  • I just want the LBP Beta!!! :)

  • People crying about LWP or HOME need to shut up, pretty damn sure Sony heard enough, let them do their thing and if they can’t promise stuff they promised or say, then it will affect them in future sales or whatever so just wait on it. I’m sure it will be up to most people’s expectation when it is out.

I don’t get one thing about backward compatibility issue with some PS3 not supporting it.

Is this stuff hardware related??? not software to process the PS1, PS2 games?

I really don’t understand this part, or haven’t read much about it since I don’t play much PS1/PS2 games on my PS3 but if its not hardware related they technically can release a software download to startup/run PS1/PS2 games no???

Other than that… my same complaint from last week… UPDATE THE DAMN INTERNET BROWSER… Why does this browser suck this much??? Even google came out with a brand new browser and it’s doing better than the PS3 browser… c’mon!

  • Why has Rock Band been lacking in quality songs for the last month or two? Is it because Rock Band 2 is coming out? I thought most songs could be transferred over anyway. Oh well, at least I’m saving money this way! RB was making me broke, constantly.

  • ugh…why man why?! i have now 3 episodes of qore on my hdd waiting for the extra content to become available for download. i am now officially out of hdd space on my 100gig drive. almost 6gigs of which is qore. you gotta fix this problem with late qore downloads. how about releasing the episodes of qore during the months that the content will be made available. works this month for motorstorm, but i’ve had issue 1 since it’s day 1 release for a beta due this fricking month??? come on man! now i have to buy another 2 hdd, one internal one external to back up the current internal. worse part is hoping the external will work, considering my frist 2 stopped working with the ps3 after a certian update and sony tech support gave me the most bs line ever as to help. work fine on my pc though. (to all idiots that think i didn’t have them set up properly, read again the part where i said stopped working. they once did in order to have stopped)you’re killing me here.

  • Id like to see the 90’s Spiderman animated series on the store, that would be awesome.

  • @ medhead ( lol neat name)
anyways they are going to start ot show some real love for the psp. 1st they are going to update both the psp and ps3 so that the psp can connect online with other psp player for previous AD-Hoc multiplayer games. That way i can play Liberty City Stories with you in a game of multiplayer. Hows that for love. Kinda like an X-link Kia for the ps3. Tunneling through the internet to a ps3 near you. Also there is going to be a direct download store for the psp soon. That is good lovin indeed in my books. Hope I didn’t SCOOP all you here on the blog…..
Oh and why did I get a Japanese Home Beta Invite? I’m in Canada, can someone fix that and get me a regular one……….

  • oh yeah decent update btw.

  • lmfao just watched the Qore trailer, hilarious!! As long as the amount of demos that come with Qore is limited to just ONE, and it is a timed-exclusive, then I don’t mind. It really is just like a magazine from the PS2 days, but obviously higher-res.

  • SEXIEST UPDATE EVER

  • do you guys post updates for SingStore as well?

  • Not a very interesting update…

man it is taking forver for that novastrike update….jeez

  • great update…likin that qore so far guys..it’s great…wish i could get my hands on some LBP or R2…but i guess that’ll have to wait….thx for the update!

  • I have to agree right now I’m giveing up on my PS3 and this weekend it will be gone. But it’s going for a worthy cause for my new PSP brite 3000 model mystic Silver!

On top of that I’ll use what ever spare trade in I get for it at my local GameStop to grab some new games, and the like for my other systems. So it’s not like I’m wasteing my cash here. BTW: I do store credit because you get more that way then those nut cases who ask for hard cash 24/7 and then whine when they only get 10% on the trade in. If you do store credit you can get 20% more for your systems. But most people don’t realise that.

But anyway Any word if the PSP Store will come to the US and Europe as well? It was announced for Japan, but we in the west need solid proof that it’s going to come to us as well. Please give is some info!

  • who is that asian woman? jesus christ she is beautiful…

Seriously, i had no interest in downloading qore ever.

