New inFamous inFo, Screens

Posted by Bruce Oberg // Programming Lead, Sucker Punch

Hey Everyone! All the Sucker Punchers here at HQ are super excited about the July issue of Game Informer (available at fine magazine stands everywhere). GI has a 10-page cover story on inFamous, our (deep breath) open-world-modern-day-super-hero-action-adventure game. The article does a great job capturing the best things about inFamous.

cover183

A pile of screen shots showing Dylan’s powers? Check. A first hand account of the addictive gameplay? Check. An intro to the player-driven story line? Check. The whole thing really nails what we’re after with the game: an evolving open city where you get to choose how you use your strange newfound powers. Will you use the powers for good? …or for something else?

A bunch of news about inFamous will be released during this year’s E3, so keep an eye out. We’re finishing up a new trailer, more artwork, some interviews, and more details about the gameplay. If you’re too anxious to wait, check out these new exclusive screenshots.

OMG, can’t wait to see more of this game at E3, it’s one of my most anticipated PS3 games ever. It can’t wait for this one even more than LBP and R2. Things are looking mighty good for Sony ! Oh and thank-you Sucker Punch for keeping us informed on the PS blog, I was actually a Ubisoft tester on one of your first games ever “Rocket” on N64. The moment I witnessed that game and it’s amazing physics, I knew you had talent to become one of the top game developers in the industry and you are !

I had a chance to read this article a few days ago, and you’ve confirmed that this is certainly much more than Sony’s version of Crackdown (which was an excellent game anyway).

I’m really interested in the story and the player’s main abilities. Hopefully, the hero/anti-hero ideas from way back see major effects in the final game. The only thing that I hated about Crackdown was that you had to be good.

@102

Thank god your vote doesn’t count. your vote is like an application put in by a homeless guy. It gets tossed aside and or in the trash.

Anyways,as I told Kaz I’m buclking myself down. I have to regulate myself better around here and he really broight that to light and my attention.

that is all… thank you!

YES! I’ve been waiting for more information ever since you guys released the first screens! I’m glad you’ll be showing off infamous at E3, can’t wait. This is seriously close to being my ‘Uncharted’ of 2008, along with MGS4 (both of which had be joygasming for weeks O_o). Keep that picture in mind when polishing up your game Sucker Punch :P

gamesblow  |  July 2nd, 2008 at 6:22 pm

@ mendezgato

She didn’t, I pay for my own xbox live service. Though it would have been nice of her.

On a side note, it’s pretty sad that you let someone you don’t know, don’t know what they look like, don’t know what color they are, don’t know anything about get to you so much it makes you hate them.

I don’t hate you or anyone… I guess that’s where I upstage you in the common sense department, though.

@ gamesblow lol good one, still don’t like your trolling attitude

I’ve had my eye on this game ever since the first trailer, but the lack of updates about it has killed a lot of it for me. I’m still interested somewhat, but I’m more into Prototype now.

Thunderstruck  |  July 2nd, 2008 at 7:39 pm

Looks like the game is going to be alot of fun. This years E3 should be pretty sweet for Sony.

MidnightBlues  |  July 2nd, 2008 at 8:17 pm

Listen sony you guys have got to stop this!! you are releasing too many games that are must haves in such a short time….I cant afford to keep up!!! MGS 4 Battlefield, littlebigplanet, resistance 2, prototype, infamous…..

I cant keep up with you guys….tooooo many good games and I cant decide, I know I have to have prototype and littlebigplanet, but the rest I just dont know….I want them but damn…

lakaihigh  |  July 2nd, 2008 at 9:49 pm

this game is looking to be awesome! i cannot wait for what you guys have in store for us at E3 this year. will you be showing any other powers other than the lighting thing?

*off topic*

@ gamesblow – you yawn at this game so how about instead of preaching on here you go finish your episode of desperate housewives OC and check your drama at the door next time you come in?

thanks,
Lh

It is my opinion that this game is just not appealing to me. Hope you like it and support it and all that. I am not trying to stop you from buying this game… I am simply saying the character needs work. He looks generic. I don’t know wha’t the hell kind of outfit that is but I have a feeling he’d be a hit in the Dungeons & Dragons scene & the Dragon Ball Z crowd.

Aside from that, this city looks like it offers up nothing for us to do besides run to our next goal. This is why sandbox games like GTA fail in the end.

they just don’t offer enough in these vast city’s they try to make.

Here’s clue, make the city smaller and more interesting rather than big and bland. If we had something to do, buildings to go into, houses and such it’d be different but we don’t get that. What we get is big bland, lifeless cities.

I’m not picking on Sucker Punch, I love them and think they’re incredle developers. I think they took the wrong road with this game is all. I think a more cartoon orientated and friendly looking game would’ve been better. Sony needs more of those games, they don’t need more Flawed sandbox attempts.

I could be wrong, we’ll see. Right now the main character reminds me of the guy from Haven and that’s just no good.

I just wont the function so that I can go to the XMB in game and send game requests there. also I would like the function to join other peoples game from the XMB in game. Because its so much easier to jump online and join one of your friends games. those features shouldn’t be that hard to implicate. (get on it sony)

I double Posted this because I really want these features

How about you guys add some hair to this character’s head? He looks so damn generic.

Scarecrow  |  July 3rd, 2008 at 6:55 am

Looks badass!
The graphices are nice, smooth, and polished!

Whoa! This guy has some badass powers, hope to see a lot of destructible environments, very important to convey a level of destruction that way.

Hey make sure to make this game very cinematic, really wanna see an ENGAGING story drive the game.

Will definitely get this mag! Love Gameinformer to death!

Those screens look AMAZING! This game has been on my list of most anticipated titles from the moment I saw the first trailer. Something about a sandbox superhero/antihero game with amazing powers to save or destroy everything is just too good to resist. I’m sure Sucker Punch won’t fail to deliver. Can’t wait to see the game in action!

Where are the PS1 games that the Japanese store is getting? You supposively evaluate each area to determine what to make available, yet there are many of us that would like to have the games like Alundra, Metal Gear Solid, and Biohazard. Since there are no new PSP games coming out soon, releasing PS1 games to play on the PSP would help pass the time till all these new PSP games you mention are coming out.

I hope this game utilizes the Bluray’s endless capacity for unprecedented, uncompromisable experience, something GTA IV sadly isn’t.

136

jocomat10  |  July 5th, 2008 at 9:36 pm

great game but add something new to it like a open offline multplayer mode or something like that. hasnt been done other then gta san andreas i think.

I’ve heard nothing about this game, but in my opinion it looks very “360 hardware-limited”. This isnt a PS3 exclusive, is it? If so, you guys really need to upgrade the graphics there.
Oh, and if it IS on the 360 as well, please make use of the BD-25 and include lossless PCM audio. This Dolby Digital crap is getting annoying.
