I have one simple question... When is this update goingto be released? I got hopeful when the firmware update 2.20 came out, but that doesn't seemt o have enabled this. Please tell me we don't have to wait (and buy) Vol 3 before this happens?

Unfortunately I am not technically minded so this may have already been thought about.

Would it be possible to BEGIN a game of SingStar where we have to insert all our owned discs, be it PS2 or PS3 so that the Carousel gets updated (this time only), from then on in all songs are in the Carousel, the game can tell you what disc to insert, and if you restart i.e. play somewhere else, change game, send the rental back! you cant use those songs.

I love the idea of being able to use the PS2 singstar discs, I totally understand the copyright of music and pop videos and hope SONY continue in their efforts against any form of piracy (why should I pay X because someone takes the risk of chipping to pay Y).

My ONLY gripe - why tempt us with a pre-game video PLAINLY showing wireless mics, but giving us no time scale?

SCEE - Are the wireless mics coming with PS4?

Regards

For some reason this does not actually work for me. I have a PS3 and the SingStar disc for PS3 that came with it, but when I hit [select] while in the song select screen nothing happens! I've even tried ejecting the disc but that doesn't work either. Can someone explain what's going on and how I can access this fabled disc swap feature?

FYI - When I plugged in the PS3 yesterday it successfully completed a software update. Could this be a firmware issue caused by the latest update?

Thanks in advance!

While I'm on a rant-roll, can I just ask: Why doesn't Sony sell Singstar in Asia, the BIRTHPLACE of karaoke, and the place in the world it is most insanely popular?

I swear, if I were a stockholder, I'd just about plotz at the stupidity being exhibited...

Oh yeah, I forgot Sony's E-Reader as another great product which failed to be marketed. Quite analagous in fact - Amazon has come along and created the online store that Sony failed to with its Kindle.

Sony needs to leverage its HUGE (and I mean HUUUUGE) stable of artists whose works they control on their record label. Music games are the hottest thing in the market right now, and Sony is squandering a goldmine in BOTH sales of game software/hardware AND sales of DLC. Karaoke games are perfect for those of us who think toy guitars and drums are too irritating to master.

Sony needs to get the entire catalogs of artists like these up on the store:

Aerosmith
Billy Joel
Bob Dylan
Bruce Springsteen
Britney Spears
Carrie Underwood
Celine Dion
Christina Aguilera
Dido
Duran Duran
Elvis Presley
Franz Ferdinand
George Michael
INXS
Journey
Justin Timberlake
Kelly Clarkson
Michael Jackson
Oasis
Pearl Jam
R. Kelly
Shakira
The Strokes
Tori Amos
Whitney Houston

What do these people have in common, besides sales and popularity? THEY'RE ALL F-ING SONY ARTISTS!!!! And this was just a select sample.

Sony is letting a goldmine slip away. It's another classic example of them designing a great product and then utterly failing to market it (Betamax, Minidisc, SXRD televisions, Singstar...)

WAKE UP, stupid Sony Execs!!!

Will I be able to play the songs on my copy of Singstar Bollywood on my US PS3? So far, I have been unable to use this copy of Singstar at all because of it not being from the US region. I'm also wondering if the similar PS2 functionality you mentioned would solve this problem for me. Thx

I agree with FritoZ, make BC possible already Sony, people want to play their PS2 games, the fact that you are "magically" able to make PS2 Singstar games play on any PS3 makes it obvious that BC is possible and you are just not listening to your customer's demands.

First they should fix that you can use the BD RC to control Singstar. That would be much more comfortable because you could easily control it with one hand, while holding the mic in the other.