    Will download now…

Can you guys have her make a game? Where you just talk to her and ask her how her day is going?

    wow.

  • Good update; lots of stuff to download. Too bad the internet at my college is really slow.

I’m just glad that this issue of Qore looks worth the money, finally. Good demo, good games covered. Exactly what I wanted. Maybe next time do some BioShock, some Dead Space, and maybe even Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. The demo should absolutely be either BioShock, Dead Space, or even Mirror’s Edge.

    Keep it up.

  • Yo Grace! I’m getting an error message when trying to download LBP theme. It went out to the PS Store then gave me an error message. I exited Qore and went to Download list in the PS Store and still get an error message when I try to download the LBP theme.

What gives? Is it not there either? Like the SOCOM BETA, the R2 BETA, and now the Motorstorm 2 DEMO?

  • man..haha…dude…jeopardy looks sweet…great update by the way…will definitely be getting qore and the pure demo…
what’s with the full game download?

  • It still brings a tear to my eye when I see such great updates to the US store when the European one end sup getting peanuts in comparison of the time.

  • This is it? I’m happy to hear they redid the PAIN trophies but man, I wanted some more demos. PURE looks sucky to me.

  • Mediocre update.
I was expecting some more demos…oh well.

  • I want RPGs

Please bring more RPGs to the PS3 and PSP.

  • We need more PS1 classics.

If Crash Bandicoot 1, 2, and 3 and Spyro 1 are available, why isnt Crash Team Racing or Spyro 2 and 3 out yet?

  • hey im a tad bit confused about the mini game u spoke of…
i just DL qore for the first time and enjoyed it “even tho i felt it a tad bit short”
but i heard there was this mini game

so far i have no idea how to play this mini game you speak of… sorry im a noob to this :P

also one more thing under the DL section of qore i saw calling all cars there…. does that mean i can DL it or do i need to pay for 12 months of qore for it?

    thanks guys

  • @124

yea, you need annual subscription. each issue of qore is a diff mini game, press r2 button

  • @Whoever was wondering about the PS2/PS1 backwards compatibility.

Every single PS3 that has or is on the market features full PS1 compatibility. That’s been in software since PS2 days.

The problem with PS2 compatibility is that it required hardware. There hasn’t been a reliable way to emulate the PS2 yet. The initial 20/60GB US models featured both the GPU and CPU from the PS2 installed in the system. So in fact when you played PS2 games you played it on a PS2 in a larger, heavier package.

The 60GB PAL models, and the 80GB bundle packs (Motorstorm & MGS4) contained the PS2 GPU but the CPU was emulated through software that ran on the Cell. Look where that got us. ~15% drop on compatibility.

The 40GB model, 80GB Core Pack, and upcoming 160GB Uncharted model are identical, except for harddrive size. This contains no PS2 parts, meaning the CPU emulation from the 80GB Bundle packs is not enough.

Consider PS2 emulators on the PC. You’ll get 6-15ish frames on a pretty good PC. It’s not possible without massive time (and therefore monetary) investment.

Basically to get PS2 games on PS3s without compatibility will mean you have to re-code the game to run on the PS3.

  • What the heck is the point of having a comment section if there is no correspondence between SCEA and us?

  • @126 tuamin13

i have read what you had to say, and i’m not sure exactly what you’re point is..

it sounds like you are against B/C or something? or rationalizing why Sony shouldn’t have B/C in the PS3?

    sorry, i’m just confused..

If the worst the 80-gig pure software emulation did was 15% drop of compatibility, that is minimal! and could of course be handled by more programming, if Sony would just give it’s developers more resources in that pursuit..but I think they are dead set on trying to make consumers purchase both consoles..

My original 60-gig launch unit has the actual PS2 chip with the PS3 cpu running the show, aND IT IS GREAT! granted some games still look like crap (Final Fantasy 12, i’m looking at you..) but most of my games are on the B/B list!

