By now you’ve probably come across some great previews for wipEout HD, the upcoming anti-gravity racing title on PSN. Between the 1080p racing at 60 frames per second, the awesome trophy support, motion steering via SIXAXIS, online racing and A LOT more, the excitement level is understandably high. Well, we have some more wipEout HD goodness to share today in the form of an OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE.

Your wipEout HD thirst will be quenched on September 25. Yes, that’s right, just 10 days from today. For just $19.99, wipEout HD will be available for download only and includes the following awesomeness:
- Full HD Visuals
- 5 Game Modes – Single Race, Tournament, Time Trial, Speed Lap and Zone Mode
- Online play that supports up to 8 racers competing on a track at a time
- 2-player split screen (horizontally and vertically) offline
- 8 reversible tracks and 12 teams
- Optional use of SIXAXIS motion controls to steer your ship
- A great soundtrack remixed in Dolby 5.1 AND the option for custom playlists that allow you to race to whatever playlists you have on your HDD
- And more, including Trophy support, which we’ll outline for you in a future post – so keep your eyes peeled.

Sony should have had this out already, giving it plenty of time for gamers and generating buzz for the PS3. As it is it is very close to a bunch of good games coming out and I can see people saving their dollars for other stuff instead. The timing is poorly thought out. Still, looking forward to it. Better late than never.

It probably wouldn’t have been much good coming out before it was finished. And remember they’ve added trophies, custom soundtracks, and more tracks in recent months. If they had released earlier it would have been 1/2 the game it is.
But regardless, at this price a lot of people will by this game.
My question is is the date the same for Europe?
Can I trust a release date? NO.
Tell me when the game is finished and is out.

IT’s SEPTEMBER and almost OCTOBER and the cards are still not out. what is wrong with you people, do you like being last in the console race? Do you like your customers to be angry all the time? The PSN Cards are out and they will only be sold from Sept 16th on out. Call your local Blockbuster, I did and they had them in stock… I even got to see them… they just didn’t realize till they read the box that they couldn’t activate the cards until the 16th….

Review codes are already out, the game has been demoed at numerous events. I don’t think it is a matter of it not being ready. Could be wrong, but it seems more a matter of Sony’s tendency to delay things.
This game is going to be awesome. This will be my first Wipeout.
Please make some DLC for this game, more remastered racetracks, possibly brand new tracks? ship skins, cold storage alternative soundtrack, anything! $20 is a steal and I’m itching to dump more money into this game for more and more content for as long as you guys can possibly make it. =)
Can we get confirmation of a worldwide release on the 25th? Come on, you know you want to. Make lots of people happy.

You can copy Cold Storage from WipeOut to the HDD. I did it and play it with WarHawk. ;)
