im gonna cry!!! is it just me? or is it working for all of you? I restarted my ps3 and my modem and router…everything seems to be working just fine, I checked my network settings and they are all looking good. Im not sure if its a problem on my end or if its the server or something? nobody else seems to have my problem but it keeps starting the downlaod now, and then it fails…my connectiong is good cuz I can get on the blog and post just fine..
what else should I try??

I have to agree with some people here. Please post a detailed changelog instead of a vague “improved playback quality” description.

Can you fix the damn mic issue?
This is becoming a JOKE on the entire community and use microphones.

Sorry about the former post, something went wrong. And also sorry about this off topic message but this worries me!!! Sony don’t tell me this is true? Check out the PS3 hardware sales of the PS3 in the US?! Sales are according to VGchartz. If this is true, the E3 had a much more negative impact on you than everybody could have expected.

Jeigh | July 29th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
Wow, this pretty much came out of nowhere, and methinks there’s something else to this besides “improved playback” since the update certainly seems to be a decent size… Maybe something to do with the new Life With PlayStation feature…?
I actually have some things on my PSP firmware wishlist, as I have recently become aware that it is still quite incomplete. Since lists are certainly easier to skim then paragraphs:
-Ability to edit music, video and picture details.
-Support for MP4 video (videos from my PS3 absolutely will not play)
-Ability to create folders/playlists
-QWERTY keyboard input (I can’t believe we’re still working with the abominable cellphone method)
I realize it’s unlikely that anyone will read this at three or more pages back, but maybe the next time there’s a PSP update I’ll be able to post it within the first page.

@ 120 MidnightBlues
At 10 PM at night on a weekday? You can bet that the people working at PlayStation.blog have gone to bed with all of the other sane people in the country. The download via PC should be up in the next day or so.
125
Thetruefiziks | July 29th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
people who can’t connect to PSN server, just keep restarting your system and re-trying
126
CrAzYsHoT | July 29th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
wow this update sucks, I have never had one problem with my ps3 till this update, if sony was so good they should of tested this update on many ps3s and they should compress the files like xbox, anyway this update should of been fixed hours ago but whatever cause i can’t download it like millions of other people.

PsychoEddie | July 29th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
WTF? you guys only support 300 baud or something? it’s taking HOURS to download a simple firmware update. 2. there’s no link to the upgrade on the psu website to download the software. C. you didn’t provide us with an alternative link in this alert to download the upgrade to a memory stick, so we wouldn’t have to go through the now incredibly SLOW PS network. WooHoo! It’s been an hour and the download is 5% complete. Another YEAR and I’ll be able to get online again! Find the amateur(s) responsible and fire them.
128
Thetruefiziks | July 29th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
the update is fine, nobody has had problems with it, only with connecting to the servers. Just retry when the load’s reduced
129
Thetruefiziks | July 29th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
I got it in the first few mins and it downloaded in seconds, yours will too if you go to sleep and try it again later

Great, yet another ANNOYING UPDATE!!! I am so tired of these things because they WILL NOT LET ME PLAY ONLINE UNTIL I D/L IT!!! But now this one WON’T DOWNLOAD!!! Every time I start the d/l it goes INCREDIBLY SLOW, gets to about 5%, then comes up with the message “An error occurred during the download operation. A connection to the server cannot be established.” My internet connection is very fast and is working perfectly!!! I AM FURIOUS!!! I GET HOME FROM WORK AND JUST WANT TO PLAY COD4!!! I know I am not the only one having this problem. I DEMAND THAT SONY FIX IT NOW! I am very close to trashing this P.O.S. SONY PS3 and buying an XBOX 360!!!

Bcollin2008
three words “remote servers”
133
rofldings | July 29th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
@119 / Onna76_NL
It’s because of the firesale the 360 had this past week. They dropped the price to $299 for the 20gb to clear out stock.
Lots of people bit at that price, but the new 60gb will be back to $349.99.
134
Kedaro | July 29th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
@132
Isn’t ‘remote servers’ two words?
135
masterage | July 29th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
All I ask is a Guilty Gear Accent Core fix for the 80gb. It runs about 20% of the time…come on. If it runs part of the time it’s easily made to run all of it T_T
136
Kedaro | July 29th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
And I think there is a few people on here, that have the same IP as another member name rhymes with “Flashlight hues”, I could be wrong though… I doubt it though.

Firmware suggestions:
When you restore your hard drive onto another (or the same) PS3, all of your music files that are in AAC will lose all of their tags and album art. Please add an “Edit Multiple” option, or implement AAC file recognition. Without those 2 important features you have to edit every music file one by one.
Please tie everything to your username, instead of the MAC address of the PS3. You have no idea how frustrating it is that I have to start my Rock Band save all over again, because I had to send my PS3 in for a repair. Rock Band, High Velocity Bowling, among others have locked saves, even with a full system back up they wont transfer to another PS3.
You have to redownload all of your PSN content, and then activate the PS3 to play them…why can’t you just activate the PS3 to unlock the games instead of having to redownload?
138
Onna76_NL | July 29th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
@Rofldings, yeah but common, a drop, from over 60.000 until 28.000, I’ve never seen anything like this with the PS3 in the US. Or this must be an error.,,
139
PsychoGodzilla | July 29th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
Hey Could i have a link to the download because the system update using my PS3 isnt working. It keeps saying “Connection error” when it gets to around 10%.
Link for the new update will be nice. =]

Is there any chance of an automatic shutdown feature for the PS3 after a set amount of time or after a Blu-ray movie finishes?
141
PSYCHO-MAGNET | July 29th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
Since 9pm pacific time
An error occured during the downlaod operation. A connection to the server cannot be established. Oh well maybe tommorrow.

Bcollin2008 | July 29th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
…..still not working……and now I’d like to send a BIG F-U to all the sony playstation network people who had anything to do with this update….i hate you and may you all rot in HE#%!!!
P.S. to “Thetruefiziks” @132 etc.: i don’t claim to be a genius but from what i can tell “remote servers” is two words, moron, and as for your comments to everyone about how to resolve the d/l issue, you have NO idea what u are talking about, so just shut it, you are helping no-one!
148
strider367 | July 29th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
What is the problem with you people. One friggin nightmare after another with you people. Is the server down. I dunno that would make too much sense to let anybody know..
149
Kedaro | July 29th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
It should be noted that my DL of this very FW update took me roughly 2 minutes on a 1+mbps connection(for my end), just letting you all know, because the people having trouble should probably call their ISPs, instead of hounding Sony about it, seeing as PSN and Sony servers from my experience seem to be a lot faster than any/all the competition’s, and pc-server response is also relative to personal connection speeds, please refrain from shovelling all of your own garbage into Sony’s face…
Thanks -ahead of time-

tezasaurus | July 29th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
To the people having issues updating: chill the hell out. You’d think the world was ending or something.