I have TONS of PS2 games and so do all my friends, just like we have tons of original xbox games and gamecube games, etc. etc.

it really is a boon to have a console maker’s commitment to their product and games if we can play our old library on our new console..i don’t care what generation of console it is, it is great to have B/C!

For Sony to adopt this strategy to me seems very strange…You’d think they would want to open the dedicated PS2 owners into the next generation with open hands, not by cutting the ties to the old..

less cords, less clutter, more fun!

anyway, it’s getting late and i have to settle for playing Mercs 2 on my 360 as my 60-gig launch PS3 is currently in for repairs, for the second time in 2 months..

NOT gonna be too happy if i have to have one of these new units with no B/C as i have had 2 PS2’s in my time that have gone kaput due to so much time gaming, and have no further desire to buy ANOTHER FREAKING PS2 just to play the games i have been playing on my 60-gig launch PS3…weak!

those PS2’s worked great and were really a part of my life as i moved all around the world, and I let them retire in grace! no qualms about them breaking down after almost 5 years each!

but to have to buy another PS2 just to play my 40+ PS2 games, when i spent almost $700 after taxes on my launch PS3, is just a slap in the face!

they HAD B/C..they took it OUT to SAVE MONEY.

now they are increasing the hard drive size up to 120 gigs, and have rumored cost cutting redesigns with smaller less heat producing cpu’s, but still can’t afford to have B/C standard?

    WEAK!

geez, I’m just ranting now, time to have some hash browns and seaweed!

peace tuamin13, i wasn’t ranting at you of course, i was ranting at Sony for pulling this switcheroo..

i just wasn’t sure what you meant to say..and then i thought about my situation with having to face getting a new PS3 with no B/C as a replacement for my sick launch unit and i got all riled up!

    :)

  • @128 Fritoz

Nah, I love the BC in my 60GB. Though indeed I prove Sony’s point when I say I haven’t played a PS2 game in a good while since I’ve been playing Eden, Warhawk, and my other PS3/PSN games.

I’m more so of the point either
    a) Put it in fully and leave it in
    or
    b) Never give it to us in the first place.

The switching between the full/semi/no backwards compatibility is pretty bad. Now you wonder when people go all over Yahoo! Answers or forums or whatever and act all confused.

I just typed all that out because a lot of people are confused about PS1 compatibility. A good chunk of people seem to think that since the new models can’t play PS2 games, they can’t play PS1 games either.

Suggestion to Sony: Get a corporate account or whatever with Yahoo answers and go clear up half of that PS3 section. People ask about the hardware all the time, settings etc. Dell has a corporate account to kind of facilitate assistance. It’d be a nice gesture for Sony to help clean up some of the mess they left behind switching SKUs.

I have nothing against multiple SKUs (like a basic and an awesome model), special edition bundles, but switching up the hardware frequently is kind of annoying (Not just bashing the PS3 here, MS did it too with HDMI).

  • I liked this update! I’ve downloaded the Pure demo, but I couldn’t try it out yet, so I’ll be playing Pure tomorrow… And Legendary looks AWESOME! (I hope there will be a demo for that game…)

    *fingers crossed*

  • Qore is ok, but as for another week with no PS1 RPGs = FAIL.

Sorry but it’s true, at least for me

  • Wheres the Rush DLC for Rock Band???

  • @129 tuaamin13

“a) Put it in fully and leave it in
    or
    b) Never give it to us in the first place.”

sorry to misinterpret what you meant, and after reading your last post, i agree with everything you’ve said!

I remember reading and interview with ken kutaragi back when the 360 was just launching- before the Wii and PS3 had yet launched- and basically he belittled Microsoft’s strategy of having multiple models/SKU’s..

saying it would “confuse” the consumer and that Sony was committed to the one PS3..

and of course we know how that ended..anyone remember those poor 20-gig launch PS3’s??

and what # model will the 120 gig PS3 be now? like 6 i think, if you don’t count the special editions…

    lol

    peace man

  • Hey Sony – any word on if North America is going to get the UMD collection of PSN games that Europe is getting?

