Oh, and because my wording might’ve been a bit confusing (we didn’t *practice* this, we just walked in!), you will of course be able to purchase WipEout HD normally via the PLAYSTATION Store. Now, there’s another option as well.

  • i’m gonna have to wait until i get some $$ because it would be pointless to buy a 20 bucks card for a 19.99 game because of tax.nevertheless, this is good news for those of us that dont have a cc :)

  • @37 DeanoXD

Yea i got the same email too from blockbuster canada but i was hoping she was not aware of it or something lol

  • where are these cards available in Canada?

  • I’ve been buying PSN Cards for a while at Meijer. My article about finding them at Meijer was posted at PS3 Fanboy:
    http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/06/13/north-american-psn-cards-available-now-at-meijer/

I’ll check Blockbuster too, but I’ll mostly stick to Meijer for the cards.

  • So when will the EU finally get the PSN Cards…?

  • Dude that’s awesome. Now I can buy WarHawk and a bunch of clothes for Home!!! I hope they have them in my area around Christmas time. It would be great if they got this all sorted out before the Holidays :D

  • Who is the chick with the cam?

  • its would be so much easyer if u added a system where we pay tax in the store when buying a psn card and then we dont pay tax in the ps store.it makes a hell of alot more sence that way.as for people using credit card they would still have to by tax in the store.
this would then makes its easyer to

  • I really need an answer on the tax question. 20 dollars won’t cover the tax. There should at least be 25 dollar cards or something to cover the taxes.

  • Finally, but sadly there isn’t any BlockBuster where I live. I will have to take the bus to get there :(
But I hope 711 get them soon.
Oh and you can’t buy WipeOut HD with a $20 dollar Playstation Card, you have to pay tax, and it will be over %20 :(

  • Abigail I just googled you. You’re a musician?

  • Jeff, thanks for looking into it. This problem is also prevalent in the PlayStation Network forums where I’ve been reading up on it as well. It’s kinda frustrating to see the cards after so long and not be able to come out of the store with an activated one. Thanks for the help and I hope we’ll be good to go soon.

  • Damn it! the ‘NOW HIRING’ sign is hiding Abigail Murphy’s face :(

  • Google her like all the cool people do. She’s a looker. :)

  • @57 i was just going to ask the same thing till i read your post. lol
nice video it remind me of highschool. lol

  • Wait so if you buy the $20 card will you be able to buy Wipe out HD? Or is it because of the tax on PSN you will have to buy 2 cards?

If it’s the latter, then that sucks :(

  • Actually it was the sound of your shoes, but I see yeah now. :P

  • any Canadian blockbusters have this?

Called the 2 locations in my city and they had no idea what i was talking about

    nothing :(

  • man, this is such great news :P! i live in canada, and i want to know if they’ve been released here. sorry for the dull question ^^”.

  • I’m in Canada. I guess I’ll check my local Bbuster and let everyone know the status.

  • Tried buying one on Friday, couldn’t get the register to validate the card. I’m hoping that they’ve gotten the system figured out by now…

  • @ 70

okay, that’d be awesome :D. i really want to buy a PSN card instead of going through the difficult process of using a credit card xD.

  • Cool but too bad that every blockbuster on Puerto Rico are going to close. Put them at Gamestop,Jeff

  • They been around here for awile now. But I just wanted to say with PSN going the way it has been with movie rentals +Games. I think you guy’s are going to take Blockbuster out of business, and there even helping you!!!!LOL

  • Hey Jeff i really want to know if these cards are available in Canada or not. it would be really helpful

  • For those who live in Canada > Quebec you can get a visa gift card in SuperC(a grocery store) and it works perfectly with the playstation store. visa gift card (bank citizens) < the brand
    GO AND GET IT!

  • how about you sell them were people can get them
blockbuster sucks and i dont like how they do business how about at best buy where they actually sell ps3s and games

  • PLEASE RELEASE THEM IN CANADA

I AM DYING TO GET SOME PSN GAMES HERE.

  • Hey Jeff, bit off topic but have you ever thought about doing an official PlayStation podcast a la Xbox Live’s Major Nelsons podcast? I’m sure you could get a ton of guests from 1st, 2nd and 3rd party developers and publishers. It would be awesome to hear what goes behind the PSN scenes from Eric Lempel or weekly Playstation Store updates from Grace Chen. Hell you can rip off the whole xbox 101 segment and inform your listeners about all of those wacky features the PS3 can do.

  • Can I purchase games from other regions . Can I buy something from the Japan store?

