My recommendation: Unless you’re looking for it, it’s tough to identify the Video icon in the upper-left portion of the PSN.

I recommend you make the button/signs/etc for Video more noticeable or provide a banner for films/shows in the ads of the main PSN page that would transition visitors to that portion of the site.

I’m confident that many users aren’t even aware of the Video store option, even after multiple visits to the PSN.

The only reason Sony is taking so long to bring the video store in Canada is that because Canada has certain laws that makes it harder to get copyrighted material in. So be patient…

You guys should have really played up that you now have NBC signed on for the service. Thats really awesome. Now please just get Heroes in the store!

FYI: If I click TV show downloads, then click networks. There is no choice for NBC.

Chuck is listed as NBC. Though when you click on Networks, NBC isn’t there. I had to go “TV New arrivals” or “View all TV > C” to see Chuck there.

Is there any chance that we may see Heroes or The CW on the Video store anytime soon?

I would greatly appreciate an answer, as I have asked before on these Video posts and never been replied too before. Thanks in advance.

also any idea on the missing eps on some Tv shows seasons? it just seems seriously off to have like 20 eps of a 23ep season. the Adult Swim stuff still shouldn’t be costing 1.99 compared to 23-25min shows

Does this mean that NBC is now officially on the video store? If so, why isn’t it listed on the networks page? For that matter, why isn’t CBS listed on the networks page for shows like The Unit and How I Met Your Mother?
Also, please bring us Heroes!

Wow, that top 20 is a little disturbing. I really thought the average PS3 owner had better taste than that. Is “Norbit” on the store yet? That should do very well.

Not true. I’ve rented from there, at least, once a week and I have a few friends who have used the video store every now and then.

None of us have rented Meet the Spartans.

I would like to say that while I have been using the PSN movie download service I find that it is lacking a few key features that are needed to make it a more complete service.

1) Ratings
The ability for people who have watched the movie to rate a movie (out of 5?)

2) Popularity
The ability to filter “within” genera for the popularity (i.e. the number of downloads of movies)

3) Previews of movies before downloading

4) Movie a section for free movie downloads (small indy or short films) as this would entice people to use the store

5) Integration with a movie review site (like rottentomotoes.com) to immediately see if a movie got good reviews before i download (could be in the movie details/info section)

6) “Every” film should have info/details about the movie (genera,year,actor,synopsis).

7) More movies (new and old….I mean really old) !!!

My wife and I really love this service have canceled our blockbuster (online) account and prefer the ability to (almost) immediately watch shows rather than wait for DVDs in mail.
It just seems that the PSN movie service is somewhat rushed and not very revolutionary!

Please start adding a lot of previews to movies and t.v. shows. I really need to know what the stuff is before I buy it.

I have a lot of Astro Boy but I don’t know which ones you’re putting up. I also can’t find trailers of that Comic Book movie. We might rend or buy more stuff if we can see what it looks like. Please provide us with some more previews so we can find out if we want to play it or not. Thank you guys I love the PSN Movie service but I need a job and a 500GB Hdd before I’ll do it. Should hopefully be able to do it in a month or so.

I have over 500 DVDs I’m kinda tired of DVDs and I don’t use DVD players other than my PS3 anyway.

I also want to say that at one point i remember people saying that a PSN movie download service will have a negative effect on Blu-ray sales. Well I think it will have a negative effect on crappy movies (blu-ray or SD-DVD).

I still buy my favorite movies and the video and audio quality of PSN movies will not (for a loooong time) compare to Blu-ray.

I watched spiderwick chronicles and truly enjoyed it I really hope to see more of quality movies like this.

Also another Item to add to my list is a better global search i could not find spiderwick chronicles when i just searched for “spider”. The ability to search meta data should also be an option (year,actor,details,etc).
For those of us that cannot spell very well “suggested matches” (similar to google) would be helpful.

this is a bit offtopic but i’ve had no success w/customer support.

when the video store launched, i purchased Independence Day for $9.99. however, a few weeks back I upgraded my PS3 harddrive again from a 160gb to a 320gb and in turn i deleted all of my movies (since most our ones i owned and were converted on my pc to mp4) to help keep my backup file size down.

where do you go to redownload movies you purchased? my transaction does not show up in my account or in my download history?

help… please? and while your at, home beta please? heheh..

It streaks me as a bit sad that the weekly content update is so small that it can actually be listed in a short blog post.

I wonder if there is any chance that the store will eventually get new episodes the day after they air like every other video download store. Or if they’ll ever get around to having a worthwhile selection.

Also, as someone else stated, until I can redownload purchases, I’m not touching this thing. These files aren’t exactly small and even with upgrading hard drives and/or using external drives, the cost/benefit quickly goes to me just buying it on disc (or from another site like Amazon.com).

oh yea not being able to re-download them sucks…a lot makes me iffy on buying some stuff what’s the point of showing the list like the game portion if you can’t even re-download stuff in case you do a switch of the hard drive without backing it up you just lost all the stuff you bought, by not letting you re-download it is basically saying I don’t own it but renting it for the lifetime of my hard drive. #29 has some good points, all movies have trailers just add trailers in the “folder” of the movie after you pick it to look at the synopsis, hell the synopsis could come from imdb, wikipedia, or the movies/studio site as long as it’s there

This update is killer! Is the movie store coming to Canada within the next month or so? I heard it is going through the censors at CTRC. I just can’t wait for this service to hit up north! My girlfriend loves Across the Universe, and is dying to have it on the PS3.

how come I can’t rent movies or tv programs in Canada? I have looked through my playstation store and no where to be found. When can we expect rentals to come here? Will there be a external storage device offered to people like myself who already paid the 499 for the 80gb?