I don’t buy downloaded content of *any* kind, so I’m really keen on buying these!

A little love to NA please!

  • hahaha… they should release the add on stage for PAIN instead of delaying it with the trophies

  • GO DOWNLOAD “PURE”!! That game is totally “AWESOME”!!! Must buy for me.

  • Where’s my first post by the way :-? I’m positively sure I posted a message on this page before.

  • Erm never mind I posted it by accident under the wrong blog… *whoops* :-?

    Copying and pasting:

“Erm the demo of Pure is at least 1.6GB, just so to let you know.

I wonder why I no longer receive mails from SCEE :-? I get mails from SCEA every week nicely in my mailbox but none from SCEE since about a month.”

  • One of the worst updates in a while, plus no one cares about Life its already on the wii and even wii fans with no games think its useless.

  • ” Mxdeftone | September 5th, 2008 at 2:54 am

hahaha… they should release the add on stage for PAIN instead of delaying it with the trophies”

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Its only 1 week extra waiting, and if the trophies are not coming, because the patch had to come a week sooner anyway, people whine about “where are the trophies”… including me :P :D

  • i hate that voice over/presenter girl. or maybe its just the whole presentation but it feels very amateur. bleh.

  • Qores host is pretty bad… I get the direction I guess(casual and approachable) but I would appreciate a reporter that asked hard questions and really dug deep. Belomnt just asks what we already know and doesn’t get the extra bits of info we expect for a paid service.

  • Extremely disappointed with the update this whole month. I don’t even log on Every thurs anymore, cuz I know it’s gonna be stupid. ReleASE

  • sorry something good!

  • Stop the whining download the PURE demo!!

It will wipe away all of your tears in an instant.

  • GO GET IT!!

I’d be good at promoting games :-D With a gun pointed at people’s face I make sure they buy the games :-D

  • so is anyone going to repsond?

leaving us in the cold this weekend, i see..

  • I’m not going to give up on the PSN in delivering PSone games. Please Please release more PSone game. Start with your first party games and go from there. If you think there is little market for these that is because you need to release more PSone games. Also talk to Japan they have many great ones on their store. Work to bring them here. Games Like Biohazard 2(RE2) and MGS.

  • @FritoZ
What do you want them to respond to?

Hard to respond to the standard “First” post, then a “2nd” which was fourth.

Noel has already said more avatars are coming, it isn’t custom but we got sometime on those.

Then the same gentleman asking for wipeout price and date which is a weekly standard.

Then someone who list a bunch of ps1 classics. And then a few rpgs Final Fantasy 7 will pop up a good three or four times if we are lucky 10 times if we are unlucky.

Then the post asking for more demos or not enough demos post then the ps1 classic post then the good ol we need home or

Honestly, Grace does not have much to respond to some people like the update others do not. Then we got those who hate Qore then others who love it. I like how C-h-a-o-s said nothing really peaks my interest this week. I agree with him. Is it the end of Sony? No, but it means I got some downtime on downloading w/e and I can continue with Disgaea3 and MW.

My favorite post for update has to be is Grace Chen a real person if we were allowed signatures that would go up there for the sheer “interestingness” of it.

The only thing that trips me out about these updates is the fact that a person needs to post 5 or 6 times in the thread to say the same thing or even post back to back moderators should catch that put the post together.

Like I said before nothing really peaked my interest I checked out the legendary video.

  • @104
That’s the problem! Even if you get a USB external drive, you can’t move Qore episodes over for storage… they have to remain on your internal HDD.

I honestly don’t know why they can’t resolve the “wait 3 months for the beta download” issue – I’m holding both the Socom and Resistance issues… and frankly, when that stupid button does finally work, I may not have room for the download on my HDD.

They need to resolve this issue! (I can’t even imagine how those with the old 20GB units deal with this!)

Deleting and re – downloading the issues as the betas become available is not a long-term feasible solution. I’m wasting my bandwidth and time re-downloading something I’ve already read, just to press a button to get the demo – ridiculous!