  • I hope they’re out here in Puerto Rico as well.
Now I don’t have to awkwardly ask my dad for his CCs. :p

  • So am I going to have to purchase a second $20 card, just to buy a $20 game, because it will cost just over that with tax? That seems very unfair to buy another $20 card for $2.

  • I am assuming that you will have to buy 2 $20 cards in order to buy a $20 game, since Jeff can’t own up to this flaw in the PS Store.

That sucks for the people who don’t have a CC

  • Thanks for the info Jeff, I didn’t know they some gaming things as well. There’s one very close by my house will def have to check it out one of these days.

  • Good to hear tax is included in the price, I’m guessing BlockBuster doesn’t get too much money on each of those cards then.

And for anyone worried that they’d have to drop a $50 due to WipEout HD costing more than $20, relax, that is not the case. There’s never been tax added onto the PSN items because it is included in the final price! :D

  • At 83 no i think u got it wrong. if u buy a 20 dollars card you get 20$ off the ps store its all the same thing he was just showing 2 20$ cards and 2 50 $ cards

  • Hey Jeff and Abigal,
I noticed something strange when i heard footsteps of highheals :P im guessing your spanish cause abigal sounds like a spanish name :)

  • @Abigail Murphy
Why do you have a Heavenly Sword Avatar? Is it because Heavenly Sword is the third best game on the ps3 right now :)

  • AWESOME!!! No… BEYOND AWESOME!!!

I absolutely love Fall… but, as much as I love fall, I still sort of hate it, because I have to choose between so many awesome games and things… (UGH!) I just can’t buy them all… BUT, the SECOND after I pay off my reservations (One of them including the amazing LittleBig Planet!) I WILL GET A PSN CARD!

I know that I’ve been mentioning how I can’t buy things from the Playstation Store in every other post on here, but now I have nothing to complain about! (Thank God! I was started to annoy myself!)

Thank you SO much for this post, now I can stop complaining, and get out there and get a PSN Card!!!! :)

  • I was gonn ask about the chick with the cam :D

Atleast Jeff had someone to avoid embarrassment with. Becuase I bet that was weird. Awesome though.

  • So, are the PSN cards available in Canada yet?

  • Better late than never, I suppose… and just in time for WipEout HD, too. Impeccable timing, Sony. :-)

  • Nice to see a video to re-assure us that this isn’t a false alarm lol “They’re on their way”, “their coming soon”, and “you should be seeing them shortly” lol.

Thanks jeff ^^ I think this qualifies you for ultimate badass status.

  • See there’s this Northern country called Canada you may have heard of it, we have giant ice spiders there (according to Kotaku) and I was wondering if this release includes Canada or will Canada be getting its own release sometime in the (hopefully) near future

  • Thanks for the info. Any plans of releasing the card at Kroger’s or other grocery store chains?

  • Since european questions seem to be ignored here, or its not the appropiate place, is there any place where i can ask about PSN cards and theyll listen?

I dont have a creditcard, i have to paypal a friend in the US to use his. so i cant even buy PAL add ons for my games, they REALLY need to adress this, but it falls on deaf ears. sad situation.

  • How a bout Blockbuster In Mexico????
In Mexico we cant buy nothing?

  • Some that are wondering about sales tax, when I buy a PSN Card at Meijer, I have to pay my state 7% sales tax on it, so it turns out to $21.40 if I buy a $20 card. Since I live in Indiana, I do not get taxed on the PS Store.

To let everyone know, before you leave the store, make SURE your PSN Card was activated properly. When I buy them at Meijer, they scan the card, then swipe it to give it value (when it’s not swiped, it has no value). On the receipt, it should say 20.00A or 50.00A, meaning the card was activated properly.

Also, if someone buys a card, and it says “invalid card” on the PS Store, I recommend clearing the cache and cookies on the internet browser (PS3 or PC). I had that problem with the first PSN Card I bought due to previous redeeming code info being stored, but once I cleared it, it worked just fine. I made it a habit to go through the steps every time I buy a PSN Card.

  • Hey Jeff, did anyone greet you on your way in? I can’t get by the front area without an employee greeting me. Good job “ninja”ing your way in to the pre-paid card section. :-D
Really good to see the PSN cards out in the wild though. Blockbuster is going to get a ton of business with those things.

  • Finally, now I can get all the map packs, Network games like Quest 4 Booty, Fat Princess, Wipeout, and the like. My question is will nationwide by the week. Thanks Sony, better late than never.PSN Cards check 1 down, Home, Life w/ Playstation, and firmware update that let you put your own music in games, 3 to go!!!! Keep it up Sony, we still have faith in you that we still have the best console and you still will deliver all your promises!!!!!!!!!!!!
