control my metal gear online addiction are starting to get annoyed
does anyone have a solution for the 800 error codes?
I’m glad to see they keep working on making all PS1 and PS2 games playable. I thought they had stopped after releasing the not backwards compatible PS3’s.

Just letting you guys know….I got the patch to download and work just fine…..BUT GTA IV STILL LOCKS UP WHEN I LOOK AT MY STATS AND PRESS L1 FOR FRIENDS ONLY IT LOCKS MY WHOLE PS3 UP AND THEN NEEDS TO BE RESTARTED COMPLETELY!!

improve playability? now battlefield bad company lags like crazy. figure about another weak it won’t be good for anything but a coaster for my drink why can’t online format be standardized and modeled after a game that is already proven itself
See what happens when you push the dev’s too far and want an early release of firmware. This type of stuff happens, people ps3 gettin’ bricked, games not working and all around just general pain in the neck type stuff. I hope everyone has learned from this, DON’T PUSH DEVELOPERS TOO HARD!!
How about being able to bookmark your place in an audio file? Or the option to play from where you left off or from the beginning. Variable speed control for audio (as one can for video) would be quite helpful as well.

great update… but would the future update have a calander or alarm system or a personal avatar greeting you once you turn on your ps3… that would great as well…

I was kind of upset that I couldn’t connect to the servers last night. But I managed to get the FW update today.
I don’t mind frequent FW updates as I prefer getting added functionality/improved performance sooner rather than later.
But a more detailed list of improvements (in this case what games were improved and how)would be nice.

There’s two things I hate with PS3 :
1. Your firmware updates sometimes cause more trouble than it is supposed to solve – as a matter of fact you be extensively be testing your updates before making them available to us.
2. Having a damn hard drive also means that devs can release (and it’s what to many actually do) bugged games that will be eventually be fixed.
when are they going to get it so you can download the update through the pc?

I hope you don’t listen to the small children here, crying for you to stop with the small updates. Those children find it a pain to update cause their internet sucks and its those same children that cause lag when playing online p2p servers. Updating the PS3 takes < 10 minutes. If it takes more than an hour every time, than your internet sucks and you should cry at your parents.
I really love the small updates, its better than waiting for 6 months for an update, only to find out it gets cancled and you have to wait for another 6 months. Again, most people like the fact that you update the PS3 regularly, the others are just children so only grab their money and don’t listen to them.
